How can we improve Proton Mail?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.

  1. Add "Undo" button next to confirmation that a message was archived or deleted.

    Currently, when I archive or delete a message in the Proton Mail app, it confirms with a bottom ribbon that the message was processed. I would like that message to have an "Undo" button/link next to it, in case I archived/deleted it by mistake.

    This happens often with swipe gestures, and would be a quick/easy way to recover from it without having to go hunt it down in the Trash or All Mail.

  2. Go To Page

    When you search for an email address and the results show 732 pages, it would be nice to be able to go to a particular page rather than having to go to Page 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. If I want to go straight to the last page, I should be able to go there. If I want to go straight to page 545, I should be able to go there. Currently, I have to go one page after another which wastes time downloading, processing, appearing, moving, etc. Add a GO TO page feature.

  3. Enable a User-Selectable DARK Mode Option for Linux Desktop App

    For the life of me, I can't find any option to change the Proton Mail app colour mode in Linux. Oh sure, the app will change to dark mode if I change my entire KDE Plasma desktop to dark mode, but I want to be able to keep my default (light) desktop mode, but change the Proton app to dark mode.

  4. Does Spirit allow unaccompanied minor to travel?

    Is your kid flying alone with Spirit? Don’t freak out and opt for the Spirit Airlines Unaccompanied Minor service to ensure a safe and happy travel. The airline accepts unaccompanied minors on direct domestic flights, including Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Children between 5 and 14 years old traveling alone will be considered as the Unaccompanied Minor on the Spirit flight. Remember that the airline won’t accept minors on Connecting and International flights.

  5. select and delete definitively ALL the messages from a search (not only page by page)

  6. Make 'Official' label visible

    Just moved from folders to labels.

    The Proton Official emails are labeled but there is no way to pull these up conveniently. Thus I've kept my Proton folder and associated filter

    Would be nice to have it optionally display in my label list / be searchable at the very least.

  8. Improve Self-Destruct

    Self-Destruct function is a great feature but is some space for improvements.

    1. Self destruct in 7 days (please allow us to change this default value according to preference (for example "Self destruct in 27 days", etc...). in other words, allow us to set a value for the default destruction period.

    2. Option to set a Global Self-Destruction for all incoming mails.

    3. Option to set Self-Destruction for particular folders which to overwrite the Global Self-Destruction setting.

    4. In contacts application add a field where we can set a Self-Destruct period for all mails received from that contact email address/addresses which to overwrite all…

  9. Show total number of emails in folders

    Please add functionality to view total number of emails in a specific folder and total number of selected email.

    It could be something similar to google implementation.

  10. workstation/laptop Mail

    The mobile Mail app supports multiple users without relogging in. It would be very helpful if this feature existed on Win /MacOS as well. I have multiple domains under multiple users and this is less efficient than the Google version that I transferred from

  12. Automatic reset of the search bar

    It would be nice if the search bar automatically reset when you click on a folder after a search.
    Or to have the choice of automatic reset.
    Most of the time, you have to delete the word manually from the search bar to view the contents of a selected folder.

    In Proton Mail's settings, the "File and Labels" page is not very optimized.

  14. Consistent search bar

    On iPhone or iPad, when you want to redirect a mail to a folder, a new window appears. However, unlike Apple mail, there is no search box.
    It's tedious to scroll through all the folders until you find and select the one you want.
    It would be interesting to see this search box appear in every window that opens on all proton services

  16. Shorten 'Message sent' notification in Android app

    The dialog box lingers for way too long after sending/forwarding a message, causing a long wait to access the delete and other buttons at the bottom of the app. Please enable user to suppress, reposition, tap through the box to shorten the display time. Same with 'message deleted'. Thanks!

  17. Increase visible emails per page from 50 to +100

    If I want to delete many emails from a given sender, it seems that I must do it by loading 50 at a time and then mass-deleting them. Then I have to load the next 50, etc. Is there a way to view/delete more per iteration?

  19. Keep multiple mail selection after accidentally opening one

    When selecting multiple emails for deletion, if an email is accidentally clicked on and opened, it deselects all the previously selected emails, requiring them to be selected again. It would be very helpful if they could remain selected after opening an email.

  20. App updates should not require a download

    I'm using the Linux app, and whenever there's an update to Proton Mail, I need to visit the website, log in, download a package file, run it to execute the update, and then delete the file (or it just takes up space).

    I'm not sure how it works in other operating systems, but all of those steps are annoying and unnecessary (and make it very likely that users won't install updates promptly). Proton mail is installed with apt (the standard Linux software-management program); it should update through apt as well, so updates happen as part of the regular process and…
