1. Automatic login on the ProtonVPN Linux client

   Currently, the ProntonVPN Linux client requires manual login each time. This is really tedious, particularly if the password is very complex. It would be much better if it were possible to log in automatically. This, in particular, is a requirement for automatically starting the VPN client after each reboot.

   Enable Proton VPN to define VPN routes not only globally across Firefox—as currently supported—but also on a per-container basis, similar to Mozilla VPN’s behavior. This enhancement would significantly increase flexibility and privacy for containerized browsing workflows.

   Use Case Examples:
   - Personal Container: Connect through the user’s home country to access domestic services such as banking or local news.
   - Language Learning Container: Route traffic via a foreign country to immerse in content and media in the target language.
   - Work Container: Use a dedicated VPN route optimized for workplace access or remote server geolocation.
   - Research Container: Connect via specialized regions to bypass censorship or access region-specific data sources.

   Benefits:
   - Fine-grained privacy control tailored to each browsing activity.
   - Seamless multi-regional browsing within a single Firefox session.
   - More purposeful and contextual VPN usage, reducing the need for frequent manual switching.

   This feature would be especially relevant for the Zen browser, which is heavily based on Firefox and emphasizes the use of workspaces (containers). 4. Make Proton VPN with Google Play and F-Droid have different IDs

   Currently, after installing the F-Droid version, Google Play tries to download and install an update for Proton VPN every time it searches for and installs updates for user applications, and it fails. It would be better if Google Play did not see the application installed via F-Droid and did not waste traffic, battery life, and did not annoy the user with notifications that the update installation was unsuccessful, but will be repeated later.

5. Using Proton client as an endpoint or route through existing device with proton vpn with LAN availability.

   Please add a way to create make the device as an endpoint.
   Similar to NordVPN's meshnet.
   This would be especially helpful to use netflix so it shows up as in the same household.

6. Latency

   You mention gaming as a usecase but don't display latency for servers.
   I've used/am using Proton VPN but since I couldn't know latency without manually testing every server and then logging into the game , I had to get exitlag just for gaming. Please implement at latency information and if possible implement something similar to exitlag so I don't have to have multiple subscriptions.

7. Feature request – Smarter Wi-Fi-based auto-connect rules on iOS

   Hello Proton team,

   First of all, thank you for Proton VPN and the whole Proton ecosystem. I’m a paying user and I really appreciate your focus on privacy and on open, well-documented security.

   I’m writing to request a feature that I believe matches a very common and “natural” use case for VPNs on mobile phones, especially on iOS.

   Current situation

   On iOS, we can use auto-connect and some Shortcuts automations, but there is no simple way to express the following behaviour:

   Automatically connect Proton VPN on any Wi-Fi network, except for a few trusted ones (for example my home Wi-Fi).

   Automatically disconnect Proton VPN when the device is no longer connected to Wi-Fi (i.e. when switching to cellular data).

   With the current options, we can approximate this behaviour using iOS Shortcuts, location-based automations, and manual workarounds, but it is fragile, complex to set up, and far from user-friendly.

   Requested feature

   It would be extremely useful to have, directly inside the Proton VPN app (or account settings), something like:

   A list of “Trusted Wi-Fi networks” (by SSID), for which:

   Option: Never auto-connect VPN on these networks

   Option: Automatically disconnect VPN when connecting to these networks

   A global rule such as:

   “Auto-connect Proton VPN on any Wi-Fi network that is not in the Trusted list.”

   “When not connected to Wi-Fi (cellular only), automatically disconnect Proton VPN (optional toggle).”

   This would perfectly match a very common pattern on mobile:

   At home (trusted Wi-Fi) → no VPN needed.

   On any other Wi-Fi (work, café, hotel, public hotspot) → VPN should automatically protect the connection.

   On cellular data → user can choose whether the VPN should remain on, but many people would prefer to turn it off automatically to save battery and data.

