   I am a privacy focused Proton customer and I have recently switched to GrapheneOS. Obtanium is a small Android App that helps to track app updates across the web; ao. directly from Github. Please consider a rebranded Proton version of Obtanium, or some other affiliation. The payoff is twofold:
   - As a Proton user I can install Android apps directly and track updates. Both good things.
   - Affiliation would mean that a non Google Playstore gets some security backing. This would be great to break away from big tech.

2. Markdown Editor in Proton Mail

   In addition to the WYSIWYG and plain text editor, add a Markdown text editor to Proton Mail. The markdown is then converted the moment the email is being sent.

   The main reason I asked for this are code blocks. Also, I would like to be able to define another formatting for text between backticks to make it more obvious than just monospace text.

4. Make sure all products are listed in the "Give feedback" box on the User Voice start page

   Make sure that the User Voice and Support/Help/Feedback dialogues are consistent. When a new product is launched the entire process from idea > online help > support should be updated.

6. Nudge users to change their master password periodically

   I think it would be helpful if Proton would periodically (perhaps quarterly? At least annually) nudge users to change their master passwords.
   Because the initial nudge might come when someone doesn't have time to update their password, perhaps the user could "snooze" the nudge.

7. Proton Calendar - I would like to switch from Google to Proton to track my client meetings but I'm not able to include files

11. Secret References: CLI-Based Env Variable Injection for Developer Workflows

    Add support for secret references in developer environments, allowing users to reference Proton Pass secrets directly in shell sessions and configuration files without ever writing sensitive values to disk in plain text.

    The Problem
    Developers currently have no way to use Proton Pass as the single source of truth for secrets in their development workflows. Even with a .env file properly added to .gitignore, credentials still exist in plain text on disk, vulnerable to accidental exposure, editor leaks, and local filesystem access.

    Each developer on a team must also manually sync secret values out-of-band, creating drift and security gaps.

    Proposed Solution
    Introduce a pass CLI command (e.g. proton-pass run or pass inject) that resolves secret references at runtime and injects them as environment variables into a process, similar to how 1Password's op run command works.

    This would enable a workflow like:

    Where a .env file (or shell config) contains only references, never values:
    ```

    The CLI authenticates with Proton Pass (via session token or biometric unlock), resolves each reference at runtime, and passes the real values to the child process — which never touches the filesystem.

    Key Capabilities Requested

    • A proton-pass run CLI command that wraps a process and injects resolved secrets as environment variables
    • Support for a reference syntax (e.g. proton://vault/item/field) pointing to specific vault items and fields
    • Integration with .env-style files so tools like dotenv, direnv, and Docker Compose can pick up the resolved values without modification
    • A proton-pass inject variant that prints resolved output to stdout for piping into scripts
    • Optional: a VS Code / JetBrains extension that resolves references transparently during local development

    Why This Matters
    Proton Pass is already trusted for personal and team credentials. Extending it into the developer workflow, where secrets are most often mishandled, makes it a complete end-to-end secrets solution. It directly addresses the gap between "secure storage" and "secure usage," which is where most breaches actually happen.

    This feature would make Proton Pass a compelling alternative to 1Password Secrets Automation and HashiCorp Vault for individual developers and small teams who don't need enterprise-scale infrastructure but do need secrets hygiene.

    Proton is often seen as a nonprofit, but in reality it operates as a private company, Proton AG, with the Proton Foundation as a majority shareholder. This structure is designed to protect its mission, but many users are not fully aware of how it works or what guarantees it provides long term.

    Proton asks users to trust that its incentives will always stay aligned with privacy. While that may be true today, long term trust is harder to evaluate without some visibility into ownership and financial direction. For example, WhatsApp was once widely seen as privacy-focused, but shifts in ownership and business pressures changed how it operates over time. Proton is asking for a similar level of long-term trust, so additional transparency would help reinforce confidence.

    Providing a small set of high level, non-sensitive statistics would go a long way in building confidence. Here are some key indicators that could meaningfully improve transparency:

    • Voting control: What percentage of voting shares are held by the Proton Foundation vs private investors
    • Board composition: How many seats in Proton AG’s Board of Directors are tied to the Foundation vs private owners
    • Basic revenue breakdown: Subscriptions, donations, merch, etc (as percentages, since absolute figures may be sensitive)

    These are not requests for detailed financial disclosures or anything that would harm competitiveness. They are simple, aggregated signals that help users understand whether Proton’s structure and incentives are likely to remain aligned with its stated values over time.

20. IMAP Label Support in Proton Mail Bridge (X‑GM‑EXT‑1 or equivalent)

    Hello Proton Mail Bridge Team,

    I would like to request support for applying Proton Mail labels via IMAP.

    Currently, the Bridge exposes labels as IMAP folders (e.g., Labels/Paperless), but it does not support any IMAP mechanism for applying a label to a message.

    This creates a limitation:
    - When a user labels an email in Proton Mail, the Bridge shows it in both INBOX and the label folder (virtual projection).
    - When an IMAP client moves a message into Labels/<Label>, the message is removed from INBOX instead of receiving the label.
    - There is no IMAP command available to apply a label while keeping the message in INBOX.

    To enable proper interoperability with IMAP clients that support tagging workflows (e.g., Paperless‑NGX, mail processors, automation tools), it would be extremely helpful if the Bridge implemented an IMAP‑level label mechanism.

    Two possible approaches:
    1. Implement Gmail’s IMAP label extension (X‑GM‑EXT‑1)
    This would allow clients to use:
    STORE <UID> +X-GM-LABELS ("Paperless")
    and would align Proton Mail with the de‑facto standard for IMAP label support.

    1. Provide a Proton‑specific IMAP extension For example: STORE <UID> +X-PM-LABELS ("Paperless") This would allow IMAP clients to apply Proton labels without changing folder membership.

    Why this matters
    - Many automation tools rely on IMAP label support to mark processed emails.
    - Without label support, IMAP clients must MOVE messages, which changes the folder instead of applying a label.
    - This breaks workflows where messages should remain in INBOX but also receive a label.

    Adding IMAP label support would significantly improve compatibility with modern mail automation tools and make Proton Mail Bridge more predictable for IMAP clients.
