1. Easy application update (in Linux)

   I use a script to update Proton Pass. I would like to do the same with other products. I need the equivalent of this file https://proton.me/download/PassDesktop/linux/x64/version.json for other products.

   Does it exist? Where are they for the other products? (don't you love bash scripts?) I just realized I retrieve the version file more than once. I will fix that if you answer my question.

2. Add End-to-End Encrypted Family Location Tracking (Secure "Life360" Alternative)

   As a privacy-focused user, I currently have no safe way to track my family's location. Existing apps like Life360, Google Maps, or Apple Find My store location history on their servers, meaning the provider can see exactly where my family goes, when, and for how long. This creates a massive privacy risk and contradicts the "privacy by default" philosophy I trust Proton for.

   The Solution: Please introduce a Family Location Tracking feature within the Proton ecosystem (integrated into Proton Pass, Drive, or as a standalone module in Lumo) that offers:

   True End-to-End Encryption (E2EE): Location data is encrypted on the device. Only family members with keys can decrypt it. Proton servers should never see raw location data.
   Real-Time Updates & History: A secure map view showing live locations and travel history, accessible only to authorized family members.
   Geofencing Alerts: Secure notifications when family members arrive at or leave specific zones (e.g., school, home).
   Cross-Platform: Works seamlessly on iOS, Android, and Web.
   Why This is Critical: There is a huge demand for a "Life360 killer" that respects privacy. Families are currently forced to choose between safety and surveillance. A Proton solution would be the gold standard, likely driving significant upgrades to Lumo Plus or Visionary plans.

   Impact: This would complete the Proton ecosystem, protecting not just our digital data, but our physical safety and movement privacy.

3. Feature Suggestion: Automated Personal Data Removal

   I greatly value Proton’s commitment to protecting user privacy through your suite of encrypted services. However, I see an opportunity to enhance the user experience and strengthen Proton’s value proposition even further.

   Currently, users who want to remove their personal information from the internet must manually contact data brokers, websites, and search engines ... a time-consuming and ongoing task. I suggest Proton develop a Personal Information Removal System that would:

   1. Scan and Identify: Automatically detect where a user’s personal data is publicly available or held by data brokers.
   2. Automate Removal Requests: Send verified opt-outs or deletion requests on behalf of users.
   3. Monitor Continuously: Notify users if data reappears and manage ongoing suppression.
   4. Integrate with Proton Services: Seamlessly complement existing Proton tools like VPN, Mail, and Drive.

   This feature would transform Proton from a data protector into an active defender of online identity, giving users a complete privacy solution while differentiating Proton from competitors. It would also increase trust, user engagement, and potential premium subscriptions.

5. Notification when a photo is shared

   I’m using Proton Drive to share photos with my family. It would be great if my family would get a notification when I add something to an album. Now they have to check or I need to tell them. Either a push notification in the app or an e-mail would be very helpful.

   Proton Meet - HD Video, High Resolution (Original Sound) Stereo Audio, plus pin speaker option

   Please make Proton meet available with the option for HD video (which can also be recorded in HD), and high resolution audio, for sharing music in stereo

   Also the ability to pin a speaker so the recording shows only that speaker

   Essentially, the ability to share and record meetings with good quality video and audio (like with Zoom, which I'd love to stop using, if there is an alternative with these features)

   Adding headers, footers, and (editable) pagination would be appreciated by those who edit course materials, along with more font options, even if they have to be uploaded to your platforms.

   And if this type of feature is complicated to implement online due to hosting providers, why not also create a Proton Docs desktop app?

9. Feature Request: Native in-browser archive (ZIP) extraction and preview

   Hi Proton Team,

   I am writing to request a feature for Proton Drive web: native support for opening and extracting ZIP archives directly in the proton cloud.

   When uploading thousands of small files (1 MB to 2 MB) over a 100 Mbps Ethernet connection, upload speeds drop significantly due to per-file transfer overhead. In contrast, uploading a single large archive fully utilizes the available 100 mbps bandwidth. Zipping files before uploading is the most efficient way to transfer large batch directories.

   On my own research: this happens because Proton Drive applies end-to-end encryption, every file and folder is encrypted individually before it's uploaded. As a result, syncing a large number of small files takes significantly longer than syncing a single large file of the same total size (like a zip archive), which is encrypted once and therefore transferred more quickly. I do not how accurate my research is though...

   However, because Proton Drive web cannot open or extract archives, these files become inaccessible unless they are downloaded back to a local machine. Can a zip file extraction feature be added to Proton Drive? So that I could upload the zipped/archived file directly in one single operation, which would significantly increase upload speed, and then extract the same uploaded file directly in the cloud.

