  1. Proton Drive keeps removing macOS files

Please provide an option to force ALL Proton Drive files to remain on the local disk. My macOS files keep deleting, leaving behind a ghost file with the cloud download button. This breaks my desktop applications.

You broke Calibre, and now my ebook library is empty. Even after I temporarily download my Proton Drive files.

  2. Proton Drive menulet icon oscillates during mass file sync

The Proton Drive icon in the macOS menubar keeps rapidly changing icons. This happens when syncing several files.

    Please stop this, it's distracting.

Set the icon in terms of the overall sync state (fully in sync vs syncing), instead of setting the icon per individual file progress.

  3. Simple Note sharing for Proton users.

I would like to have a Standard Note where you can share a note with other users. Note has to be editable.

  4. Consider responsibility along with privacy

Privacy is important in this world where our personal information is monetized and almost not controlled by the individual anymore.

However, a potential fallout is the misuse of a private service such as Proton by people who don't take responsibility for their actions or by people who intentionally want to do harm. I understand that Proton cannot take responsibility for how those people use Proton, and I hope that Proton won't risk being taken down due to that kind of usage.

Maybe to prevent that from happening, Proton could use some sort of "good global citizen" wording to encourage users…

  5. Build a better tool to clean the storage.

We don't need more space, we need a good cleaning tool and best organization for the attached files.

  6. Proton Pass: Add a checkbox to note when email used for 2FA

Many online services use email as a form of 2FA.

Would be helpful to add a checkbox to mark login items that behave this way. Then, the report generated for login items missing 2FA, can focus better on accounts that have NO 2FA of any kind.

Later, we can introduce an option to control whether email is considered sufficient security for 2FA, compared to other methods like TOTP and passkeys.

  7. Proton Pass: Add phone number field for login items

Many newer services like messaging applications use a phone number as the primary login identifier.

Also, services use phone numbers to implement 2FA.

Adding a phone number field as an alternative to email or username, helps to improve Proton Pass's UX, and provide more useful results in 2FA checks.

Later, we can introduce an option for users to warn on phone number and/or email address based 2FA.

  8. Wrong 2FA status

Proton Pass presents a redundant warning indicating to enable 2FA for login items that already have passkeys registered with Proton Pass. That's a form of 2FA.

Please treat passkeys as at least as secure as TOTP, when calculating which login items to warn as missing 2FA.

  9. Lag in Proton Mail read/unread status

I often have to refresh the Inbox page multiple times before the viewed status finally settles to the correct Read value. Otherwise it insists the email is Unread. Even though I've opened it multiple times.

  10. Proton Pass WYSIWYG editor truncating Memorable generated passwords

When I use a Memorable password generated by Proton Pass, then Proton Pass makes it difficult to view the entire password all at once.

Please allow the password field to grow vertically to accommodate wrapping across multiple lines.

This problem happens at least in the Google Chrome Proton Pass browser plugin in the WYSIWYG editor UI, and likely happens on other platforms as well.

As long as you're going to generate extremely long passwords like that, you should show them without requiring marqueeing/scrolling the text.

  11. New Suggestions

Hello Proton team! I am writing these lines to suggest 3 new ideas to create, which could be very interesting and very well received by the user in general. And thus Proton would grow in services, to increase the security and privacy of the end user.

The first suggestion is based on creating an app or apps to store phone contacts. Normally this service is divided into 2 apps, one for saving and editing contacts, and another for making calls, viewing call logs, etc.

I don't know if it is mandatory to create these two apps, for a better functioning…

  12. Proton Mail: Better Copy & Paste UX

Please don't show an annoying toast notification every time I copy a recipient email address.

This notification covers up other important UI elements.

The notification isn't horizontally centered in the draft email DIV.

I want an account level option to permanently disable these notifications.

And I want to be able to use industry standard hotkeys (Control+C / Command+C) to copy recipient email addresses.

  13. Automate GDPR data access and data/account deletion requests

    Hi,

I have a large number of online accounts that I want to submit GDPR requests for. However, the process is often labyrinthine, terribly complicated for each individual snowflake website. Multiply that by thousands of websites, and you will never reach the end.

I would like Proton to help me automate the process of submitting GDPR requests for data dumps, as well as requests for data and account deletion, so that I have more tools to manage my online presence more effectively.

  14. Warn on defunct sites

I want a new kind of report: When a public, clearnet, HTTP or HTTPS URL fails to load thirty consecutive days in a row, then warn that the site is likely defunct.

That way, I have a convenient way to filter my login items and cleanup entries for websites that are no longer operating.

  15. Gap in Dark Web Monitoring

Dark Web Monitoring neglects to scan for email addresses that appear in other login fields, such as Notes. This can cause reports of leaked accounts to skip many affected accounts.

What's more, any Dark Web Monitoring report that Proton Pass users have already marked as resolved, should be retroactively unresolved, whenever one or more additional records are found later to be associated with the leak.

Add a product similar to proton business, but for education and schools.
There are many similar products from Google, Microsoft and Apple, but I am very concerned about their privacy.

  17. A web interface to check DKIM

    I own a domain.
I set up DKIM (and SPF) I had some "feedback" about my keys, so I went to check these at easydmarc.com ...one of these failed because it was not RSA (it used ed25519 ...which I gather is "better") it seems many providers do not (yet) support ed25519. But a note in reddit says "protonemail" is one of the few that does ... So I'd like to use a feature similar to https://easydmarc.com/tools/dkim-lookup ... but obviously with the more modern support (as protonemail uses today)

  18. Help for self-memorizing critical passwords

We need to memorize critical passwords by ourselves (Proton, Google, Samsung, Apple, etc...) because we may need to use them without any other technical help (or piece of paper !)
So for theses specific, strong and unique passwords we need to train ourselves regularly, so as not to forget them despite their complexity. It would be great to be regularly challenged by the Proton App to test our memory for selected passwords. And change them sometimes!

  19. Basic Features in Proton Docs

There are many basic features missing from Proton Docs in order to make it functional, so that people can create professional looking documents. Failing these basic features it's effectively just another Notepad. We don't need yet another one of those! We need an online collaborative document tool that's comparable to programs like Word and Google Docs. With the acquisition of Standard Notes, I'm surprised to see that Proton Docs isn't integrated or functioning more like their Super Notes. Some of the features are partially implemented, but so limited that again you can't create professional looking documents.

    Some basic features Proton…

  20. Proton Pass: List field to house recovery codes

    Hi,

I'd like a Recovery Codes field in the login item table, where I can list a few dozen recovery codes per account.

The notes section is risky for this information, because of the inherently unpredictable nature of copying and pasting large blocks of text. Many sites that implement recovery codes end up producing PDF files. People may try the Notes field, which can corrupt that critical data. Or they may even store recovery codes in Dropbox, USB drives, and other competitors to Proton.

A Recovery Codes list field can manage this data more securely and effectively.
