Split tunneling for macOS
For Mac, split tunnelling is available from the browser's plugins. We should be able to do the same from proton VPN app itself. The best if this can be configured as a template so you can link it to any existing connection or profile

I only need the VPN enabled for certain programs, but I need them to not connect without the VPN. Not having split tunneling on Mac means I can have programs connect to the internet without a VPN on accident.

Odd that not many more people have requested this as a must have. So many applications do not work properly when VPN is enabled! Be good to get a timeline when this is planned to be implemented. Thanks

Split tunneling on the MacOS app is essential for me because I need to exclude a certain domain or application from the VPN for work. We use Citrix to connect in and aren't allowed to connect via a VPN, so this means I can't be protected on my personal computer whilst connected to work.

Brazil is censoring many sites and platforms.
Having the VPN enabled for all services is not the best alternative.
Using split tunneling for only a few of them would be ideal. -

This feature request should be merged with a prior one: https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/932836-proton-vpn/suggestions/41963314-split-tunnel-support-for-macos

Yep - same here. I tried out ExpressVPN recently to see if I was able to surf to sites that block the Proton IP addresses - but it was much of a muchness really.
However, their MacOS app did support Split Tunnelling which I found useful and am surpised that the Proton app doesn't have it yet. There is another request for the same featurefrom a few years ago so it seems like this isn't a priority.

I'm quite surprise that a very good, well known and established VPN operator like Proton VPN only offering a pretty basic feature on Android TV apps. What's the point for if your selling point can offer high quality streaming anywhere and every around the world if the app itself lacking of split tunnelling feature. Please consider this as your future apps developement feature.

Split tunneling is quite important and needed. Also it'll bring ProtonVPN with parity with Windows and Android and other VPN services.

Other VPN providers on MacOS implement split tunnel already. There is also an API for it already that just needs to be utilized.

I would imagine that implementing this feature would be incredibly difficult given how.Apple designed MacOS to be incredibly sandboxed. To the developers at Proton, check out Vopono¹ for a possible approach as how this could be done.
Update: PIA uses proxies? Mullvad, though multi-step, offers guidance on setting up split tunneling on Mac's using Tunnelblick and SOCKS. See https://mullvad.net/en/help/split-tunneling-mullvad-vpn and https://mullvad.net/en/help/socks5-proxy
In any event, this is the only missing feature preventing me from using ProtonVPN full time.

Surprisingly, ProtonVPN has been probably my favorite Proton Technologies product since joining the service, initially for email. Split tunneling is great because some websites don't like it when you try to access them with a VPN. I wish it was available on other platforms besides PC, though. Mac and iOS at the very least would be very helpful for me.

You have split tunnel (by application) on Windows. I would like the feature to be available on macOS.