   I do not have a background in app development or server-side engineering, so I am unsure of the technical feasibility of my request. I will leave those details to your team to evaluate. If feasible, adding native archive viewing or extraction in the web app would solve the batch upload performance bottleneck while keeping files accessible in the cloud.

10. Ability to share files/folders with non-proton users by sharing a link and password instead of having to create an account

    Absolutely need the ability to share a link to a file or folder on Proton Drive with a non-proton user without them having to create an account at all, e.g. proton user could simply share a password with the recipient and they could then access the file or folder via a link with that password.

    The fact recipients have to create an account makes them opt out and request the use of unsecured channels for file sharing. This is NOT the way. Please add this ability to remove this important element of friction that’s preventing users from using proton services with non-users who aren’t ready yet to move away from less secure services.     I like the Proton Drive, but a Proton pen drive for offline file storage would be interesting; I just don't know if I'd have access to buying one in my country.

13. Edit as new message

    I miss the function which I know from and use a lot in Thunderbird: Edit as new nessage.

    With this function I can take a message I sent previously and just update the recipient or parts of the context and don't have to copy and paste. I find this very useful.

14. Black is the new purple - Let's make an OLED/AMOLED/ultra dark/black global theme for Proton apps and widgets

    I would love to see Proton develop a #000000 (100% black) theme, alongside the current options, that can be applied to all widgets and apps. It is a well-known fact that true black menus consume less battery and are easier on the eyes. However, for those of us who primarily prefer dark mode for the aesthetic, I would love to see an option to go all the way and make the entire Proton experience pitch black. It’s worth noting that there are already browser extensions available that provide a true black experience on web, so this request is primarily aimed at the iOS and Android apps.

15. Add a Unified Security Center for All Proton Services

    It would be great to have a single Security Center where users can monitor all Proton services from one place. The dashboard could display login activity, connected devices, recovery options, security alerts, and personalized recommendations across Mail, Drive, Pass, VPN, and other Proton products.

    Having everything organized in one location would make account management simpler and help users react more quickly to any unusual activity. Users looking for information about secure streaming services can also visit https://atlasprofficiel.com/ for additional resources.

16. Secure Contact Sync for Native Calls & SMS (Android & iOS)

    I encounter a major limitation in the daily use of my Proton contacts on mobile (Android and iOS): the inability to use these contacts for making phone calls or sending SMS via my phone's native applications without manually exporting them.

    Currently, to call a contact, I must:

    Open the Proton Mail app.
    Navigate to the Contacts menu.
    Select the contact and initiate the call from the Proton interface.
    

    This process is cumbersome and not ergonomic compared to using the native address book.

    My suggestion: I would very much like to see implemented a solution enabling transparent and secure synchronization of Proton contacts to the phone's system address book, while preserving encryption.

    Several technical approaches could be considered:

    Dedicated "Proton Dialer/Messenger" app: A lightweight application that integrates with Android/iOS app selectors (intents) to handle calls and SMS using local decryption keys, without exposing raw data to the system.
    Official CardDAV support: Enable secure CardDAV synchronization (similar to what some private providers do) where the Proton app acts as a secure bridge to inject decrypted contacts only at the moment of use into the system address book, without persistent unencrypted storage.
    Advanced Widgets or Shortcuts: Intermediate solutions allowing quick access to contacts for calls/SMS without navigating deep into the Mail app menu.
    

    Why this is important: Without this feature, many users are forced to export their contacts (as .VCF) to Google Contacts or iCloud for convenience, which completely contradicts Proton's privacy promise by exposing this data to big tech companies.

    Enabling calls and SMS directly from Proton contacts, without compromising security, would be a decisive argument to convince thousands of users to migrate permanently to your ecosystem.

17. shared workspace

    Shared workspaces would be nice because we have a drive and we're meeting soon. You can share files and chat with each other in a space where you can share files and chat with each other, like Teams/Sharepoint. We already have a drive, and we get meet soon. I think this will make it complete.

18. Lumo should keep working on response even if I leave the app.

    If I submit a prompt to Lumo and my phone goes to sleep waiting for the prompt to finish or if I tab out for a few minutes and come back, the finished response should be waiting for me when I return.

    The new feature to connect Gmail accounts is fantastic! Are there any plans to integrate iCloud (apple email) in the same way? Would be awesome to be able to integrate Google and Apple accounts directly in Protonmail.

    I’ve seen multiple other users suggest this, but I would like to make a request. If this is done, I’d like for it to have features that would make it a viable alternative to discord. The community I am in that suggested this company to me is becoming wary of continuing to use discord, and we may start looking for an alternative shortly.
