Appimage will not improve security by signature to those appimage.
And they can sign the flatpak version or the snap version. Snap version are already done and signed.
Since they are tagging now devices installation since the French ecological activist and their betrayal on their no log policy, we really don’t care anymore about pgp signatures.

We need the proton team keeping the stand of anonymously and freedom of speech. Not like the last few months where proton had a shift in their policy since the ecological French activist and since you are tagging devices installation.
So the least you could do instead if you don’t want to implement anonymous features like proxy through tor your app, is to dedicate dev team effort through have proper Linux support. Snap is reserved to apparmor supported distribution(so Ubuntu). Flatpak is for all the others and especially fedora. And there are plenty of other posts about that same subject

Proxy version for most of the apps should be a no brainer on desktop and Android at least if not for iOS too