   Why this matters

   This behaviour feels like a “default” expectation for many privacy-conscious users on smartphones. Right now, implementing it requires:

   A good understanding of iOS Shortcuts / automation;

   Several separate automations (per location, per network, etc.);

   And even then, it still doesn’t handle “Wi-Fi disconnect” events cleanly.

   If Proton VPN could offer this directly as a first-class feature (especially on iOS, where system-level triggers are limited), it would greatly simplify the life of many users and make Proton VPN feel even more “smart” and integrated in everyday usage.

   Thank you very much for considering this request, and for all the work you already do to offer privacy-respecting tools. If you need more details or real-world usage examples, I’d be glad to provide them.

8. per app network traffic view like in Windows Task Manager

   The Task Manager in Windows shows a live per app view of network data traffic. When using Proton VPN, all network activity is aggregated and listed as data traffic from Proton VPN.

   It would be nice if you could see the per app usage in the Proton VPN app.

   When the current download or upload traffic is uncommonly high, I would usually check which app is responsible, perhaps you might want to stop the process. Currently, you have to guess what causes the traffic.

10. Proton VPN Windows client prevents LAN access. Help!

    When the Proton VPN Windows client is connected to the VPN, I am unable to access other PCs on the LAN. If PVPN is disconnected, then the PCs are accessible. The setting in the client to allow LAN access is enabled. The PCs on the LAN all have static IP addresses, as do all the networking devices. So, how can LAN resources be made available when PVPN is connected?

11. Split tunneling - Exclude one specific URL only.

    Split tunneling - Exclude one specific URL only.
    On my local network, I have to use a browser to access the settings for my Ethernet box. I could exclude the browser. However, I would prefer to exclude only the Ethernet box URL and be protected for other URLs.
    Note: I haven't found a solution to this problem. My “Allow LAN connections” setting is enabled. It doesn't allow access to the Ethernet box, probably because of the browser session, I guess.

12. Microsoft Edge for Android Extension

    Microsoft Edge on Android now supports browser extensions, yet the number of available VPN extensions is extremely limited. At the moment, only a few providers such as AdGuard, Browsec, and NordVPN are present in the Edge Add-ons store.
    Although ProtonVPN already offers an Android application, it establishes a system-wide VPN connection. Many users would prefer a browser-only VPN option that routes traffic only from the browser without affecting the entire operating system. A ProtonVPN extension for Microsoft Edge on Android would address this need, offering a lightweight, flexible, and privacy-focused browsing solution while expanding ProtonVPN’s presence on mobile platforms.

13. Proton as an Internet Service Provider

    Obviously this is a pie-in-the-sky idea, but with all of the features provided by Proton, it seems that creating an ISP seems like a reasonable (if not far off) step. Of course access would vary by country as Proton would build ISP infrastructure, and I'm not sure if this has any particular benefits vs using a VPN, but just an idea.

16. Adult content filtering

    Adding adult content filtering option for NetShield feature would be most welcoming for families or people trying to be free of its negative effects for themselves.

    I have to use custom DNS option from outside of Proton VPN which can be risky for privacy concerns.

    Filtering out industry that too often is predatory, capitalizing on peoples loneliness or people in desperate situations is a net positive in my opinion for everybody involved.

17. Provide warnings for recent legislature changes in selected country

    Proton should provide a warning note against countries that have made recent legal changes that impact the internet. This could include things like the UK's Online Safety Act causing websites to behave differently or more serious legislation that allows the government to track or control internet access.

    The goal of this feature would be to warn Proton VPN users about impending or recently implemented law changes for their awareness and safety online.

18. Allow Kill Switch to block Internet when VPN failed to connect on startup.

    The kill switch allows you to connect to the internet if Proton VPN failed to connect (during start-up) or if you manually disconnected.

    It would be more secure if it only allowed connections through a VPN.

    I personally connected to multiple public hotspots without noticing that my VPN was actually off.
