[WINDOWS] Option to customize the path of the folder to sync between computers
It would be cool if Proton Drive had an option to customize the path of the folder that you want to sync between computers (like Google Drive does).
Currently Proton Drive forces you to use a certain folder (Unit:\Your Proton Drive folder\My files), so it forces the user to alter their data structure.
Creating a junction point/symbolic link is not a valid solution since they have a number of inconveniences like not being able to do Explorer searches (junctions are not indexed) or not being able to access them via Quick Access (symbolic links act as shortcuts when pinned so…

All photos available offline
I want to use Proton Drive as a replacement for my phone gallery. Therefore, I want my photos to appear in the app instantly and not only after uploading. Also, I want all photos to be available offline, because I want to view photos without a network connection.

Photos: OCR/Text scanning and photo text search
In iCloud Photos, I find it very useful that in my massive photo library I can search for text appearing in my photos. This makes searching for old pictures of documents (like a business card from three years ago) very easy. Optical Character Recognition (OCR), from my understanding, is much less computationally intensive than image classification or facial recognition, so it would be easier to implement before those in Proton Drive to scan your library and easier to run via local models, and still add a lot in terms of search functionality.

Better UX for sharing link
I share files or folders with an expiration. It gives me better control, and I won't end up with dozens of shared folders without a clue about their purpose.
I would appreciate the following features:
- expiration date available in the first dialog form, I have to open another dialog now
- ability to preset default expiration date to a certain number of days from today (60 days fits me the best)4 votes -
Stack RAW and JPEG in Proton Photos
You can already sort your photos by RAW and that's a super helpful feature. But if you shoot simultaneously in RAW and JPEG or edit your RAWs into multiple JPEG files, they will appear as 2+ different files by default. What I'd like to see is RAW+JPEG Stacking, where JPEGs are are associated with RAW files as a thumbnail, so that we don't have these duplicates when we open Photos.
Alternatively — and simpler to implement short-term — a JPEG file type filter could be added to the top of the Photos tab and the requested functionality would be half-way…

Cloud-first Storage
I love Proton Drive's privacy-focused approach, but there's one feature I really miss: files on-demand (also known as "placeholder files" or "online-only files").
Right now, photos uploaded through the mobile app remain stored on my device, so they exist twice – locally and in the cloud. The whole point of cloud storage for me is to have my photos in the cloud instead of taking up space on my phone.Could you consider adding an on-demand mode, so uploaded photos don't have to stay on my device and fill up my storage?

can you enable individual folders for specific docs or sheets?
To make things organized I was wondering if you could allow folders to be made for google docs or sheets.
For example work folder can have 3 seperate folders: "side hustles", "ABC company(MAIN WORK)", and "Long-term business" and for e.g. ABC company folder could have multiple docs all in one place for easy and organization.
Same for study notes, college internship and every other use people would have.
Etc. Etc.

Local Files Sync via Proton Drive app
Currently, we're able to see our files through the Proton Drive app on our mobile phones. But I'd like to sync certain folders, like my project files with important docs, to my actual phone's storage so I can edit them with other apps.
For example, if I were to add my Obsidian Vault to Proton Drive, I want those files to get downloaded to my phone's storage as well. This way, I can edit my Obsidian Vault on the go, and sync any changes I make with Proton Drive. Google Drive doesn't have this feature, so I used another app…

Manual sync on Windows
It seems that Proton Drive only syncs documents when the last change value changes, not when the file actually changed, which creates a problem. Windows has this annoying quirk where, if the file size didn't change, it won't update the meta data for the time the document was last saved, so even if you saved 10 times in 10 minutes, if the changes you made summed up to the same file size, Explorer will continue to show the change time as being 10 minutes prior, and the updated file with not be automatically synced. save as conversions that do not need download
Proton docs can be downloaded in various formats. But you cannot save to the drive in those formats, you have to download and then upload, risking leaving the document on an insecure drive!
Add a "save as" feature which works like download, but saves to the drive.

Shortcut Items (symbolic link or hard link) for Proton Drive
I'm using Google Drive along with Proton Drive and find Proton Drive missing a feature that I think is useful.
Google Drive has a feature called 'Create shortcut', it seems creating a symbolic link (not hard link) to another location.
The problem is when organizing my data, sometimes I see that some items should be at different locations and they're the same things.

Adding Storage in increments
I am intrigued by the Proton Unlimited plan but am only allowed 500GB of storage. One Drive gives me 1TB with a subscription to Office 365, but allows for the option to purchase additional storage tiers ($9.99/1TB)
iCloud+ is even better with being able to purchase plans in 2TB increments for $9.99/mo and lac out to 12TB
For users of the Unlimited and higher plans, make it easier for users to get more storage in increments if needed.

High Importance: Sign Documents Feature Inside Drive and Shared Folders

Show current folder when moving files
When I select the title of my current document > move to folder, a popup showing my drive folder structure appears. I'd like to see the current file path on top of the list.
This is useful because I can't accidentally move to a wrong folder or fail to recognize that the file I'm working on is already in there.

Must-have features to stay competitive
I’ve been a long-time Google One user, not because I particularly love it, but because I’m forced to be. Every time I try to leave the Google ecosystem for new alternatives, I end up crawling back within an hour because there are just too many missing features.
I tried Proton Drive Premium, but unfortunately, it’s missing way too functionality and I’ve run into few issues, mostly with photo management.

Allow to import photos from a synced folder
The new landed import photos feature in Proton drive only allows importing photos that are not in a synced folder. This doesn't make sense, as photos are stored separately in Proton Drive. Therefore, not allowing the import of such folders makes it impossible to move photos from the Documents Drive folder to the photo section.

Please add a native Kanban board feature (Trello alternative)
Now that Proton Drive has Docs and Sheets, a native Kanban project board is the missing piece to our daily workflows. Millions of privacy conscious users are stuck using Trello, Notion, or Asana because we have no choice, but those platforms track everything we do.
Please give us a card based project tracker (Kanban board) directly in Proton Drive. Help the community finally break away from Atlassian and Google entirely so we can manage our actual daily tasks inside one secure awesome platform.

Add Japanese language support to the Windows desktop app
The Proton Drive web version supports Japanese, but the Windows desktop app (v3.0.1) has no language setting and stays in English. Unlike the web version, it can't be translated with a browser either.
As a paying subscriber, I'd love a Japanese option in the desktop app. With privacy awareness growing fast in Japan, proper Japanese support would help Proton reach more users here.2 votes
