    I believe that silent payments enable Proton wallet's "Contacts" and "send to email" features to interoperable with other wallet as well as FOSS-supportive.

    Specifically, silent payments:

    - Enable users to create contacts for non-Proton counterparties
    - Reduce payment steps without address reuse
    - Minimise address verification during send flow
    - Support FOSS open standard & encourage adoption
