  1. Sending E2EE emails to non-Proton users without the manual password/key hassle

I’ve been a very happy user and I’m incredibly grateful for what the Proton team has built. Proton is easily the best at privacy when both sides are on the platform, but recently I’ve been sending a lot of sensitive documents—IDs, bank docs, and contracts—to government officials. It’s made me realize that while Proton is great for privacy if both sides use it, it’s still a huge headache when your recipient isn’t a Proton user or a tech freak.

Right now, we have two options for non-Proton users, and both have major real-world friction. First, there’s PGP. Unless the recipient…

  2. Ability to Delete or Deactivate Original Account Email Address

For users that have been with Proton for a long time and created an [account username]@protonmail.com and/or [account user name]@pm.me email address, you are not allowed to delete or deactivate these addresses. Needs change over time and Proton has offered newer domains that many of us switched to, but we cannot delete or deactivate those original addresses in settings or by emailing customer service.you can delete or deactivate other aliases, but none that have your original user name before the @. This should be easy to do and we should not be required to keep these old addresses…

  3. Folder Icons in Addition to Colors

In addition to folder colors, which we could have more of, would it be possible to add simple shapes to folders for more customization? For example, overlay a small plus sign, cross, circle, square and more on top of the folder icon.

With this we could label folders not only as green or blue, but green, blue, green with triangle, blue with plus sign, etc.

Since folders and backgrounds can be various colors, the icon might need color options too. Settings such as transparent (ie the shape will be cut out of the folder and take the color of…

  4. Customizable Android notification actions

There are currently three actions on the notification "Archive", "Trash" and "Mark Read". It would be great to be able to customize those such as we already can with the swipe actions.

I for one would never have mark read and archive there, but would add snooze and spam.

  5. In Android Mail App, support mapping the delete button to delete message not thread.

Deleting message is more useful than deleting thread. Currently, to delete the message, it takes a scroll to the top and two clicks: one to open the menu, another click to move message to trash. There already is customization of the button toolbar, but mapping to delete message does not seem possible.

  6. Notifications for when calendar event is ending

I need a notification sometimes for when my events are ending not just when they're beginning.

It would really help me keep track of the passing of time when I'm deep into my work/study time and need to clock out/wrap up on time.

I'd suggest it work the same way notifications are set up at the beginning of an event, especially that it is an event by event basis to opt into and that you can customize the time of notification (could be 10 min or 30 min etc)

Thank you for considering and reading! I'd appreciate a vote…

  7. Bring Web App Themes to Mobile Apps

This could be a relatively simple update for Proton - I'd love to see more themes and customizations within the mobile apps. The web app has great themes and it'd be great to bring these over to the mobile apps. Right now, the mobile app themes are a little bit plain. It would be nice to be able to switch it up!

  8. Mail mobile: fix swipe to honor last gesture made

I customized my swipe controls: swipe right to archive, swipe left to delete. But if I start to swipe left and notice the red trash icon, then swipe right instead, I see the green archive icon but the message still gets deleted instead of archived. Same in reverse. You need to make it respect whatever action I do before lifting my finger, regardless of if I started a different motion before that.

  9. Make the ICS feed live or nearly so! Every 4 hours is really too outdated:(

The current ICS feed is only updated every approx. 4 hours as per customer service.

While I understand this is “by design”, this means we cannot share an updated view of our calendar and risk overbooking etc which can be very impacting for work.

I have now spent several weeks trying to set up a booking system and it is really problematic.

Being able to share an up to date calendar is really important nowadays.

  10. Creating events with notifications is tedious

Some points of friction scheduling events:

    • Adding an event on month view selects by default "All day". I don't think that using month-view justifies defaulting to "all day" events. I like using calendar view just to have an oversight of the month. I never need "all day" events, so this checkbox always has to be de-selected.

    • To add a notification, it's also needed to click first on "more options", and this also opens a new popup, which is kind of disruptive. Inline experience like e.g. Apple Calendar is much smoother.

    • Default notification options: "notification 15 minutes before" and "email 15…

  11. Dynamic / Preset‑Driven Layout for Proton Mail Desktop

    Short Description
Allow users to control how the Proton Mail interface/layout adapts to different screen sizes, offering automatic, preset‑based, fixed, and power‑user‑customizable layout modes.

    Proposed Behavior / Modes
    1. Automatic
The app detects the current viewport size and selects the most suitable layout on‑the‑fly (compact on narrow windows, spacious on wide ones).
    2. Preset‑by‑Screen‑Size
Users create named presets (e.g., Laptop‑Compact, Monitor‑Spacious) that define panel visibility, widths, and other UI choices. The app automatically applies the appropriate preset whenever the detected screen width falls within the preset’s defined range.
    3. Fixed (Static) Layout
A single layout is locked and never…

  12. Increase the cap on address deletions for paid users and display clear UI about cap limit

There is a very strict cap on how many and how often addresses can be deleted. As a Mail Plus customer, I get 10 addresses in total - which is a solid value - but I can apparently only delete one every year (?) or so. The actual cap limit is not published - the app simply fails with an error when try to delete a second address "too soon".

I understand why deleting addresses is strictly capped: to prevent abuse, and it also appears to be a technologically somewhat expensive, plus that address is now forever unavailable to…

  13. Overhaul of folders and unread email identification

I know there are similar requests in this vain, but I wanted to consolidate ways to deal with the "problem" here.

With the emphasis on aliases and the use of SimpleLogin (or similar) within Proton Mail ("PM"), for those of us that are (to a fault) uber-organized, the sidebar has become a huge list of folders to help manage all the emails from all the aliases. Filters place emails directly into the appropriate folders to be dealt with. In an overkill of organization, subfolders are used as well.

Example: a master folder might be "Travel" and general travel-related emails end…

  14. Add more notificaiton sound choices.

I'm a bit hard of hearing, as are many; the current default incoming mail sound is too soft and nondistinct. Even running Boom 3D, it's too soft to be noticed most of the time. Allowing the user to customize sounds would be ideal.
