1. Improve context menu with Proton icons

   The right-click menu already exists. It has options for "Always keep on device" and "Free up space". Neither of these options make it clear they come from ProtonDrive. Add a small icon to the left of the option title as many other programs do so users can associate the action with the corresponding program.

2. Remove from download on ios Files app.

   Remove from download on iOS “Files app”. If I open a file in the app, the file is also downloaded locally to the device and I have no way to remove it from the downloads. With dropbox, even if I open the file (in app) it is not downloaded to the device. Only if I put save to device.

3. Copy document from website to proton drive directly.

   Instead of transferring from this computer ("uploading") to Proton Drive, how about transferring from another computer to Proton Drive?

   That is, allow providing a URL to a document so it can be transferred from some other computer to Proton Drive.

   I have a personal website and would like to transfer a copy of a couple files without "downloading" them first. Less transferring (less network traffic) that way. Ideally, the transfer request would not come from my computer, but instead from the Proton Drive server (or whatever other computer you all want to use that is in your control for security).

   Transferred only once seems more secure than transferred twice (once from website to computer, then from computer to Proton Drive). No need to rely on the computer (f.e. a public computer in a library) to be secure (f.e. not modifying downloaded files, not rerouting a downloaded file, etc.).

   And wouldn't the HTTPS request from the Proton Drive server help with securing the transfer directly to Proton Drive? Bypassing the public computer at the library would feel a little more secure, but maybe it isn't really? I don't know. Just an idea.

7. File Symbolic Linking

   One of my uses of ProtonDrive is to archive documents. For these, I wish to be able to archive them in multiple places; the same document has relevance to both the new house I purchased as well as to taxes. As such, i would like to have a link to the file appear in both of these places.
   Currently, to support this I must upload the file twice into the two locations, potentially requiring me to download the file prior to re-uploading it.

8. Option to choose the type of link to be created for sharing with others: Read only or edit access

   Although the option exist to create a sharing link but the link provides full fledged access, a user should be able to create a link which is still secured by password but is not giving edit access to the person holding the link and the password. The feature already exists in microsoft's "one drive".

10. Preview/watch videos from folder view

    From the folder view, video files like mp4 cannot be previewed and appear to need to be downloaded to watch. However, if you click on a photo to view it and then click the right/left arrows to traverse through files in the same folder, videos will load and be viewable. Please make the videos viewable when clicking directly in a folder.

11. Customize Folders to backup structure

    An option that doesn't really exists with the competitors, having the ability to choose a target folder for the backups with ProtonDrive.

    Right now, if I have a folder "Photos" and I would love to only backup a few folders in it (ex: 2020, 2021, etc.) I have to select those but they will appear on Proton as 2020, 2021. If we could specific the destination folder I could have a "Photos" folder to which I'd select to backup 2020, 2021 in.

    Current:
    2020 -> 2020
    2021 -> 2021

    Future:
    2020 -> Photos\2020
    2021 -> Photos\2021

    Giving more flexibility to ProtonDrive not only allows a complete and efficient sync but makes it a complete and convenient backup solution to handle the day-to-day and organize users' data recovery.

12. Upload from a hyperlink

    Ideally we would have remote upload but then I guess that's not possible due to E2EE. So, instead give a web UI feature, where instead of having to manually download and then upload, the Web UI itself downloads the file onto storage and encrypts and uploads it.

14. Allow the android client to access cameras connected via USB directly.

    Right now, if you want to back up photos from a camera to your ProtonDrive account via a tablet, the most straightforward way is to import the images to the tablet, and then open the ProtonDrive app and upload them. I propose skipping the middle step and simply upload them from the camera directly to ProtonDrive.

    1. If you have an inexpensive tablet, the number of photos to backup might easily exceed the space available on the tablet.
    2. Such backups might be crucial for photojournalists using professional cameras in ares where security forces sometime confiscate cameras. The alternative is hiding the sd card the images are on and hoping it is not discovered in a search.

15. Copy from device backup

    I have backup some devices with proto drive desktops app.

    But if i want to copy or move some file from m'y backup to m'y file in proto drive i need to reupload them.

    Maybe WE could have beter folder like or a Root folder, and subdirectory with my file and devices backup

17. Web PDF Viewer Improvements

    Here are possible improvements to the pdf viewer (web):
    - Remove encryption
    - Convert to PDF/A
    - Convert to Linearized PDF

    I think the first one is the most useful for people. And once this is implemented, the other two could be easy to implement (given the toolchain required for the the first one).

    Privacy and security are at the core of Proton's mission. Sharing folders through Proton Drive should be no different. A public URL for sharing stops short of privacy and security. A model that upholds privacy and security would be an invite model. Invite a specific person to the folder, if they do not have a Proton account, they can create one. They use this login to access files in the shared folder.

    A public URL has zero traceability to who is accessing the data. An invitation to a specific person would allow for traceability of the files in the folder being shared by the Proton Drive customer.

    An additional option to select members of an organization in a Business/Professional or Visionary Plan to share a Proton Drive folder with is also in alignment with specific people having access to specific things in the name of privacy and security.
