Nested Labels
Ahem... GMail-like - but nested labels would be a real plus!

Nested labels are essential for me. It's the one missing feature preventing me from switching to protonmail completely.

Allow folders and their respective sub-folders to be collapsed. Would allow for a cleaner side tab when the user has many folders with subfolders. Similiar to what gmail offers. Apply this to labels as well.

My Gmail migration just crashed because your system didn't understand my nested labeling :(

Allow creation of sub-labels and parent labels just as is available for folders

Please implement nested labels. I want to ditch gmail but I can't without this. I don't want a list of a zillion different labels. I have major labels like work, kids, travel, and under them I have sub-labels for many different things.
I tried folders, but folders don't solve the problem of this huge long list of labels, where in gmail I have just a short list of main labels that I can expand to see all the sub-labels.
This is what will keep me from using protonmail as my main email and I will search for another non-google solution. Perhaps the rumored X-mail if it's any good.

there's not even a need to implement 'nested' labels specifically, IMO the idea of nesting labels is an implementation choice by Google that didn't fully get or maximize the power of labels.
Simply allow searching by more than one label, which achieves the same result more elegantly. There's no need for nested `reservations/air` label when we can just apply `reservations` and `air` and search for BOTH of them together.

Please implement nested labels, it's one of the main things preventing me from finishing migrating fully from Gmail.

Sorry if duplicated...I've not used labels yet, but if you have assigned labels then one thing is necessary; the ability to reassign existing labels for all email messages to another label. Especially if nested labels are implemented.

This is definitely a big feature to be missing! The current folder / label paradigm works for some people, but I have only ever been comfortable with nested labels for sorting messages.
Please consider adding this useful feature.

Still no traction on this? I don't understand why they use both folders and labels. Apart from being far superior in function, labels can be used as a full replacement to folders with no drawbacks at all. The only benefit folders offer is that it can have sub-folders, but that is only because Protonmail hasn't implemented nested labels.
This is the singe reason why I keep my Google business account. I have been waiting several years for this to be implemented. Please remove the folders and go all in on labels.

This ticket dates back to 2015! What a shame.

Nested labels are incredibly convenient and are supported by my former email provider (fastmail - see https://www.fastmail.help/hc/en-us/articles/360058753554-Setting-up-and-using-labels). Importing seems to put things into nested folders instead and it isn't clear how multiple labels on a single message are handled.
Also, there appears to be a nesting limit on folders within proton mail (3 deep?) that it would be nice to have removed.

@Adriano Can I put an email inside 2 differents nested folders?
Because I could put 2 differents labels on a folder.

You can use nested folders instead.

This feature is missed. However, should be nested in a way that a query for the main label (label) should show all mail with this label, including sub labels (label-sub1, label-sub2 etc...) Adn sub-label only shows tjhat specific sub label. com on Proton team. This suggestion is from 2015.

Very important, especially if you have multiple emails under one account. I have hundreds of labels and need to be able to organize them by account. Folders will not work because multiple labels may apply to a single message.
Folders work for the highest level of organization - e.g., separate incoming mail by recipient address. But then labels and nested labels are needed for organizing mail belonging to a certain email address.

It's the reason that I am not switching to protonmail. Your move Proton Team.
