Full screen email view
Sometimes emails are long and need to be read carefully. Currently, Proton Mail does not allow a received email to be read in full screen either through a popup or by toggling out the columns on the left (listing folders or individual mails). The 'toggle out' function is currently offered by Gmail and Outlook.
I find it frustrating that on a laptop I can only get about 30% of the screen width to read an incoming email. It increases the risk of missing or misconstruing important content.

Aliases like anything@username.proton.me
Hi,
As an alternative format to the unlimited aliases using the “+” sign, can you also allow for the following format?: anything@username.proton.meI think this is a cleaner looking address. Also, although I haven't encountered one .... yet, I have read that some sites that don't allow addresses with the '+' sign in them.
Having only the 'anything' in front of the '@' symbol makes it look cleaner, more professional, easier to identify and looks less like an alias.1 vote -
Plus addressing
As https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_address#Sub-addressing explains, permit +-symbol delimiter for a custom part of the address usable for differentiation of the origin without sending the mail to a different address. Outlook and Gmail support this.

Backup & recovery of e-mails including folder structure and labels
The export tool and the import-export app need the ability to keep the folder structure and labels.
After having to restore hundreds of lost e-mails during an account migration I just discovered that the export tool appears to export all emails but not their location (i.e. sent and received e-mails all appear in one folder, and no folder structure whatsoever is exported). Furthermore, the import-export app only allows to restrict an import to a specific time period, but it does not allow to import certain folders from a backup back into the correct destination folders and using the correct source…

Open Office Support
Support Open Office extensions such as ods and out etc.
If I try to use Google Office apps it insists I save them to Google Drive.
If I try to use Microsoft Office apps it insists I upgrade to Office365 in order to edit any file.
Both Microsoft and Google are anti privacy products.
Open Office apps are the only ones that seem to allow me to control where I store my own data etc.1 vote -
Reveal subfolders on hover (to allow for drag and drop)
When all sub-folders are condensed under main-folder, for those us who use the INBOX as the main gate for all pertinent emails, a feature to drag-drop when we hover over a main-older, which then reveals all the sub-folders, we can drop into the sub-folder. This would not expand the hierarchy but all subs are still condensed under the main-folder

Inboxes per sender
Make the password protected mails better. Give the users a conversation view (an inbox-like site) with all the mails they've gotten from me.
Also, it happens too fast that the next mail you're responding with, you forget to set a password again. Please keep the same password on by default. Basically, just make the whole password protected mail feature like Tutas, I was really impressed when I tested it :)1 vote -
Sort by multiple labels
Love your service. Here's an idea for improvement. I have several email aliases, in addition I have multiple labels as well. Most emails may have more than 1 label, such as "medical" and "receipts". I archive emails for reference later on. In your email "Search In" program, when you select "Other" it only allows 1 selection instead of multiple choices. As an example I would like to search "Archived" and "Medical" and "Receipts". This would return all emails that I've archived with labels relating to medical receipts. Smartwatch interface with Mail
With the market being flooded with smart watches. Now would be a good time to be able to have the email and calendar, at a minimum, able to interface with android and ios watches. Our watches are more convenient to look at on many occasions.

Bounce Scam Emails
Please include a feature to "bounce" scam emails. Thanks to lazy corporations my info is on the dark web. I keep getting scan emails. I'm using proton mail for my personal domain email server. I'd like to bounce emails.

Reset label search box after selecting label
When I search for a label and apply it, I often want to add a second label as well. It would be great if the search box automatically reset upon selection so that I can immediately search for my second (and third, ...) label.
If it helps: how Gmail does it. This is probably my #1 UX annoyance after switching.

Select text and paste URL (instead of "insert link" button)
Many email providers allow to select a piece of text and paste a URL to become a hyperlink. In proton you need to select the text, then go to the button "insert link" and paste your link there. Pasting directly the link to the selected text would be much faster. Please develop this tiny feature, it's a quick win!.

Customize favorite labels in reading action menu
In the web application when reading an email there is an action menu for the email on the screen: "mark as read/unread, move to folder, move to trash, label, filter, etc.".
I would like to be able to choose some favorite labels and have them show up on this menu bar so I don't have to hunt for them in the label menu. Likewise you could use a simple algorithm to show the commonly used labels here as well. I have a lot of labels but tend to apply some frequently and don't have easy logic to be able to…

Send encrypted email without password (user clicks a link to respond)
Why can you only send a Password-protected Emails? It should be optional for receiver to just click a link. That way its easier for them, and the secure message can still expire..

Customize email notifications per product
I'd like to be able to control notifications for email separately from notifications for calendar. On both MacOS and iOS, I only see one place to configure notifications and it affects both mail and calendar. If I must receive a notification for every single email, then to avoid this continuous distraction, I'm forced to disable notifications altogether, meaning I won't receive any notifications for my calendar appointments.
Additionally, whether or not to see the red unread message count overlayed on my Proton Mail icon in MacOS should be configurable. That's another unneeded distraction.

Allow download only option for PDFs
When it was requested, you did not give us the opportunity to preview PDFs, you FORCED us to preview them. I do not and never want to preview PDFs, as I ONLY use my pdf software to view PDFs. Now, you MUST preview it before you download it. I have had nothing but problems by closing protonmail entirely due to your poor interface with the PDF previewer closer when I try to close the PDF, I keep hitting the "close preview window" button, but it's also the "close PM" button. Automated folder filtering during Easy Switch
Setting up Gmail forwarding as a new user to Proton almost made me quit the platform, it was so daunting to have that much data thrown at me. Setting up an easy transition like a dedicated Gmail forwarding folder option would make the transition alot easier for new users. Or predetermined filters that new users could setup, for example anything Social media related is filtered into a folder along with anything on a newsletter list.

Easier access to filters
If I want to create a new filter or update an existing one, as it stands, I have to click settings, then click the [i]real[/i] settings, load a new page, then click filters. THEN, after I've done what I needed, I have to reload the inbox. That's a lot of hassle just to make sure new letters are getting labeled and sorted properly!
Ideally, I should be able to copy an address from my inbox and put it in my filters without reloading the page. If possible, I would like an icon somewhere on the inbox page that pops out…
