  1. Make unread emails discernible within a conversation thread.

While emails are collapsed, it would be easier to find the UNREAD messages if they were highlighted or indicated somehow. I have a 17 message thread with 1 unread message that I have to dig just to find. An unread tab filtering system might be an option, too, which would sequester the unread message by itself within the tab, enabling quick ease of access to new messages in very busy conversations.

  3. 1 click logout button

Currently it takes 2 clicks to logout of Protonmail. There's no reason for this, 1 is plenty enough. We should have a logout button on top: 1 click and you're out. Simple and fast, that's how it should always be.

  5. Right-click menu / contextual menu option

It would be more comfortable to reach common action commands like reply, delete, archive etc. etc. after an right-click with the mouse on the specific email/folder which reacts with a contextual menu pop-up.

  6. Support for larger attachments

I've had quite a few emails from family and friends bounce back to them because my email rejected the attachments at too large (only a few photographs). Larger attachment support would be nice

  7. Optional keyring access to enable encrypted communications with external users.

Since this service uses OpenPGP it would be nice to have a simple way to import public keys from external users so two-way encrypted communication could be achieved.

Since the symmetric encryption model requires sharing a password it is vulnerable compared to a true keypair model. For people who aren't scared by PGP (It's really not complicated these days), this creates an incentive not to use your service until manual keyring additions can be made.

  9. Mailing Groups

Add contact tags for quicker message composition. Similar to mailing groups, but not for mass emailing. It is for sending to small groups.

  13. Mobile app for Jolla's Sailfish OS

    Hi,

Protonmail is a great service, but protecting your emails is still not enough to guarantee privacy. Considering that Google openly admits it is capitalizing on all the data stored in our Android devices, and that Apple or BlackBerry simply do not communicate on the data that they collect, protecting our privacy will require more than encrypted emails.

A new smartphone software company focused on software has been launched by former Nokia employees: Jolla (http://jolla.com/). It is focused on data privacy, and wishes to become an alternative to Android. It has already shipped a smartphone and a tablet.

  14. Ability to remove quote indent of e-mail text

The WYSIWIG editor for e-mail composition does not offer a button for un-quoting a section of text. Sometimes I copy text from an earlier e-mail message into a new e-mail message, but the text is pasted as quote-indented. I would like to retain any formatting, but un indent / un-quote the pasted text.

  16. Move Sent Mail to Inbox

I would sometimes like to move sent mail from the Sent Mail folder to my Inbox. However, there is no way to do this directly. One must first delete sent mail from the Sent Mail folder, then move it from the Trash to the Inbox. Thus, two operations that should be one. Moreover, I have repeatedly seen sent mail thus trashed and then restored to the Inbox automatically removed from the Inbox without my instruction and restored to the Sent Mail folder, thus necessitating the two operations again. I do not mind if, after moving a Sent Mail email to…

  17. Mobile client to support Gmail, Outlook, etc accounts

If the mobile apps could also connect to other mail services, I would be able to dump outlook and the iOS mail client in favour of yours. Especially if it also supported s/mime which I use in the iOS client.

We have the ability to create a Blackberry app, but are focused instead on iOS and Android. We may build one later this year, or explore the idea of opening our API for the community to build one instead.

  19. Larger Checkbox

The checkbox on the left of each email should be larger! It becomes a hassle when there's many emails I want to select.
