undisclosed recipients
When sending an email to multiple recipients who are all on bcc, instead of them receiving it with 'undisclosed recipients' in their 'to' field, just put their email address in the 'to' field.
They should get the email as if it weren't bcc and I can't think of a reason why it shouldn't be done like this.
You can make it an option in settings if you like.
It may be that this is a 'standard' that all email systems do, i.e. put in undisclosed recipients for bcc addresses but protonmail does this also for protonmail email addresses that are bcc'ed.
I'd rather recipients not be aware that I am sending this to multiple users that I don't want them to be aware of.When sending an email to multiple recipients who are all on bcc, instead of them receiving it with 'undisclosed recipients' in their 'to' field, just put their email address in the 'to' field.

Alter or disable orignial email address
I no longer use my original email address due to 99.9% of it being spam. I would like the option of disabling or changing that original address to eliminate my need to empty the spam folder continually (I'm OCD).

Display SPF, DKIM and DMARC check results in email details
When viewing the original email, Gmail tells you whether the checks passed, for example:
SPF: PASS
DKIM: PASS
DMARC: PASS
I use the most expensive Proton subscription and still don’t have this feature. It will be very helpful to see these checks in the details of the letter. Thanks for considering this idea.32 votes -
View multiple email tabs in desktop app
In the OSX email app, I would love to have multiple tabs open within the app, so that I could multitask: take my time drafting an email in one tab, read other emails in other tabs, while monitoring incoming new mail, etc. I do this all the time in the web browser version, but would very much prefer to continue using the desktop app. Thanks!

Ability to Sort Email by Sender
Good Evening, I love your email service. However, your service is the only one I am aware of that doesn't allow me to sort my emails by sender. This is a critical and should be easy update. I hope you do it soon!

Option to hide account email in UI
When logged into Proton usually the my account email is shown in various places (for example, in Mail, it is in the upper-right hand corner of the app under the email label)
I would like an option to mask the account email. For example: johnwick@proton.me would be johxxxck@proton.me or johxxxxx@proton.me
This would ensure that spying eyes can't know my full email address for my account.
Alternatively, hiding the account email in the UI is also sufficient since all email identities come with a display name, and that display name could replace or be shown in replace of the email ID in the UI.

Adding IMAP/POP and SMTP support for other email providers in Proton Mail
While I understand that protons first goal is to ensure privacy and emails from other providers like outlook or gmail cannot be as private as emails that run directly through proton it is a hard truth that most of us are still forced to use gmail or outlook.
Mostly because of work, but there are surely even other reasons.
For proton to ultimately become the “main hub” I believe it should allow users to send and receive emails from other providers through SMTP and IMAP/POP
The user is responsible for this and should understand that sending emails through these accounts are less secure. Proton should still allow it, in the end the user bears the consequences of their own decision.
And while Proton cannot ensure the privacy of those emails they can still provider some services like checking trackers and other services with emails from those accounts.
Allowing this would finally let me achieve the goal of using proton for everything.
It would also be easier to convince others to switch to proton as the initial switch would not be so harsh since they can still send and receive emails from their current accounts making the switch more seamless.

Make Mail Bridge Free
As a new user to the Proton ecosystem I'm put off by the fact that I need to pay for such a basic feature that other providers offer for free.

Download attachments button above e-mail body in mobile app
In the mobile app, you only can download your attachments with a button below e-mail body. In longer conversations, you need to scroll through many messages before you reach the buttons.
Moving the buttons to be located above the message would eliminate this problem.

Add ALL Proton apps to the Accrescent.app store
Have you considered or are you planning on adding the Proton apps to the Accrescent (app store focused on security, privacy, and usability)
Accrescent is a private and secure Android app store built with modern features in mind.
It was just endorsed by GrapheneOS (considered by many to be the most private and secure mobile operating). GrapheneOS also now has accrescent in their app store.
Right now there is only 9 apps on it. So any new apps added get great installation opportunities from the privacy and security minded community.
Anyway, I really love and use all the Proton apps, and would love to see it on Accrescent because it's so easy to install and update apps compared with f-droid, plus much more secure!
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I'm a security and privacy conscious individual, not associated with Accrescent or GrapheneOS (though I use them both).

