2. Humble Suggestion to Enhance the User Experience of Local Processing Mode

   First and foremost, please allow us to express our deepest gratitude to the development team for the excellence already demonstrated in the design of Lumo. The integrated privacy features and the existing Local Mode are a testament to a remarkable commitment to user data protection.

   1. Current Context (Respectful Observation)
      We have observed that switching between Local Mode and Web Mode currently requires navigating through the privacy settings. We fully understand that this design responds to security requirements and clarity of intent, which we commend.

   2. Proposal for Contribution
      In a spirit of collaboration and service to users, we humbly suggest the integration of a dedicated switch for "Local Mode" directly on the main interface, coexisting with Web Mode.

   The goal is to make this feature as immediately visible and accessible as the "Incognito/Private" icon in modern web browsers. Rather than navigating through menus, the user should be able to activate or deactivate this secure mode in a single gesture from the main conversation screen.

   Suggested Technical Characteristics:

   Strategic Placement: A switch or icon located in the sidebar or header of the application, within immediate reach.
   Independent Page: Activating Local Mode would open an independent window or tab, creating a clear visual separation between the "Local" and "Web" environments. This isolation would reinforce the perception of confidentiality and prevent any confusion between the two modes.
   Immediate Visibility: A clear visual indicator (change in color or icon) instantly signaling the active mode (Local vs. Web).
   Ease of Use: Activation in a single click, without complex menu paths, facilitating a fluid transition according to immediate needs.
   Contextual Preference: An option to remember the last used mode or define a default mode based on the user's context.
   4. Potential Added Value
   Benefit Impact
   Fluidity Reduction of configuration time from several minutes to a few seconds
   Adoption Encouragement to use Local Mode more frequently due to ease of access
   Transparency Better visibility for the user regarding the active level of confidentiality
   Experience Alignment with modern application UX standards
   5. Security Considerations (Respect for Existing Principles)
   We are aware that any interface modification must preserve the underlying security:

   Switching must trigger an immediate purge of memory data from the previous mode.
   An explicit confirmation must be requested before any transition to Web Mode (to avoid involuntary errors).
   The history of mode changes can be logged locally for traceability, without storing conversation content.

   We fully recognize that the development team already has an established roadmap. This suggestion is formulated in a spirit of voluntary contribution, without presuming urgency or priority. 4. Voice typing in Ubuntu Linux and/or Firefox

   It would be great to have at least a web-based voice typing for Lumo on Firefox for those who, like me, are using Linux OS's. I'm on Ubuntu but am forced to another IA b/c of the lack of voice typing on LUMO. 😭

5. Add models for creative writing

   None of the models Lumo uses are very good at creative writing. Please add a model that can provide helpful writing critiques, ideas, etc., for creative uses such as storytelling, poetry, songwriting, and creative non-fiction.

6. Lumo animated stickers pack

   Hi,

   One of my favorite sticker pack for iMessage (available for other platforms too) is Milk & Mocha bears.
   Now Proton you have just a very cute cat and you did already put a lot of effort in the design and animation.
   I would gladly use Lumo stickers if you can deliver something as nice :-)
   It will also make a good advertising for the product itself: Lumo.

7. Catnip mode: an expert mode for advanced users (ie ‘go crazy’ basically)

   I know I’m missing other features and whatnot, but hopefully this idea is somewhat helpful.

   So…catnip mode. When toggled on (default off) in a new Developer Settings menu, this mode will unlock additional parameters:

   Catnip/developer setting panel:
   - Toggle proton system prompt instructions off (default on), allowing a custom instruction set (open weights by design have native guardrails as is, reduce overhead)
   - Ideally, the developer setting should allow us to see the system prompt that Proton uses (increase transparency)

   Lumo chat area:
   - Ability to explicitly select models
   - Brief description of model, recommended use when hovering over model selection
   - Ability to see open model weights (increase transparency)
   - Conversation/session context
   - Ability to see token use, limit/remaining tokens

   Model Panel:
   - Advanced parameters and profiles
   - Create up to 5 profiles per model
   - Personalization prompt
   - Temperature, P, K, penalties, A, etc.
   - Response format
   - Max output tokens

   API:
   - Add any of the above features that may not currently be available in the API being developed (most notably specific model selection and system prompt)
   - Current GitHub as of posting has model IDs: auto, lumo-fast, lumo-thinking

   The intent is to leave the current environment for general users, however, open it up to advanced users looking for serious use cases.

   I know I’m missing other features and whatnot, but hopefully this idea is somewhat helpful.

8. Customize Response

   I'd love to see a "Customize Response" button like duck.ai has. It basically lets you tweak the prompt without having to type out everything every time you start a new chat. The idea is sort of similar to https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/932842-lumo/suggestions/50343312-memory-or-knowledge-functionality-for-lumo, but not quite. I think this idea is a bit easier to implement.

10. Restrict set of characters in output code blocks to ASCII in Lumo

    Automatically restrict or give me a setting to restrict Lumo's set of characters in code blocks to the ASCII character set. In some of my ongoing conversations it has the habit of occasionally inserting:

    • ‑ (U+2011 NON-BREAKING-MINUS) instead of - (U+002D HYPHEN-MINUS)
    • … (U+2026 HORIZONTAL ELLIPSIS) instead of ... (3 separate U+002E FULL STOP characters)

    Allow users to create a countdown events for goals. For example, if you set a personal challenge for 40 days, you could see the number of days remaining etc.

15. Integrate Lumo into Git repositories

    I'd love to use Lumo with a Git repository. This would most likely imply a GitHub-like service that has Lumo integrated. But just understanding '.git/' - folders would do the trick just fine as well.

18. Android Intent Support or API for a Reading App Integration

    Dear Lumo Team,
    I'm the developer of @Voice Aloud Reader, a popular Android ebook/document reader app. I'm interested in integrating AI-powered book summarization features that respect user privacy - which makes Lumo an ideal solution.

    Current Approach & Results: I've tested Lumo with book chapters (up to 100KB text) by manually copying/pasting content. The summarization quality and literary analysis are excellent - exactly what my users need for "remind me what happened" scenarios when returning to books after breaks, having questions to answer, discuss the book etc., but copy/paste workflow is far from perfect.

    Feature Requests:
    1. Intent.ACTION_SEND Support: Allow my app to send prompts + text/files directly to Lumo via Android's share mechanism. Ideally support both EXTRA_TEXT to insert the prompt, and at the same intent – optional EXTRA_STREAM to attach a text file.
    2. Save Chat Intent: Optional ability to save completed chats to specified file paths (with user approval). If summarizing a book by chapters, this would serve to collect all the summaries in one file for future chats.
    3. Alternative: API for Developers: Consider offering an API for app developers to integrate Lumo capabilities
    o Ideally allow also user-controlled API keys (users create their own keys under their Lumo accounts/subscriptions for maximum privacy control) to avoid hassles with handling paid subscriptions in the app.

    Benefits to Proton:
    • Increased Lumo app adoption among my user base (currently about 500,000 active users per month), particularly if the intent mechanism works well – with API approach users would not necessarily install Lumo app and buy their own subscription plans.
    • Showcases Lumo's privacy-first approach in a practical use case
    • Demonstrates superior alternative to privacy-compromising AI services

    Privacy Alignment: This integration would help users analyze their legitimately-owned ebooks while maintaining the privacy guarantees that make Lumo unique.
    Would you consider implementing these features? I'm happy to provide technical details or discuss further.
