  2. Split tunneling for macOS

    For Mac, split tunnelling is available from the browser's plugins. We should be able to do the same from proton VPN app itself. The best if this can be configured as a template so you can link it to any existing connection or profile

  3. Split Tunneling: Two Different VPN Connections Simultaneously

    If technically feasible, I would find it great if two VPN connections could be established simultaneously via split tunneling, for example one for streaming and one for everything else, or one with port-forwarding and at the same time a second one without port-forwarding.

  4. Show currently connected devices and their IP addresses, etc within your account page.

    Add the ability to view the number of currently connected devices, with supporting information such as their IP, connected time, etc within your proton account page.

    mplement the ability to chose the blocking lists we want against ads.
    Like Nextdns does.

  6. Tailscale exit nodes

    I would love to be able to use Proton VPN as exit nodes on Tailscale.

    They recently announced support for Mullvad exit nodes, and I'm sure they would be interested in adding more options:

  8. Game Server Proximity Connection

    This feature could enhance the gaming experience for VPN users. Upon initiating a gaming session, the VPN would identify the location of the game server to which the user is connected. The VPN would then select and connect to its own server that is geographically closest, or lowest ping to the game server. This process ensures optimal latency and performance by minimizing the distance data has to travel between the VPN server and the game server, potentially providing a better gaming experience.

  11. Auto upgrade Android VPN (crazy using Google play store to upgrade)

    How crazy is it for a company like Proton with high privacy standards, using "Google" to download an upgrade!!!!!

    Why not having an "auto" upgrade feature, bypassing Google in all cases?

  12. Option for Gig speed support. Premium is ok

    There is a fast-developing trend in US for consumers easily accessing prosumer class high speed fiber for reasonable prices. 5-10 Gb. Mac mini supports 10GbE. USB-C supports 10Gb. Thunderbolt 5 available on Mac... It would be valuable if some of these bandwidth levels weren't bottlenecked at the VPN. My best case seems to be from 10GbE shunted down to ~750 MbE if using ProtonVPN... So the choice is speed OR security? Prosumers are not very price sensitive...

  13. VPN on/off widget for iOS 17

    It would be great if we could have a regular widget with on/off and pause option. It would be very practical compared to having to open the app every time you want to perform any of those actions.

  14. Split Tunnel: individual WiFi SSID subnet whitelists for VPN bypass, plus Kill Switch coexistence

    Allowing split tunneling to combine with kill switch is a common request, and is pretty important for many people. Also an available feature of other VPN services. This is needed.

    Turning off VPN for even a split second in order to access something on your local network significantly degrades the anonymity the VPN was providing you (all local apps get to phone home with the latest connection information, that data shared/sold/crossreferenced with other data obtained while connected to VPN, etc). I do not want a single packet leaving my phone/tablet unless it is protected by VPN -OR- going directly to…

  15. Allow Killswitch to be enabled with Split Tunnel

    Currently, the app will not allow you to use the Split Tunnel feature if you have the Killswitch enabled. Having migrated from Private Internet Access, I was used to having this possibility with their client and would love to see this in Proton VPN as well.

    Having some exceptions configured to bypass the VPN should not completely block the killswitch feature and open the risk of IP leaks.

    I would be okay with the VPN app completely killing my bypassed connections as well, it wouldn't even have to be gracefully respecting those. That would just be a nice-to-have.

  16. Stop changing RPM repository signing key all the time

    Almost everytime I run "dnf update" on my system, the ProtonVPN repository signing keys have changed.

    I have to validate them again and again, without knowing if the key I'm allowing is really the good one (I even don't know where to look for the actual one).

    I think I'm not the only one trusting the new signing key blindly every because I'm annoyed, which is terrible from a security standpoint.

    Please keep your signing keys longer, as every sane repository does.

  17. Change desktop app icon color to indicate connection status

    The proton VPN app icon currently shows the connection status by showing a tiny cross sign or a tick, which is hardly noticeable when you have a high-resolution monitor. Changing the icon colour will make it much better. This can even be an option for the user to select the icon they would like to see when the connection is established or disconnected.

    I'm currently a NordVPN subscribere and it looks like all of my needs except one will be met by Proton VPN. The only thing missing is SmartDNS feature:

    SmartDNS is a technology based on using your DNS to unblock geo-restricted sites and services. It’s somewhat similar to how proxy servers route your internet traffic through a remote server to hide your real IP address and physical location.

  19. Make Proton VPN's Windows UI More Consistent with Mobile Apps

    I wanted to share some thoughts on the UI for Windows, it doesn’t really match the look and feel of the Android or iOS versions (though I haven’t used the iOS app in a while, so I’m not sure how it looks now). Compared to the Android app, the Windows version feels less polished.

    The font looks outdated, and the unrounded corners on things like the flags and the window itself clash with the design of the app, since there are rounded corners alongside them. Also, it should show the cities of the server location, and have better custom profile…

  20. Timer for the random Vpn

    I would like to see the possibility to use the random Vpn option as a default one, with a timer to change the location constantly. I often use my devices for long period without setting them off, and time to time I change the server or the location for better privacy. But it would be nice to be able to set this automatically.
