Official F-droid Repository
Hello,
It would be nice to have an official F-droid repo for all protonapps.
This way all apps would easily stay up-to-date without using the google playstore (or the aurore store)
Thanx for considering!

It would be so great with GrapheneOS!

Tutanota added its app to F-Droid a few months ago, which has unfortunately given Tutanota an advantage over ProtonMail amongst my anti Google friends.

Yes. Please.

F-droid has some security issues (see discussions around the Signal project), though I think maybe it is not that bad.
In the meantime, even though it is not 100% satisfactory, you can always use the Aurora app as a non-google proxy to the play store -

I think that would be an important step to live up to the principles of ProtonMail. I will not use it when I have to dwonload it from the googleplay Store. But it would also be enough to download the APK directly from ProtonMail.

Yes! Let's go with f-droid. Need to remove reliance on g00gle.

The ability to download ProtonMail and ProtonVPN independently of Google Play was a key factor in my decision to sign up with this service in 2017. This was made possible through the Crashlytics Beta program, but that ceased in Feb 2018.
Since then, we've been forced to use Google Play and I feel rather duped because it was a key factor in deciding to sign up with this service in the first place.

Hi. Could'nt you make the ProtonMail application availeble for us, who would prefer not to use Googles services?
Now I would need to use Google play to download the app, could it be done from somewhere else, like from F-Droid?
Thank you. -

I use replicant operating system and not android, for evident ethical and security reasons.
I don't want to use google play, because I'm against google and don't trust them.It will be very nice to put protonmail app in f-droid repository!

Yes this is super important, and could be very quick and easy to do.
I must agree with anonymous. Its really tough to trust Google. So many web servers depend on Google to stop bots accessing there websites, but Google's not-a-robot checker, discriminates against Tor browser users. I wonder how many people know that their website is unavailable to Tor users.

Very good suggestion. I would prefer download apk directly from Proton, as any outside website (especially of course G..gl.), tracls downloads and devices.
Thanks for great work! -

Even though APKs can be found in the wild, it would be nice to get it from a centralized and trusted source like F-Droid. Makes upgrading easier too...

Could you make the Proton Mail Android app available on F-Droid, Amazon or Aptoide stores? This way we wouldn't need to rely on Google's Playstore to download the app.

Bad idea due to security considerations (signing feautres etc.)

Since I completely distrust ANYthing google, I support the idea that the phone app versions should be available directly from protonmail.
