2. Proton Fotos

   Ich würde es sehr begrüssen, wenn es ein eigenes Programm nur für Fotos geben würde. Ich finde das „Fotos“ auf Proton Drive ist wirklich unnützbar. Es gibt nicht einmal eine Vorschau der Bilder. Wie soll man da noch seine Fotos finden? Zudem finde ich es schlecht, dass Proton Drive keine RAW-Bilder u.Ä. öffnen kann. Das dürfte bei „Proton Fotos“ nicht der Fall sein. Zur Zeit habe ich meine Bilder auf Apple Fotos. Dort ist es sehr praktisch, finde ich. Mit den Alben, dass man einfach Bildinformationen einsehen und die Bilder mit Schlagwörter und co. beschriften kann und dass man in der App die Bilder einfach bearbeiten kann. Aber ich mache mir Gedanken über die Privatsphäre von Apple. Ich habe nicht ganz erfreuliche Nachrichten gelesen. Bei Proton habe ich das Vertrauen. Wenn ihr ein „Proton Fotos App“ erstellt, würde ich viel von Apple Fotos „abschauen“. Zudem würdet ihr mit folgenden Features noch Pluspunkte bei Fotoliebhabern bei denen die Privatsphäre nicht egal ist: Bei den Fotos bearbeiten sollte man auf einen Klick die Metadaten entfernen können und die Bilder benutzerdefiniert komprimieren können. Für solche Funktionen habe ich noch kein Programm. Ich werde für meine Fotos bald eine andere Lösung für meine Fotos suchen. Ich hoffe ich kann bald mich freuen, dass ich meine Fotos endlich Sorgenlos aufbewahren kann. Auf einer Cloud, die Datenschutzsicher ist.

3. I'm using a tracking protection app on my mobile. This one finds some tracking from Adobe in the protonmail app everyday.

4. I am unable to access your Help center Form to report a hacking issue. The form disappears right after it appears.

   I actually need Help Center assistance with a hacking issue, but each time I access your Help Center form it immediately disappears. Also, when I phoned your Geneva phone number. the woman I spoke with only speaks French and could not locate someone who speaks English. 8. Fix Proton VPN!

   Proton VPN has consistently been down on my phone, my friends phone, my family's phone. Because Proton doesn't have a forum (that I'm aware of), I'm posting this here. I've emailed Proton and they do nothing. They Just send me troubleshooting tips. I can't connect to the VPN, if I log out I can't log back in, and I honestly can't use this VPN anymore if this is how it is. Dear Proton. Stop making AI chatbots (which no one asked for, by the way) and IMPROVE what you already have! Thank you! If anyone else is experiencing this, I hope you will vote that Proton should improve the VPN

9. Proposal to build supporting infrastructure and unions for citizen involvement in privacy and security related politics

   I believe that we need more knowledge and information on how to effectively fight against anti-privacy and security regulation as citizens. EDRi does a good job, but their reach seems limited. As Proton is build on the concept of protecting individual rights to privacy and security, and as recent and current regulation-reforms are actively are undermining these pillars of the Proton platform, which of course are also pillars of a healthy democratic society, I believe that all this is a core fight for Proton and its users.

   I whish for better information on how individual actions can more effectively influence the democratic machinery. A lot of people are only involved in democratic process when it is time to vote. I have slowly learned that we have much more individual power than that.

   I believe that we need better educational tools to help people realize how this kind of individual democratic power actually works, and how to use it. We also need better tools to assist in coordinating our energy for the most important fights. Actually, a platform like this one, where users can choose a topic and submit proposals for what would be important, and then vote on the most important submissions, would be great.
   The impact of this effort could then be amplified by combing it with collaborative and community inclusive projects, moderated and lead by experts in the field, to gather information, and create more easily consumed knowledge with regards to these most influential proposals, informing on what a proposal with regards to background, stakeholders, impact on society on on different levels, while focusing on democratic health and individual rights. The idea of having readily available and easily consumable high quality materials available for the mechanics behind the process of decitionmaking feels like a high value proposal to me. Especially if it is based on open-information and open moderation with an open review kind of approach, where individual review or ratings are made by researchers and other equally competent people.

   Making a EU wide union with EDRi and others, who has the same agenda, would be great.

   My proposal is basically to support or create a better infrastructure for community involvement in politics, mixed with a community driven but expert moderated platform for education and for aggregating the best value per effort strategies for action.

   I would start on the topic of privacy and security as is relevant for Proton platform with acute attempts in EU to undermine the platforms foundation, which would have consequences for its global userbase.

   The big example right now, is the EU proposal ”retention of data by service providers for criminal proceedings”, for which, I believe, the deadline is on the 12th of September 2025.

    I selected the Brave Web browser option to use Proton Mail as my default mailto: URI email client.

    However, when I select email address links like '<a href="mailto:distro@distrowatch.com">e-mail us</a>' on https://distrowatch.com/dwres.php?resource=submit , then Brave fails to launch the Proton Mail website.

    Something is broken with how Proton Mail registers itself with Chromium browsers.

    Don’t ask potential candidates for your job postings to “Connect on LinkedIn”. LinkedIn is not trustworthy. It is the equivalent of Facebook for job hunters with candidate information shared widely. It is a known trove of information used for social engineering. Thank you.

In both contexts, there are more critical features missing in Proton's offerings than the introduction of an entirely new operating system. Our objective shouldn't be to reinvent the wheel. However, most individuals, despite having the necessary skills, lack the time to manage:

    Their own mail server (e.g., Roundcube);
    A combined contact, cloud drive, and co-editing platform (such as NextCloud);
    An e-meeting platform (like Jitsi);
    A personal password manager (KeePass);
    A private messaging protocol (Matrix).
    

    Users like us prefer to focus our energies on our areas of expertise without compromising privacy.

    Proton is the company closest to realizing this vision, yet there remains a significant gap. This proximity is not necessarily due to being the best in its field (which might be the case, but that is not my primary concern) but because the team has earned our trust.

    I am generally reluctant to write or request features, as there are professionals employed by our contributions who are tasked with exactly this. Moreover, as this forum indicates, customers often do not precisely know what they need.

    From my dual perspective as a family man and a business owner, I have recently transitioned our company's suite from Google to NextCloud, while managing family email and calendars with Proton. However, these systems do not integrate seamlessly. I would prefer to consolidate everything under Proton, but this is currently infeasible due to the absence of:

    Integrated meeting and calendar solutions (akin to Jitsi and NextCloud Calendar);
    Contact backup capabilities;
    Co-editing features (attempts to collaborate on files saved in Proton Drive via LibreOffice have proven challenging).
    

    These are my primary requirements.

    Given that my company fully embraces and supports Open Source software, I would also appreciate greater attention to Linux distributions.

    I recognize that Linux holds a minimal market share and do not expect Proton's developers to focus exclusively on porting applications to Debian, Android, or HarmonyNext (the latter of which my company is keenly exploring).

    In conclusion, I encourage the Proton Team to continue their excellent work. There is always room for improvement, as is the case with any endeavor.
