This is what's missing for me to be able to switch from Google Docs

This!!! We need it! If Proton can do this, then so many people would make the switch in a heartbeat. For me, I only switched to Proton after I was no longer able to use the offline system on google since I first switched browsers (and offline editing only works in chrome).

I have been using Proton Docs as my new word processor until last month, when my internet went out and the files I worked on disappeared. I thought syncing them with my computer would prevent this (like on Google Docs), but because I had created them in Proton, they were some ".protondoc" file format - they didn't even save to my computer! I was honestly angry, because one of the things that pushed me to join Proton was Proton Drive functioning similarly to Google Docs - but I can't even save or edit the native files on my computer. Ridiculous.

Is it even possible? Maybe docs are stored in db instead of files?

I am on hotspot while riding Amtrak - editing transcripts, and the connection is maddening. I fully support the development of this feature.

I need to type documents for school so having the ability to type pdf docs without internet on a laptop would be great

Without this feature the proton drive is more or less useless. Further it should be possible to share file between my two pcs and not just with other users.
I am a proton unlimited user and I started using proton with the goal to replace other apps I am currently using. But of the 6 proton apps only vpn and pass are of value.

This is a deal breaker feature

I massively upvote this, coming from G Docs, being able to work offline was crucial, working on documents when traveling and not relying on connection, then syncing when connection is established again, please add this as soon as possible.

This is critical.
Currently, it seems that the document is not even saved locally, it is fully online.
Please, this function is so important.
