1. Future set to send email?

   Hi there, is there a feature which allows email to be sent in the near future, should an accidental event happen that leads to death to email owner?

   Say if you have not login for 1 year, the email will be sent to whom they wish to receive it.

   Much like in TV series Mr Robot (How i found out about protonmail)

4. Focus on privacy: A secure Proton Messenger app

   It would be amazing to have a fully end-to-end encrypted messaging app within the Proton ecosystem (like Signal but integrated with Proton accounts). This would complete the ecosystem for users who care about ultimate privacy.

7. Encrypted Backup of all Proton data (like Standard Notes Backup)

   An option to create an encrypted Backup of all Proton Account data (probably most important are Mail, Pass, Drive and Wallet) which can be downloaded as a File and be decrypted locally with an open-source (FLOSS) software Proton provides and the Proton Account Password (resp. the Decryption Password if two-password-mode is active).

   This feature should work exactly the same way as the backup option of Standard Notes does (https://standardnotes.com/help/14/how-do-i-create-and-import-backups-of-my-standard-notes-data):

   • Basicly give the user the data the way you (Proton) see it (fully encrypted with the, to you unknown, Account password)
   • Make it possible for the user to decrypt the data of ones Proton Account even if Proton goes out of business or the access to all Proton infrastructure is not possible at the moment
   • Enable the provision of the encrypted tarball (or file in other format) via E-Mail (as it is encrypted)

   The way Standard Notes does it is very very nice (using the existing Account password for decryption and enabling the user to run the decryption tool locally) and also very privacy-preserving and secure (no re-encryption of the data for the backup alone, provide the user with the data in the exact same form the provider has it).

   As there is no separate encryption for the Backup itself but just the export of the already encrypted data this can be used for the user to store multiple copies of his Proton data locally, in the cloud etc. and still having one password he needs to remember (of course if he ever changes his Proton Account password it is his responsibility to delete all "old" backup files as they are encrypted using his old Proton Password.

    I use email aliases extensively via SimpleLogin. If I send a Proton Meet invitation, however, it includes my real Proton Mail address. It should be possible to alias this, including setting a default alias

    Proton's suite of privacy-first services — Mail, Drive, Calendar, VPN, Pass, and Docs — is fragmented across separate apps with no unified programmatic interface. This makes it nearly impossible to automate workflows, build developer tooling, or integrate Proton services into AI agent pipelines.
    The ask is simple: a single, composable command-line interface — proton — that covers all Proton services under one roof.
    Why this matters
    Power users want to script their workflows. Developers want to build on top of Proton without reverse-engineering private APIs. AI agents need a stable, structured interface to interact with services on a user's behalf. Right now, none of that is possible in any official, supported way.
    A unified CLI would change that. Imagine: an AI agent that drafts and sends a Proton Mail message, saves an attachment to Proton Drive, and creates a calendar event — all in a single composable pipeline, fully under the user's control.
    Prior art
    Google has done exactly this with the Google Workspace CLI. It's a strong reference point for structure, subcommand design, and machine-readable output (--json, --quiet flags, exit codes).

12. Offline editing support for Proton Docs files on Proton Drive apps.

    In 2024, a suggestion for introducing offline editing support for documents in general on Proton Drive was published (see https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/932839-proton-drive/suggestions/48610982-offline-editing-support-for-documents-in-proton-dr).

    I think this suggestion, while somewhat different, is now ever more critical with the introduction of Proton Docs in late 2025.

    Please do, however, indicate whether this suggestion is best merged with the specified previous suggestion.

14. Proton Notes as a Complete Document and Knowledge System

    I would like Proton to develop a fully integrated, privacy-first note and document system within the Proton ecosystem that can serve as a true Evernote alternative.

    The key goal would be combining encrypted notes with embedded, searchable PDFs (including OCR) and structured folder organization in one unified system.

    There is currently no European solution offering this level of integration, security, and document workflow in a single platform.

    In a market with consolidated competitors such as Obsidian, Anytype, AFFiNE, among others, it is essential that Standard Notes offers real-time collaboration features, in addition to the other editing functions of its competitors.

    The dated interface is also a problem. When you look at the UI/UX of competitors, you can see how Standard Notes needs a design makeover to modernize it and get it out of that dated software look.

17. Professional/Academic-level Writing Support in Proton Docs

    I am working hard to de-Google, de-Meta, de-Amazon, and de-Microsoft my life. I would love to switch my word processing needs entirely over to Proton Docs, but I need to write at a high academic level, including things like postdoc applications, journal articles, and books, and the support for that just isn't there, especially in things like footnotes and references/bibliographies. I know there are a lot of free alternatives to MS Word out there, like Google Docs, but I want to know for a fact that my writing won't be scraped for AI training.

    Making Proton's apps available on the app stores that Linux users use will make it easier and safer for users to find and download Proton apps and eliminate the risk of visiting sketchy websites to download the official Proton apps.
