make a default domain shorter
Make a regular domain shorter, for example: email@example.com.
firstname.lastname@example.org is too long
ProtonMail now offers the domain pm.me for email addresses. You can learn more within the settings of your account or at https://pm.me/.
.me is rare domain and most of people are not familiar with it. This makes problems which .com would solve.
Please make pm.com
When someone ask for my mail address they have difficulities on 'protonmail'. I must spell it out each time ... and on 1/3 cases I don't receive the mail
I agree, something shorter. Let those that enjoy typing use the long name if they want.
Here is another idea:
It would be sad to shorten it, I think it’s great as is! Definitely an “eyecatcher” when you say “Protonmail”.
@anonymous (December 30th) Did u actually type has "been boughten"?

Can you imagine how frustrating it to have to type email@example.com; I believe firstname.lastname@example.org speaks for itself.

Je to jen otázka zvyku. Plně vyhovuje.
In my opinion, the shorter anyone needs is possible paying for the own domain.
But in order to propose one, I like this
user@Who’s On First, What’s On Second, I Don’t Know’s on Third.com.
I don't believe it's possible but everyone will remember YOU and certainly will receive "The Funniest Domain" platinum prize.
DO YOUR BEST !
Check the feature request at https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-feedback/suggestions/16711918-can-we-short-the-protonmail-name. They acquired pm.me.
I've bought my own domain that is shorter. Proton.com sounds cool yet I'd rather avoid using .com domains as they are on US jurisdiction. Try any non US country that has strong privacy. As a side note there is a .pm domain (stands for Pierre et Miquelon, a French overseas country) so the possibility could be endless.
The tweet is from March... any news since ?
Protonmail is an awesome name and is not long at all. "Shorter " names seem basic and plain. The name was one of the things that caught my attention when looking at email alternatives.

Protonmail already have this in the works. They own the domain pm.me
See this tweet
They would have to own pm.com which has already been boughten.
this is by far the dumbest idea i have seen on this board
Hello! Agreed. Or promail.com. Or pm.com. Or ptm.com. Or anything shorter and easier!
Trying to give out such a long email address is challenging!
would prefer they add @p.mail instead
