  1. Switching Authenticators

It would be nice to be able to change my Authenticator (TOPT) settings without having to first delete all of my 2FA keys. I simply want to switch from using Authy Authenticator to a different Authenticator app, but to do so I have to first turn off 2FA, which deletes all my 2FA keys. Most apps allow me to simply delete Authenticator app as a 2FA option, and then re-add it.

  2. 3rd Party Drive API/SDK

I would like to see a restricted API service for 3rd party for storing structured/unstructured data within a user's Drive. This would be sandboxed but accessible by the user. This would allow the user to store and manipulate PII data via a third party authorized to access the API by Proton. Proton would be able to capture value by charging a licensing/subscription fee for access to the API. To ensure integrity, Proton would require third parties submit routine security audits to maintain access.

  3. Extra password \ PIN requirement when editing anything in the "Recovery" and "Security and Privacy" tabs.

I'm just in general paranoid about security after my previous gmail account was compromised.
I feel like the recovery and security tabs are most vulnerable. If users could make a custom pin or password that is different from the standard email password or mailbox password. I would feel more comfortable, I wouldn't want someone to somehow gain access to my inbox then change the recovery or password \ phone number etc or delete \ remove the recovery keys.

I also feel a bit at unease with the app, because the app does not give an option to change a password,…

  4. Archiving in protonmail.com should automatically open the next message

Currently, if you are archiving a message (via button or shortcut) then the "read panes" (opened email) is left blank and you need to manually click on the next email. It would make sense for the application to automatically select the next message in the current folder. This would allow one to quickly archive a bunch of messages by pressing A repeatedly.

I know that you can remedy this somewhat by using keyboard to move to the next message and open it, and archive but it makes very little logical sense to not automatically open the next message.

  5. Auto progress to the next email after an action is taken

When I have an email selected, soon as I tap T for Trash, or A for Archive, auto-select the next email in the list. Today no email is auto-selected, and I have to use my mouse to click the next email.

  6. E-mail Conversations Borked

E-mail threads, or conversations, aren't quite working across the board. For instance, when I used Fastmail, the system recognized correctly the e-mails coming from the same "source" and group them together.

This is not happening correctly in Proton. For instance, some e-mails from LinkedIn are grouped when they arrive on different dates. A similar situation happens for GitHub: when the messages for a given pull request arrive, they aren't grouped together, as if they were from different topics.

  7. Compose should display From name along with the e-mail address as well

Currently, when multiple aliases are defined, the Compose panel/window only displays the e-mail address. Since the From name could be different for every alias, it would be better to display this as well.

Same for replies and everything that's related.

  8. Hide folders, selectively, when they contain no messages

There are some folders that are really used to group/place messages for a short period of time — hence, their nature aren't quite static as the rest.

I think it would be great to have a way to hide them, as long as they contain no messages. Candidates for this category are Spam, Drafts, and Archive — but users do create their own, so it's really hard to tell.

Regardless, this should help to unclutter the interface in case there are too many folders.

  11. Consistent PIN input methods

Android. Currently, there are three different ways PIN numbers are handled in the apps:
    1) System PIN (E.161 input) - Drive, SimpleLogin
    2) User-defined PIN (E.161 input) - Pass
    3) User-defined PIN (Numeric keypad) - Mail

I would prefer all apps to use the same input method. My preference is option 2) as I prefer to "spell" my PIN rather than remember a sequence of digits, and also allow different PINs for different apps.

  13. Implement Proton's new CAPTCHA on the forums.

Because the post and reply functions only need a generic login with a term agreement checkbox to login, the Proton feedback spaces are filled with spa. This is a little ironic given the new CAPTCHA you've just pioneered.

Save everyone a bit of heartache and show how incredible it is by implementing it right here!

  16. Enable contributing to appications' frontend sourcecode in a simple, straight-forward and transparent way.

As a long-time user of Protons services, Despite these services being great on its own, what I noticed throughout the general opinion, when comparing these to Gmail or Apple is the concession that is given to Proton in terms of features to the great idea of the privacy. I do not buy it, I want it all, and I want it now.

What do I pay for? I am not an evangelist of privacy if for that privacy I have to sacrifice for my comfort, not because I am superficial, but because I know that both are possible.

  17. Proton image hosting

Like many others, I've been using a private Discord server to host images to post around the web, but by the end of the year, that is no longer going to be possible. I've been looking around for a way to host my images to post online, but I'm worried that the hosting sites I'm finding online are going to harvest data or train AI on my files. I'd like a hosting site that can handle the data strain, and is transparent with its privacy, and where my images are private until I share the url (unlike Imgur). I'd be…

  20. Notes/Descriptions for "My Addresses" aliases

Similar to how SimpleLogin allows you to add notes for each alias (under an alias's "Alias Description") so you can remember which aliases exist for which purpose, it would be helpful to have this feature as an option in the "My Addresses" section for ProtonMail as well. The more e-mail ProtonMail addresses one has, the more useful this would be!
