  1. Automated folder filtering during Easy Switch

    Setting up Gmail forwarding as a new user to Proton almost made me quit the platform, it was so daunting to have that much data thrown at me. Setting up an easy transition like a dedicated Gmail forwarding folder option would make the transition alot easier for new users. Or predetermined filters that new users could setup, for example anything Social media related is filtered into a folder along with anything on a newsletter list.

  2. Maintain checkbox selection, even when clicking into an email

    I'm often going through emails to decide which I can delete. I'll have several emails already selected. If I click into one of the emails and then back out, all of my selections are gone. This has happened many times and is very frustrating.

  3. When creating an offline email on mobile, allow to 'save as draft' 'send when online' or 'delete'

    Creating a new email when offline (mobile device) can only be ended by 'Send' button. The email then is stored in the 'Draft' folder but in 'sending' mode. A user cannot alter or delete this email.

    Solution idea:
    When offline and creating an email, replace the send-'arrow' by a 3dot-menu with three options:
    Safe in Draft
    Send when online
    Delete

    Additional option:
    If selected 'Send', still provide the option to stop the send-process or at least make the deletion of such an email possible in the draft folder.

  4. Search field for folders on mobile

    Similarly to what already exist on the web app, add a search field when moving an email to a folder in the mobile app, to find the desired folder much faster, rather than scrolling through the list.

    If like me you have an extensive folder architecture, you have to wait to be on a computer to sort your emails that just popped into your inbox.
    That would allow us nerds to sort our emails on the go and always have a clean and empty inbox!

  7. Update window for desktop app should identify itself

    A standalone notification window just appeared out of nowhere in the middle of my screen - without saying what is sending it.

    Since such behavior is super suspicious and could be coming from any malicious software, for precaution I had to use System Informer to check where is this window coming from.

    Not sure if this is an update 'feature' of electronjs, however, it has to be fixed. I have huge stack of apps running on my system. It's nice to understand who is whistling at the time. Could be bad ETs. :)

  8. Unlimited subfolder nesting

    I am requesting an enhancement of the existing subfolder management to allow for unlimited nesting. This would allow for organizational schemes such as Johnny.Decimal and others.

  9. View multiple email tabs in desktop app

    In the OSX email app, I would love to have multiple tabs open within the app, so that I could multitask: take my time drafting an email in one tab, read other emails in other tabs, while monitoring incoming new mail, etc. I do this all the time in the web browser version, but would very much prefer to continue using the desktop app. Thanks!

  10. Customize iOS notifications (with filters)

    Currently I get an IOS notification every time an email comes in. The vast majority of my emails don't need an immediate response, but a few do. I would like to only get a notification on the IOS app if an email triggers a specific filter.

  11. Snooze email keyboard shortcut

    Can we please get a keyboard shortcut for the snooze option? It could default to later today or tomorrow, or open up a menu where you could select a time using arrow keys (just a thought).

    I got really used to snoozing unimportant emails to deal with them later, especially when I can't decide whether it's actionable or not.

    When it was requested, you did not give us the opportunity to preview PDFs, you FORCED us to preview them. I do not and never want to preview PDFs, as I ONLY use my pdf software to view PDFs. Now, you MUST preview it before you download it. I have had nothing but problems by closing protonmail entirely due to your poor interface with the PDF previewer closer when I try to close the PDF, I keep hitting the "close preview window" button, but it's also the "close PM" button.   14. Customize email notifications per product

    I'd like to be able to control notifications for email separately from notifications for calendar. On both MacOS and iOS, I only see one place to configure notifications and it affects both mail and calendar. If I must receive a notification for every single email, then to avoid this continuous distraction, I'm forced to disable notifications altogether, meaning I won't receive any notifications for my calendar appointments.

    Additionally, whether or not to see the red unread message count overlayed on my Proton Mail icon in MacOS should be configurable. That's another unneeded distraction.

  15. Do not load content of Phishing and Domain authentication failure emails

    Do not load content of emails flagged as "Phishing" or that failed domain authentication. This is can be a vulnerability.
    Also as my previous feedback was deleted, when logged out by force, revoke session, right now this creates duplicate valid sessions (as shown on website dashboard)

  16. Send encrypted email without password (user clicks a link to respond)

    Why can you only send a Password-protected Emails? It should be optional for receiver to just click a link. That way its easier for them, and the secure message can still expire..

    • buying subscriptions (Mail Plus) in the Proton Mail app
      • this is possible in the Pass and Drive apps, but not the others
    • 12- and 24-month discounts for in-app subscriptions

    I'm using the latest version of Android. This is mainly for consistency, but I also have Google Play credit I would like to use. Thank you.

  19. Customize favorite labels in reading action menu

    In the web application when reading an email there is an action menu for the email on the screen: "mark as read/unread, move to folder, move to trash, label, filter, etc.".

    I would like to be able to choose some favorite labels and have them show up on this menu bar so I don't have to hunt for them in the label menu. Likewise you could use a simple algorithm to show the commonly used labels here as well. I have a lot of labels but tend to apply some frequently and don't have easy logic to be able to…

  20. Automatically detect language for spell check

    I write emails using both English and French. My browser has several dictionaries installed, but Proton Mail spell checker doesn't seem to know the difference.

    What would be neat is if Proton Mail could recognise the typed language (as for instance MS Outlook does), and do spell check accordingly.
