  1. Split Tunneling and Kill Switch

ProtonVPN Topic "How to use advanced kill switch" states that "On most platforms, kill switch (Advanced or Standard) is not compatible with split tunneling. If you have split tunneling turned on, you’ll need to turn it off to use a kill switch". I don't know what ProtonVPN means by most VPN's, but I have been able to activate Split Tunneling simultaneously with Kill Switch on numerous VPN's on my iMac, ie: PIA VPN, SurfsharkVPN, NordVPN, and ExpressVPN. Hopefully ProtonVPN will correct this problem for Mac as it's available for Windows. It's very unsafe to not have a Kill Switch and…

  2. Re-enable access to API

Until recently, users could access the API (https://api.protonvpn.ch/vpn/logicals) to filter servers based on various criteria (e.g., country and server load) to ensure connection to a server that isn't overloaded. This ability was removed within the past few days. Support replied with the following:

Hello, Thank you for contacting us. Public access to the https://api.protonvpn.ch/vpn/logicals endpoint is no longer available due to internal changes. What you were using previously was not officially supported, and you can either use our native application to access the servers and their load, or manually download config files for a manual connection from https://account.protonvpn.com/downloads. If you need any

  3. Why on earth would you ban the use of your unlimited paid VPN in Windows 7?

As far as I know, even though Microsoft no longer supports Windows 7, we can still use it at our own risk!
What’s gotten into you to act even worse than they do?
Why not let us use your VPN?
What’s in it for you to arbitrarily cut us off? Pressure from Microsoft? A business agreement?

  4. [TV App] - Kill Switch

Can we please have a kill switch added to the TV applications, this is asked for over and over I understand it may not be the most pressing item to add but it really is needed, many of the other apps I've tried do have this implemented and one of the points of using a VPN is to mask over our real IP, sadly I've had the TV app disconnect numourus times leading to my real IP being exposed, this happened just yesterday twice and I couldn't understand or find out the issue so a kill switch would ultimately solve…

  5. Keep Windows 7 support, please don't force us onto Windows 10/11

    Hi everyone,

I was shocked to see Proton VPN drop Windows 7 support yesterday, 07/07/2026. Please provide a legacy client or a 12-month transition period for Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit users.

Forcing upgrades to Windows 10/11 contradicts Proton’s privacy mission. Features like default 'typing personalisation' (keystroke monitoring) and Windows 11’s 'Recall' (automated screenshots) severely compromise privacy.

I use Windows 7 for technical autonomy. Switching to Linux isn't viable as I rely on expensive, proprietary engineering software.

We choose Proton to protect our data. Please don't force us into privacy-invasive OS environments. We need a working Windows 7 solution.

  6. Linux client - AppImage support

AppImage has a number of advantages that Snap and Flatpak do not have.

    1. Portability.

    2. No dependencies.

    3. Ease of use.

    4. Compatibility with any distribution.

Supporting AppImage would be a significant step for the development of ProtonVPN on Linux. For example, in countries with high levels of censorship, it can be very difficult to download the ProtonVPN client from the internet without being connected to another VPN service. A portable version of ProtonVPN would solve this problem.

  7. Netshield ad blocker - add possibility to whitelist domains/subdomains

I need to deactivate the ad-blocker in Netshield when I visit certain websites (eg. Google Analytics). Please add the possibility to whitelist some domains/subdomains so we don't have to disable this feature.

  8. Split-Tunneling

Someone please explain why ProtonVPN cannot have the Kill-Switch and Split-Tunneling both activated at the same time. There are lots of times I have to disconnect ProtonVPN to access some Internet sites. Not having a Kill-Switch and disconnecting the VPN defeats the purpose of a VPN; a Kill-Switch is a must. Other VPN allow both the Kill-Switch and Split-Tunneling to be activated at the same time; why can't ProtonVPN do the same. Hopefully a Proton Team Member will explain.

  9. Split tunneling, select which app connects through which country

It would be great if Proton VPN split tunneling worked so that I can select which app's traffic is routed through whic country. For example, I'd like to select that Youtube goes through Moldova, Firefox through Netherlands, banking app through Germany etc. This could maybe be built into profiles as well so I can quickly set up even different split tunneling scenarios.

  11. Prioritize physical servers instead of the virtual servers on countries with both

Right now, in Indonesia we have both physical servers and virtual servers. The thing is, when u click connect to Indonesia. It will randomly choose the virtual servers instead of the physical servers. In my opinion this is a flawed logic because not only do we have more added latency. There are also a few different sites that can tell that Proton's virtual IPs are not actually from Indonesia. Not only that, having ProtonVPN prioritize physical servers means that you will also most likely have a better speed and experience overall because we wont have to worry about the quality…

  12. Improved feature list for Apple TV

Apple TV works OK but is bare on features compared to the Android TV app. Would like to see a more complete feature list for the Apple TV, such as split tunnelling, choosing with server within a country, which Protocol etc.

  14. Port C/C++ code to Rust

Mullvad VPN moved from Wireguard-go to GotaTun for improved Wireguard performance and security. Please consider doing the same for Proton. After all, Mullvad has already done most of the work.

In a rapidly-changing security landscape (e.g. Claude Mythos), memory-safe code is more crucial than ever – especially for something as important and system-wide as a VPN.

  15. Favorite Countries in Linux App

There should be an option to mark countries as favorites. This is possible in the Android app and should also be available on Linux.

  16. Allow profiles to select a city on macOS/iOS

This is already available with Windows and Android, please bring this existing feature to macOS and iOS.

It's especially useful for users in bilingual countries, where only being able to select a country at the profile/quick connect level often lands you on a server in a city that speaks a different language (and thus causes websites to default to the wrong language).

Selecting by city is a tedious manual step on these platforms, and is annoying to have to do by hand every time.

  17. Make it possible to randomize for fastest connection within custom parameters

For instance, I want it to pick the fastest server anywhere in the eastern time zone using stealth with p2p optimization and onion routing. And maybe allow a corresponding custom server list at the top of the ‘countries’ list, or similar.

  19. Allow User-Selectable Exit Nodes with Secure Core

When creating a VPN configuration file using Secure Core, I would like the option to choose a specific secondary (exit) location within the region I intend to use. Currently, all western U.S. Secure Core configurations default to Los Angeles, which limits flexibility.

Instead, I want the ability to select a specific state or city for the exit node, in addition to the Secure Core entry location. This would allow for more accurate geographic representation and better performance. Not all users are based in Los Angeles, and routing all traffic through that single location is both restrictive and inefficient.

    This limitation…
