  3. Option to Disable APNs and Use Encrypted Background Updates for Email Notifications (iOS)

Currently, the Proton Mail iOS app relies on Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) to deliver new email alerts. While convenient, this introduces a third-party dependency that can potentially compromise privacy.

I suggest adding an option — similar to what the Session messenger app offers — to disable APNs and instead enable encrypted background polling for new emails. This would allow the Proton Mail app to periodically check for new messages in the background, without involving Apple’s servers.

This feature would give privacy-conscious users more control over their data and reduce reliance on Apple infrastructure for private communications.

    Ideally, this would…

  4. Auto Public Key Lookup for External PGP Emails

Please consider adding support for automatic public key lookup (e.g., via WKD or keyservers) when sending encrypted emails to non-ProtonMail users. This feature would reduce manual key exchange steps and make it easier to securely communicate with external PGP users — similar to how tools like Mailvelope handle it.

  5. Option to Remove "Version: ProtonMail" Line in PGP Messages

Currently, ProtonMail includes a Version: ProtonMail line in the header of PGP-encrypted emails. While this is technically harmless, it reveals the encryption tool used. For users who prioritize maximum anonymity, an option to disable or omit this line would be a valuable privacy enhancemen

  6. Better workflow of running filters (filtering existing emails)

It seems that there's a (very narrow) limit of how many filtering processes can be run at the same time and with a large mailbox the filtering processes can take significant amount of time.
This doesnt affect the incoming emails, but is a huge problem when someone creates new filters to parse existing emails.
There are actually three different problems here but with a same root cause:
    1. Proton doesnt allow queueing filtering processes.
    2. When adding a new filter from an existing email and marking "Apply to existing emails" while another filtering process(es) is/are running, there's no warning/error message…

  7. undisclosed recipients

When sending an email to multiple recipients who are all on bcc, instead of them receiving it with 'undisclosed recipients' in their 'to' field, just put their email address in the 'to' field.
They should get the email as if it weren't bcc and I can't think of a reason why it shouldn't be done like this.
You can make it an option in settings if you like.
It may be that this is a 'standard' that all email systems do, i.e. put in undisclosed recipients for bcc addresses but protonmail does this also for protonmail email addresses that are…

  10. Give every sender a different color

Give every Sender a different color for their Letter.
Idk if you understand what I mean, but every sender has a Letter as their icon right? On Gmail, Thunderbird etc. every Letter gets a different background color to distinguish them better from other mails.

This would make the overview cleaner and faster to navigate. Thanks in advance

  11. Match the app layout to the website

The Website/Web app of protonmail has a better look and it does present more features and information.
    For example:
1: on the web app, you see the attachments directly below the mails,

2: You have a sorting button and a filter button for all, read, unread, with attachments,

3: And you can directly star a message by pressing the star on the right. You cant do that on the app, you have to long-press the message and then open the menu etc.

And ofc there are some(many) features missing, such as the text editor when composing a new message, missing…

  13. Proton Contacts mobile app

    Hellove!

Yesterday I used Google Contacts (and/or the default Huawei contacts) app on my Android phone.

Tomorrow, I will use the secure and lovely Proton Contacts app for Android (and possibly iOS - there are probably iOS users who would want this, too).

From this Proton Contacts app, I will also be able to do my regular calls, browse call logs, see favourite contacts and groups for contacts, and utilize a search function for it all.

Please strongly consider making this tomorrow today, Proton Team <3

    Thank you!

  14. "keep an email in sight"

  15. Hide android pulldown notification content - Email subject

In the android Mail app, when an email is received, have the notification simply show 'email received' with no subject line or sender or anything, just like FB messenger can do.

  16. Schedule via keyboard shortcut access to actions dropdown

I don't see a shortcut to get to actions dropdown where the sender can schedule their email.

Once the actions dropdown is open, it's fairly simple to schedule with the keyboard. Currently I have to tab about 20 times before I can get it open though.

For me this is a big one to miss out on, it should be beneath the heading "Composer Shortcuts" beneath the command "Send email" when looking at the keyboards shortcut cheat sheet.

Hope to get some traction for this, it will be a game changer!

  19. Block and delete button

A large amounts of spam that's being received these days, are unwanted marketing emails (services that we've never subscribed to) that are not being filtered out. It's a huge waste of time to go through these emails every day and unsubscribe them.

There is a block sender feature, however on mobile it's a bit unconvenient to reach and desktop as well it would be super helpful if there is an easy to access Block & Delete button that allows to quickly skim through new unwanted emails and in one click (or keyboard shortcut) delete the email and block the sender.

  20. new emails in conversation at the top

In an email conversation, the newest emails should ALWAYS be at the top of the conversation, not at the bottom. In long conversations, why should I have to manually scroll all the way to the bottom to read a new email??? This is one of 3 things that frustrates me about Proton Mail.

2: On the desktop, you should be able to toggle up or down between emails using the arrow keys, like Apple Mail does. This should be standard, not something you have to suggest.

3: When deleting an email or email conversation, the next email should AUTOMATICALLY be
