I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I like to keep my number of subscriptions minimal. It's just healthy. Basically. I would pay a good amount to get a lifetime subscription on plus / pro. Thoughts?
i too would like some sort of Retail/Lifetime Plan. i really don't like Subscriptions, they're a slippery slope to having a Charge bounce and be fined for it.
what i'm thinking is:
5-6GB Storage space total
2 E-Mail Addresses
E-Mail Client support
2 Calendars, 1 Calendar from Friends/Orgs
share Calendar via Link
for like say, $50?
i'm trying to be fair to everyone with this - a high enough / inefficient enough charge to make the Subscriptions a much better choice generally and to keep the cost of the Transaction minimal, but still offering the permanent upgrade for those that would like to support with increased limits.
this would make it easier for Proton to be a Service that one can rely on using into the future. without some sort of affordable Retail/Lifetime Plan option, those that are wary towards Subscriptions are left without any purchasing option.
This doesn't make sense. It's like a company offering to pay you ten years' wages right now if you agree to work for free for the rest of your life. Proton has to continue to pay its bills indefinitely.
I totally agree! I love Proton products, especially since their graphic redesign! All that's missing for me to finally abandon Google products is an offer consistent with the online storage market (100GB minimum), as well as a lifetime plan like Pcloud or IceDrive do.
Come on Proton, one more effort to become the reference of online services in Europe!
no thank you commented
It would be convenient if Proton Drive had a one-time only, lifetime subscription plan; like pCloud and IceDrive do. Not even Sync.com has that option.
This will never happen and is a false hope, protonVPN and the other services they build are quality products that require a steady stream of income to produce and maintain, lifetime plans are a hoax at best, most company's that offer these services wont last very long, or change company names regularly as they don't profit from the lifetime 'deal'. They rely on over-selling & over-hyping there product, providing people a false hope of a 'lifetime' product that usually has a very short life span, or is just generally a terrible product which is garbage in comparison to paid services.
That doesn't make any sense because they will stop making money if they make a lifetime plan, and you know it. The only reason why you want to buy the lifetime plan is because you are too broke to buy it every years
Please have a lifetime plan for VPN.

Protonmail should add a new type of paid plan that might be interesting for those clients that don't want to subscribe for a monthly/annually/2-year plan. There might be those that want a Lifelong / Perpetual one time payment subscription plan. So Protonmail might set the price (e.g. 120 months paid once) and users would be able to buy their perpetual account.
P.S. Protonmail might (at least) offer that plan option once a year as a BLACK FRIDAY promo too!
It would be amazing to be able to have lifetime options for ProtonDrive. For example, pCloud has 2TB for lifetime.
Yes please! pCloud offers a lifetime plan.
Allow users to buy Lifetime Accounts offering certain packages, 10T, 15T, 20T, 30T etc.
I agree you need a way for people to pay for resources, but I know that the storage medium for emails is paid for once - the cost of this service monthly is far more than the cost of the hardware to run it.. This is where I will tell you you will make more sales from a one-off cost for life, and that means life for the computer, where upgrades are implicit to be charged for by either new computers being purchased of increasing size for new customers, taking advantage of technological improvement, or my repairs or upgrades to the existing computers.
for 900€, i buy a lifetime service !
Services which offer lifetime accounts are scams. You can’t offer a lifetime subscription while at the same time make money without selling user information.
Proton SHOULD NOT implement lifetime offers into their subscription plan page.
So far I like protonmail. But I won't sign up for a subscription. I would appreciate a lifetime membership for a fee.
I think it would be interesting to have the opportunity to opt for a single payment for a life plan as they propose for example with pcloud
Price is too low commented
There are expenses and salaries that have to be paid every single month to keep the service running so I doubt that they'd be able to stay in business at those prices. If they implemented a lifetime sub, it would have to be a LOT more expensive in order to be economically feasible.
Hmm, I am on waitinglist and waiting...
I still like to change from free account to Life Time Account.
How can i speed up this.
Waiting for possible to pay.
250 € for Lifetime pro will be great.
