When you have a chat open, clicking the current name of the conversation (near the top) allows to rename it.
The chat must be open though; you can't rename it from the sidebar. -

I agree that the content should be searched as well as the title but I think it's the same issue with search that they have in Proton Mail. Since Lumo is zero-access encryption, then Proton has no access to the content of the chats and thus can't search them on the server to give results back to you.
The workaround they came up with in ProtonMail is to download all the emails into a locally encrypted blob in the browser and then search that. They could implement a similar solution for Lumo.
Problem with that is, as you get more emails (or chats in Lumo's case), the time to download this search index gets longer, to the point where it might take 15-20 minutes (assuming cache was cleared) to download all your chat content so you can search it, especially if Lumo starts supporting PNGs (which I really hope they will).
