I didn't know until now that documents can't be edited off-line. I often work in areas where the Internet is inaccessible or too slow to do anything meaningful. Ability to work off line is critical.

I agree that viewing photos on Proton Drive is a nightmare that needs improving, but a file is a file; I see no need to make separate storage apps for different kinds of files.
Apart from anything else,Proton already has far too many half developed apps. Like thousands of others have commented, I wish they'd just finish the apps they've started, not add new ones.

I am astonished at how long it takes to load a picture in Proton Drive, in comparison to the platforms. When you want to show somebody something on your phone, nobody's willing to wait 30 seconds per image - and that's that's on a 99mbps wifi. I recently tried it in a part of the world where 6-7mbps is considered 'fast' and we had to give up.

This would be great as long as it's on device only.

I like that Proton Drive is backup, not bi-directional sync. The fact that this is NOT included in Proton Drive is one of the (admittedly few) things I like about it, so if ever implemented, I hope Proton will please make it an optional feature per folder, rather than an all/nothing option applied to all photos.
Use case: I want to get all photos off Apple iCloud* because I value my privacy - hence moving to Proton - so I'm hoping the current non-sync workflow will enable me to delete from phone, then sort / delete them on Proton Drive before moving to local storage and/or ingesting into an image editing app. Bi-directional syncing (like iCloud) prevents this, because once it's deleted on the phone, it's also deleted from the cloud storage.
* Judging by the number of privacy violation fines imposed on Apple by governments worldwide during 2022-2025, Apple is no longer the paragon of privacy it claims to be. It was also forced to betray user security by the removal of encryption in the UK, and if it can happen there, it could happen anywhere.

I can't believe this isn't possible. i'd consider it a basic requirement of any photo storage app.

Having signed up for paid Proton suite, I'm hugely disappointed to discover I'm still stuck with the same limited selection of colours in calendar; I was under the impression this limitation was only applied to free accounts.
Not just 'more' colours – please include a proper colour wheel, like any other app, so users can define the colours that work for them.
Colour coding of calendars is essential to usability. It's also the only way I can manage the transition from Apple calendar to Proton; I currently have numerous calendars and have integrated a colour coding system throughout my calendars, task lists, emails, folders and document management. There is no way I'll change 15 years of colour coding because Proton doesn't include basic functionality such as colour wheel.
The absence of this feature makes the calendar unusable for me in practical terms.

The more I read the suggestions here, the more I despair at having signed up for a paid subscription.
I have 44k photos I want to get off iCloud, sorting, delete and download. Click > scroll > shift is not a viable way to select tens of thousands of files.
