Open the next email automatically after deleting or moving the first one
When I delete a message I want to go directly to the next email, instead of going to the inbox and then click the next email.
This feature is a simple one, but when you have to read a lot of emails it saves a lot of time.
It is available both in Gmail and Yahoo.
Thank you for your attention.
Work on this feature has started, beginning with iOS availability.

I am trying out proton mail and this will be a huge consideration on if I keep using it. I decided just to sign up for 1 month premium to see if I liked it before going in for a full 24 months. As much as I am getting sick of Googles new rules this is a critical issue for me, without this type of feature I will look for another email provider.

If you're following this thread, I have a solution for you...
Having switched to Proton from Gmail I also found this really irritating - repeatedly clicking into the next email is desperately tedious...so I wrote some code to fix it.
https://github.com/tompos2/proton_mail_auto_select_next_message (full instructions included)Its a userscript that uses Javascript to modify the ProtonMail UI to auto-advance to the next message in your inbox when you press Archive, Delete or Spam in the toolbar.
You don't need any technical knowledge to get it working - just follow the instructions on the Github page. You install the Tampermonkey Browser Extension in Chrome or Firefox, install the script and it will just work.
Currently working with the Archive, Delete and Spam buttons in the main toolbar ONLY.
The invisible buttons that appear on hover in the email list, and the buttons in the email pane itself don't work for now, nor does dragging and dropping emails to folders. But it shouldn't be too much work to add these - if you need this let me know, and I'll see what I can do...
Would love to hear any feedback and if this is useful for you!

They just added this on the mobile app. Maybe it will happen on the web app as well.

It blows me away that this is not already a feature. I have a hard time even calling it a feature; in virtually every other client I've used it's just the way it is or easily turned on. It may sound silly to some, but without this feature it's really hard to keep using the product. The workflow suffers more than I'd like to allow. And it's been here since 2016? Eight years ago? SMH.

I see this is a common request and would like to add my interest. After reading a mail, deleting it, etc., move on to the next email instead of returning to the Inbox.
This feature is available in Outlook, Yahoo, and Gmail. I am migrating from Outlook exclusively to Proton, so I would like it to work as well as possible. Thank you. -

This would be a large boost in productivity for a relatively small amount of effort. Even without power users in mind, it would be so much easier and efficient to open the next email automatically instead of clicking "Down" -> "Enter" or manually clicking on the next email.

Its totally unbelievable that you seem to ignore this request that came 8 years ago. Please show us that you care at all by at least commenting your thoughts for this request.

This is an absolute must for me. For those that don’t want it, make it a setting.

It constantly amazes me how Proton ignores basic UI stuff like this. Webmail has been around for decades, just copy the basics that Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, Fastmail, etc have all trained users to expect, and differentiate your product by its great security features rather than it's unfriendly interface.

I would want this not only after deleting, but on other actions such as marking as spam, archiving, or moving the email to another folder.

Coming over from M365 / Outlook for Mac, and this is a critical workflow item for me to triage email on a daily basis quickly. We were about to move our company over to Proton for Business but are hesitant now seeing something as simple as this lingering for years.

Does someone at Proton really user their own interface with keyboard shortcuts?
****, didn't know this wasn't possible. Feels like it's a standard thing that I had with gmail / fastmail for years.

Simply put - this is the reason I haven't been able to stick with ProtonMail. And if I can't stick with Mail, then I'm not sticking with Calendar, Pass, VPN, etc...
Fastmail do it perfectly - an option in the settings. Keeps everyone happy.

I would like if Protonmail has an auto advance feature like it has in Gmail.
There you have a setting where you can choose what happens after deleting/ archiving/ moving a conversation. Options could be:
- go to next conversation
- go to previous conversation
- go back to list (happens currently)With that feature, it is easier to manage many emails in a short period of time, since after you archived or deleted an email you've seen you already can see the next/ previous and not have to manually click the next.
