Search for emails in specific folder
Search is pretty terrible. It doesn't let me do a good job of saying what folder I want to search in. For instance, I very rarely want to search in Trash (it's in Trash for a reason). I'd just like to be able to specify the folders to search in, seems like a pretty basic feature!

Display Message - newest on top
Please add the function to sort Emails from newest to oldest (top to bottom) - so the newest message can be viewed on Top! That would be an awesome upgrade which makes the "readability" and organization of PM a lot better!

Disable or delay tooltips
The current Tooltip feature should have an option to either completely disable it, or to set a delay before the tooltip pops up.
Currently, when I select emails to delete and then move my cursor up towards the Delete button, this tooltip pops up INSTANTLY when my mouse touches the box to select all, blocking access to the Delete button.
So I regularly have to move past the tooltip and wait for it to go away before I can click delete. This introduces "lag" in the action of selecting and deleting emails, something done on a frequent basis.
If you could set a delay of, say 3 seconds, then you would have to hover over a button or control for a few seconds before the tooltip appears (how many applications handle tooltips) and it would prevent this from being such a PITA. Or, give users the option to disable tooltips all together.
Some users who have been using the application for years don't really need tooltips anymore.

Disable swipes
There should be a possibility to disable swipes (either left to right, or right to left) on the phone app. More often than not I'm marking emails as spam or deleting them, just because I'm touching the interface.

Leveraging ProtonPass & Signal to Facilitate Non-ProtonMail Recipients Password Management
PROBLEM:
When sending “Encrypted Emails to Non-Proton Recipients” … it is cumbersome to have to “manually manage” the “Shared Secrets / Passwords” for each recipient … in particular if you are communicating with multiple recipients repeatedly. In addition … it requires communicating the password through a secure encrypted channel … normally I use “Signal”.
FEATURE REQUEST:
Add an additional field in “ProtonPass” for documenting email recipients and their shared secret for encrypted communications within ProtonMail. You could integrate ProtonPass with ProtonMail such that it detects that you are sending an encrypted email to a Non-ProtonMail recipient … and prompts you to save the recipient and the shared secret in ProtonPass for future subsequent communications with the same recipient. Then when configuring a new email with the same recipient … it provides you with the saved shared secret / password … and auto-populates the required field in ProtonMail when prompted.Next … to facilitate seamless transmission of the shared secret to the recipient … collaborate with “Signal” … such that you could bundle Signal with a Proton Unlimited subscription. Then when you are sending encrypted emails … and you save the shared secret for encryption and decryption of the message … you could click a “Launch Signal” button from within ProtonMail … that would bring up Signal to auto populate and send the shared secret to the recipient … if they have Signal. If you had to you could store the recipients phone number in ProtonPass along with their email address … so you could key off the email address … then bring up the appropriate Signal contact with the associated recipients phone number as a reference to locate them in Signal contacts … as Signal is “phone number based”.
Signal is a non-profit organization. But personally … I'd be willing to pay let's say an additional $5 per year for the Proton Unlimited subscription …if I knew it was donated to Signal. You could abstract the customer from that donation … and just work it with Signal in the background. Or let your customers know that they are doing a good deed by informing them that $5 of their subscription is going to Signal in compensation for integrating their service with Proton Unlimited.

Map HubSpot IMAP to Proton Mail
Presently, there is no way to map HubSpot IMAP to Proton Mail. This would allow the user/account owner of HubSpot to send emails (and receive) from a client contact. You can do it with Googles, Microsoft 365 and Exchange. I do not exactly want to use these Darth Vaders....

Forward newsletters through sieve filter
There is currently no way to forward newsletters.
I have been a fastmail user and just forwarded every newsletter to Omnivore and automatically deleted the emails afterwards. As some prefer to send out emails instead of providing an rss feed, this had been a great option!
Why can't I do this in Proton? Sieve filters (which are needed to detect if an email is a newsletter) won't allow forwarding.. ("tag where string expected near :copy")

Resizable desktop window
I have a sideways 1440p monitor for keeping things I need to watch open.
The window of the mail app cannot be resized so that it can fit in half the height of the display. (720 pixels)
The browser version fits fine.In addition, the height of the window also will not fit to 720 pixels.

Choose installation path for desktop app
Hello,
First of all, thank you for all the great work you are accomplishing at Proton.
I really love the idea of using Proton via the desktop app, but one thing is a no-go for me :
My disks are partitioned and my OS is isolated from my other installed applications.
I don't want ProtonMail client to be installed in "%LocalAppData%\proton_mail" by default and wanna be able to choose another partition / disk to install it.
I investigated a bit on the underlying installation system, which is Squirrel, and actually it seems to not allow installation path customization.
https://github.com/Squirrel/Squirrel.Windows/blob/develop/docs/using/install-process.mdDon't know if there is an hidden feature in Squirrel for this, or if the installer/packager technical stack could/should be change to allow custom installation path.
I really hope you'd be able to address this issue, as I really want to switch to ProtonMail desktop app.
Keep up the great work !

Different inbox for each custom email address/alias
For each custom email address/alias, a specific inbox. Or at the very least, the ability to sort emails by which email alias/address they came from.

In Gmail one can change the font of a pasted in text to match normal look of the rest of the email. Proton only lets one change the entire email to text or normal

Maintain checkbox selection, even when clicking into an email
I'm often going through emails to decide which I can delete. I'll have several emails already selected. If I click into one of the emails and then back out, all of my selections are gone. This has happened many times and is very frustrating.

Search field for folders on mobile
Similarly to what already exist on the web app, add a search field when moving an email to a folder in the mobile app, to find the desired folder much faster, rather than scrolling through the list.
If like me you have an extensive folder architecture, you have to wait to be on a computer to sort your emails that just popped into your inbox.
That would allow us nerds to sort our emails on the go and always have a clean and empty inbox!Cheers

Update window for desktop app should identify itself
A standalone notification window just appeared out of nowhere in the middle of my screen - without saying what is sending it.
Since such behavior is super suspicious and could be coming from any malicious software, for precaution I had to use System Informer to check where is this window coming from.
Not sure if this is an update 'feature' of electronjs, however, it has to be fixed. I have huge stack of apps running on my system. It's nice to understand who is whistling at the time. Could be bad ETs. :)
Don't scare your customers. :)
Obviously I cannot paste the screenshot here on UserVoice.com, so I will write texts displayed in this strange update notification window:

favicon / email sender icon
Favicons / email sender icons for incoming emails are already displayed in the Proton mail web app and iphone app (if the sender has set such an icon, of course), but I haven't found a feature to add such an icon for my outgoing mails (I use a custom domain name). Any possibility to add such a feature?
(please correct me of this is something that has to be set somewhere else, I haven't found any info about that)

New paid mail tier
I can't find this anywhere else.
There is an enormous difference in both price and features between free proton mail (for individuals) and the paid option.
It would be nice to have an in between option.
For example;
EUR3.99/month with 200GB, 10 email addresses and 1 custom domain.
The current paid option is ERU9.99/month. In Europe or the US this is probably quite reasonable but it is almost AUD200/year.

Replace "Can't find what you're looking for? Include Spam/Trash." with a button
That line of text is distracting and could easily be replaced by a button which would be neater.
