FSP (File Storage Provider) support for iOS and iPadOS
There is support for FSP on macOS for Proton Drive, however it is missing for both iOS and iPadOS. The consequence is that I cannot add a Proton folder as location in for example iA Writer. The net effect is that any file stored on Proton Drive that I want to open, must be manually found through browsing from the root of my Proton Drive. With FSP support on iOS and iPadOS any folder should be available immediately in the interface.
The missing part in the implementation is full folder sharing support in said protocol.
It works flawlessly on macOS.…

Adding photos manually from an Android phone to Proton Photos
I later crop or delete photos on my phone, edit videos, but resynchronization does not work for changes to photos or videos, nor does synchronization for deletions, when I delete photos or videos in ProtonDrive, it is not deleted on my phone.

Hiding photo albums
Allow for photo albums to be hidden, sorted, and their contents also hidden. I've got a lot of work photos in my proton drive, but I don't care browsing past all of them when I'm looking for pictures of my actual life. If I could hide them in albums, but still on hand, that would be great.

File management paradigm change?
As a curious, sometimes geek with nerd outbursts, user exploring and using newest techologies since 40 years
I'd like ProtonDrive to consider:
- merging all types of documents (office, audio, video, etc) into a single environment (as opposed to the Documents/Photos distiction)
- allow the user to chose to expose these documents to the OS
- providing labels/tags/keywords management (add, remove, batch rename)
- integrate these labels/tags/keywords within the files metadata without changing their modification date (as opposed to libraries systems strongly linked to products and service providers)
- providing views management (add, remove, rename) based on the aforementioned labels/tags/keywords…7 votes -
One Way Sync For Proton Drive Computer Backup
One of the primary reasons people are gravitating to Proton is for redundancy. There should be a way to set “two way sync” or “one way sync” for files and folders. Some files we would just like access to, while knowing we will not accidently move or delete them. I know that the “Trash” holds them for 30 days, but sometimes “fatal” errors can occur where files are totally lost, or corrupted. Additionally, in this vein, a new subsection of PD that functions as a read only computer or folder “backup” could solve this entirely. In conclusion, it would be…

Proton Drive remote upload for files & upload of attached files from Proton Mail to Proton Drive
Currently files and folders can be uploaded into Proton Drive only from the device storage.
1. Could you please consider to add 'Remote Upload' into Proton Drive so files from URL could be uploaded directly from internet into Proton Drive.
2. Uploading files attached to emails from Proton Mail to the Proton Drive directly.
3. Possibility of extracting compressed files (zip, tar, 7z, etc.) directly inside Proton Drive environment.
4. Possibility of compressing files and folders into containers (zip, 7z, tar etc.) with password so files could be then attached from Proton Drive into Proton Mail emails as compressed attachments.6 votes -

Search by Album Name in Mobile App
It would be extremely helpful for users who have dozens—or even hundreds—of photo albums to be able to search by album name in the mobile app's 'Photos' section.

Shortcut Items (symbolic link or hard link) for Proton Drive
I'm using Google Drive along with Proton Drive and find Proton Drive missing a feature that I think is useful.
Google Drive has a feature called 'Create shortcut', it seems creating a symbolic link (not hard link) to another location.
The problem is when organizing my data, sometimes I see that some items should be at different locations and they're the same things.

Improve Downloading and uploading speed
i know that proton drive has robust security and i think that is why probably the download and uploading speed is very slow compared to other solutions like mega. Proton Drive would be top notch with a more robust server speed. i think that 50 MB/s would be very good starting point for example.

Proton Drive meets Git
HiDrive allows turning folders into Git repositories, which is very helpful. It would be great to see a similar feature in Proton Drive — the ability to initialise Git repositories inside folders, with basic access via HTTPS/SSH. This would make Proton Drive even more useful for developers and advanced users.

More storage capacity with Proton Unlimited
500GB storage capacity for Proton Unlimited is nowadays quite limited. Since Proton Duo offers 2TB storage, it would be reasonable for Proton Unlimited to have 1TB storage capacity.

Link sharing: Add "Request Access" Approval for Shared Links (Google Drive-style)
Please add a "Request Access / Manual Approval" option for shared links in Proton Drive.
How it should work:
When someone clicks a shared link, they cannot immediately access the file / folder.
Instead, they see a button like "Request Access."
The owner receives a notification and can approve or deny each request, tied to the requester's email address. Why this matters:
Prevents link leaks. Even if the URL is forwarded, only approved people get access.
Gives owners more granular control, without relying only on passwords or expiry dates.
Matches a feature users are already familiar with from Google Drive,…5 votes -
Add support for exFAT filesystem
Proton Drive appears to only support NTFS, APFS. Incredibly frustrating to learn that the drive I'd like to use for backups isn't compatible with the service I've paid for due to the filesystem not being supported; exFAT is a fairly common cross-platform filesystem for external drives and is super useful for those going between operating systems and devices.

Proton Docs Bulk Download
There needs to be an essential feature to bulk download Proton Docs into a readable file format of your choice. Allowing the downloader to choose a default file time (Adobe, Word, etc.). For purposes of downloading multiple files at once for ease and convenience. And for purposes of being able to do a convenience manual backup to a local hard drive.

Proton Docs: support for maths expressions
Proton Docs is already a great tool, and I think it would be nice to add maths formula and expressions with a LaTex, MathJax or any other syntax. So we should be able to create a math block with the UI as for a code block, or with the markdown syntax ($$).
Thanks for all your amazing work.