Proton Contacts mobile app
Hellove!
Yesterday I used Google Contacts (and/or the default Huawei contacts) app on my Android phone.
Tomorrow, I will use the secure and lovely Proton Contacts app for Android (and possibly iOS - there are probably iOS users who would want this, too).
From this Proton Contacts app, I will also be able to do my regular calls, browse call logs, see favourite contacts and groups for contacts, and utilize a search function for it all.
Please strongly consider making this tomorrow today, Proton Team <3
Thank you!

Search results should display folder name
Search results display lists out all the emails that fit the search results (the search report). This shows one line per email of basic data about that email. This will show label name in the custom color--which is very helpful. However, if the email is located / assigned to a folder, the one-line display in this report/list shows a folder icon but no folder NAME.
Even if I open that email to look at all of that email's data, there is NO indicator of where this email is located. As of March 2024, it can only exist in one folder. I cannot assign it to multiple folders. So, it should be very easy to display the folder to which it is assigned--search results and on the single email display page, too.

Better workflow of running filters (filtering existing emails)
It seems that there's a (very narrow) limit of how many filtering processes can be run at the same time and with a large mailbox the filtering processes can take significant amount of time.
This doesnt affect the incoming emails, but is a huge problem when someone creates new filters to parse existing emails.
There are actually three different problems here but with a same root cause:
1. Proton doesnt allow queueing filtering processes.
2. When adding a new filter from an existing email and marking "Apply to existing emails" while another filtering process(es) is/are running, there's no warning/error message that the newly added filter will not be applied to existing emails.
3. When running filtering of existing email from "Settings", if another filtering process(es) is/are already running, there is an error message shown on the bottom, but i still dont know if and when i will be able to successfully run another filter on existing emails. There's no notification if a filtering is already running in the background, how many are running and what is the progress on then.It seems that there's a (very narrow) limit of how many filtering processes can be run at the same time and with a large mailbox the filtering processes can take significant amount of time.

Button to split and merge conversation - or fix it to be on par with Gmail
Feature request:
- Either fix the conversation view to be on-par with Gmail. (not just group by subject)
- Or a "split from conversation" or "merge into conversation" button to fix the conversations/emails I selected. I was hoping to help Proton learn with bigdata eventually, and resolve my immediate problem.
Problem example 1
- Conversation view enabled me to migrate from Gmail to Proton. I pay for it but it is still broken and not on-par.
- I have emails by different people/organisations being grouped because they have the same short subject.
- This likewise results in the carefully crafted labels that should be different, to show merged into one conversation.
Problem example 2
- I have multiple people reply to the same email thread, and they do not show up as one conversation.
- This likewise results in each of those conversations being - oncomplete.
- This likewise results in each of those conversations not folding as expected, showing lots of duplicate information.
I am really happy the conversation feature exists - it is what allowed me to migrate from Gmail to Proton; and pay for it.

Block Sender in bulk and by domain
The "block messages from this sender" option is great. Please add an option beneath to "block messages from this domain" because future messages from the domain still require blocking. This would save lots of time compared to the Filters page in settings.

Display Reply-To header in incoming emails
It would be nice if the mail app (I'm using the web) would show a Reply-To header when present. Or perhaps when different than the From header.
My use case is that someone sent me an email through a web site which does not expose my email unless I reply. The sender's email is in Reply-To, though the mail is from Foobar-mailer.

Pin E-Mails to the top of the E-Mail List.
Pin E-Mails to the top of the E-Mail List. This is a very helpful feature in Outlook already, and I love it at work.
Sometimes you have very important e-mails that should always be visible. As soon as they are no longer important, you can simply unpin them.
