  1. Proton ZeroTrust Gateway

    Product Concept Proton Zero‑Trust Gateway

    Vision

Proton already protects outbound traffic through its VPN, giving users privacy and security when they connect to the internet. The next logical step is to give them the same level of confidence for inbound connections—letting them expose services (websites, APIs, SSH, RDP, IoT endpoints, etc.) without ever having to open ports or configure complex NAT rules. A “Zero‑Trust Gateway” would sit at the edge of a user’s network, authenticate every request, enforce fine‑grained policies, and only forward traffic that meets those policies to the private host.

    Core Pillars

    • Identity‑First Access – Every inbound request must…

    Title
Use Proton Custom Items as an encrypted bookmark manager

    Category
    Feature request

    Description

Proton already provides Proton Custom Items, a zero‑access‑encrypted database that lets users define arbitrary fields, filter, sort, and share rows. By creating a simple schema (Title, URL, Tags, Notes, Added Date, Last Visited) users can build a fully searchable, encrypted bookmark collection that syncs across web, iOS, Android, and desktop.

    Why this works today

All data is encrypted end‑to‑end, matching Proton’s privacy guarantees.
Structured fields enable fast lookup (e.g., “show me all bookmarks tagged privacy added last month”).
Lumo can be used to add, retrieve, or query bookmarks via natural‑language prompts.

  3. a decentralized app store

Similar to apkmirror or aurora store, it could work cross-platform, so we don't have to use Google on Android, Microsoft on Windows, or if one simply wants to explore apps, without border restrictions, it could link the vpn to the store so it doesn't apply changes due to where your Google account is based or geolocation

  5. Show status of popular suggestions

Is there a roadmap available to show what's on the horizon for Proton offerings? That includes both new products and much wanted improvements to existing products. My general impression is (and it may be wrong) that Proton is not responsive to user suggestions--surely not in any timely fashion.

  6. A Decentralized, Privacy-First Digital Identity Platform to Empower Global Freedom

    Dear Proton Team,

I write with excitement about an idea for a project that feels like a natural evolution of your mission: a self-sovereign digital identity solution that puts power back in users' hands, not governments'. In a world where centralized ID systems are becoming the norm, Proton could lead the charge toward true digital freedom. Allow me to outline the urgent problem, a ready-made solution, and why you're uniquely positioned to make it happen.

The Problem: Centralized IDs as a Slippery Slope to Surveillance
State-backed digital IDs promise efficiency but deliver vulnerability and control. Take the UK's "Brit Card,"…

  7. Add the open models by OpenAI to Lumo

OpenAI's new open models seem to be significantly better than the current models offered by Lumo. By integrating these new models I believe Lumo can become even more useful.

  8. Proton App

This may be a tall ask, and i know this may not even be something that most would want from Proton, but a single app containing all Proton services, also providing a way to easily secure/manage your Proton account as well with a custom UI instead of the standard web version.

  10. Instant communications

I absolutely love my proton business account. However, I would like an instant communication app with two features. One a messenger and a walkie talkie type feature such as zello. It would be great have such features to communicate with a team in real time and potential clients.

  11. Hardware Password Manager (Ledger-Style Keyboard Emulator)

I would like to propose the development of a Proton hardware password manager, similar in concept to Ledger (used for crypto), but designed specifically for secure credential storage and input, while fully aligned with Proton's privacy principles.

    🔐 Core Concept:

A dedicated, tamper-resistant USB hardware device that:

    Stores passwords securely offline

Presents a list of stored usernames only to the user

Prompts the user on-device (via a screen + buttons or touchscreen) to select and approve password entry

Emulates a USB keyboard to type the selected password into the target system (not via clipboard or memory injection)

    This way, passwords…

  12. Filters and Automations improvements

I'd like to have extended functionalities for filters, relying more on automations that are triggered at regular custom timers or events, instead of only "as a new email is received".

    I'd like to have these:

    1) New Automation criteria:
    • Emails that are older or newer than "X days/weeks/months";
    • Email status as "read" or "unread";
    • Email location (folder);
    • Attachment size is lower or higher than X (to label them as "bulky").
    • "Without answer" (to detect all emails we sent which didn't receive answers).
This would allow automations such as: if the email is older than 1…

  13. AI Shield

End to End encryption will become a moot point as far as privacy is concerned once AI becomes integrated into OS. Microsoft has made it clear that it wants copilot to be "An AI companion for everyone" and "see what we see and hear what we hear", NVidia wants to copilot everything. It's currently opt in, but if history has taught us anything, that won't last as soon as MS has finished bringing the frogs to a boil. So, even if it's end to end encrypted, it will be as private as someone standing over your shoulder watching everything you…

  14. Add better filter/sort for Inbox in Proton Mail

While filters allow you to set up rules for moving emails to other folders, I find when I do that I often miss important emails because I watch my inbox but don't have time to regularly go through every folder. When it's time to clean out my inbox (currently have 357 unread messages), it's nice to go through them by sender. I can sort by the size of the email or the receipt date, but not by sender. I can type in a filter at the top, but I have to remember to check "Inbox" or it shows me everything.…

  15. Customizable animated avatar for Lumo

    Hey Lumo team,

I love the animated Lumo avatar, but it would be awesome to let users customize it. A few ideas:

    • Theme picker – dark, neon, minimalist, etc . & Upload your own short GIF/PNG (with an optional “animation off” toggle for low‑bandwidth mode).
    • Live preview before saving, so we can see how it looks in‑chat.

Having a personal avatar would make the experience feel more “me” and keep the vibe fresh. Thanks for considering!

  16. Moving rows/cells in Proton Docs

Currently, if I insert a table into a document in Proton Docs, I can not move the row or cells afterwards.

This seems like a missing feature or even a bug that has been overlooked the past months, because the icon to move things is there, but it doesn't do anything if clicked or dragged.

  17. Household Budget App

I am just a Japanese Proton user, and please forgive me for using multiple translation sites.Let's Build a Privacy-First home Budgeting App

Your income, expenses, and purchase history are among your most sensitive personal data—they reveal everything about your life. Yet most budgeting apps store this data in the cloud, analyze it, and sometimes share it with third parties. Data breaches, advertising exploitation, government and corporate surveillance—are you truly protected from these threats?

    What we need:

    • End-to-end encryption — designed so even developers can't read your data
    • Local-first data storage — kept only on your device
    • Zero tracking — no…

  18. Tails OS and Proton AG

I'll address this as a problem, not an opinion. First, the Proton Pass and Proton VPN Tor (Firefox) extensions don't work at all on Tails OS, and no Linux apps, especially Proton Mail Bridge, work properly (in .deb format). I know Tails OS is a Linux distribution focused on security and high-level privacy, but Proton and its privacy mission are excellently supported. My journalist colleagues and I have been using Proton Mail for a long time, and it's an indispensable service for us. I urge the Proton team to address this issue as soon as possible. If possible, contact Tails…

  20. Account Lockdown

Sometimes we do our best to secure our private information and data - this could be by using ProtonPass to store emails and passwords or ProtonMail for secure communication.

Despite this, things can go wrong and in some cases, do go wrong. There are various ways third-parties can attempt to access our account to get the vital information we store, so what happens when they do?

Maybe an ex-partner found out your password or you fall victim to a phishing attack; your data exposed, computer maybe hacked - you may not realise it, but at any second someone could access…
