This is likely required infrastructure to enable what I described in https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/932842-lumo/suggestions/51280543-native-local-file-integration-cowork-mode-sma — with the specific pain point being the file sync loop.
Even with a local app, if it can't treat local folders as live context (not just static uploads), we end up with the same friction. The key gap is two-way file awareness.
Gupti Raksa raises a valid concern about local indexing on telemetry-heavy OSes — and that furthers why this belongs with Proton, not with ChatGPT or Copilot. Proton with zero-access encryption is uniquely positioned to accomplish this while avoiding the data exposure that mainstream AI tools create. Who creates the index, how it’s created, and its handling is critical.

Search Chats option now shows a list of chats, but I agree it’s not as neat as it could be if you just want to browse all chats. Particularly with the addition of Projects, which take up valuable left nav real estate, the chat history feels clumsy to navigate in the navigation.
