There could be more cryptocurrency options
Users can already pay by Bitcoin. However Bitcoin isn't the most private nor cheapest cryptocurrency to use. I suggest Proton paid plans could be paid with other cryptocurrencies such as Monero, Litecoin, Etherium and Bitcoin Cash.

How can it be that they don't already accept monero like Mullvad and all others.

Would be great to see Monero (XMR) offred as a crypto payent option for Proton Subscriptions.
Right now there is really no private way of paying for Proton serivces:
Credit\Debit - Central Govment regualted bank montioring trnasactions
Paypal- Central Private Comany borkering the transaction to another financial institution
Bitcoin - Transactions are publlicly visible on the blockchain, privacy/anonymity is highly dependent on the assumption the wallet address isnt ever associated with the user’s true identity
Cash - Could get lost or stolen in the mail and Is marked with the destination.Monero restores to us the privacy originally promsied to us with crypto payments like bitcoin. I'm not sure about the specifics as to how it keeps the transactions private, but i do know you can't simply see transations on the moenrao blockchain without other transaction information.

Monero is private, and transaction fees are negligible. Bitcoin has neither of those attributes. Monero is much more closely aligned with Proton privacy principles, while Bitcoin is becoming more of a wealth building tool ("digital gold") and inflation hedge for the largest businesses, financial institutions, states, and global elites.

Why not just convert those to Bitcoin? Why should they waste time adding massive security holes to the system because you are too lazy to use an exchange?

We really need a monero option. Cheap and private.

They know people want to pay privately but they've been intentionally ignoring requests for 5 years: https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/935538-accounts-payments/suggestions/33188971-accept-monero-for-payment

Please understand that cryptocurrency is not private at all. https://www.science.org/content/article/why-criminals-cant-hide-behind-bitcoin The article is a little older, but crypto has not fundamentally changed and it should definitely not be considered private, even with mixers/tumblers you risk having all your transactions traced back to you.
However, cryptocurrency can still be a valid payment method if other options are not accessible to somebody, like when they cannot open a bank account or acquire a credit card. -

I think having cryptocurrency as a payment method would provide more privacy to the user if Proton wants to push the idea of privacy. Accepting anonymous cryptocurrency like Monero would allow Proton to get more users and provide a safe, secure, and private method of payment.
