How can we improve Proton Mail?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  1. Multiple Signatures

    We really need the ability to have multiple different signatures that we can swap out, instead of having to re-write one every time we want to send an email to a different group. For instance, regs require me to have a certain format for my signature. However I do not want to be using the same signature for just everyday email. I also do not want to have to make an entire new account.

    ability to mark some folders as "private" and protect them with a separate password.

  3. Add markdown to the composer

    I want to be able to write emails in markdown rather then a typical composer. Its cleaner, easier and readable. It could give the edge when sending a email.

  5. An option for having unread messages on top of mailbox

    This feature would allow users to have by default the unread messages on top allways, rather that having to select the show unread from the menu.

    I am usually more interested in having access to my unread messages, even if they are old.

  8. Quoting options: Bottom, top, quote character

    There aren't any quoting options for the compose editor yet. It just does arguably the worst thing, top-quoting while indenting any previous message(s).

    Options that would be nice are:

    • Which quote character to use (default >)
    • Where to quote original messages (top or bottom)

  9. Mail redirection function (NOT the same as forwarding)

    A mail REDIRECTION function should be made available in addition to the existing FORWARDING function in Proton Mail web mail. The mail redirect function has been available on common web mail front end UIs such as the HORDE web mail system popular with many regular ISP which provide web mail interface to their mail servers. Redirect is NOT the same as forwarding because redirect is as if the mail arrived at an e-mail address which is just a forwarder address and continues send the e-mail on to its final destination.   13. notification synchronization

    The mobile email notification is great, but it needs to automatically be removed when you interact with the email on another device. In other words, I get a notification on my phone while sitting at my desk. I open the email and delete it in my browser. Currently the notification stays on my phone. It should be "unpushed' after I interact. This is may seem minor, but I have multiple devices (as do most people) and without it the notification is inaccurate and subsequently pointless.

  15. Dynamic filter creation

    It would be extremely convenient to be able to automatically add an email address to an existing filter as follows:

    1. User has some folders setup already
    2. User drags a new email from friend@somewhere.com into folder "friends"
    3. Small dialog pops up to ask if you would like to add this email address to the filter(s) that send to the "friends" folder.

    To make this simpler, you could have a default filter per folder, and this dialog would simply add the dragged email's address to that filter. It would then be simpler to check if this email is already part of the…

  16. Choose which alias can log in to Proton

    Hello Outlook.com now is accepting to choose what alias can be used to login on account to improve security.

    Why Proton mail dont do the same thing? with this we are protected from botnets(credential stuffing or brute force), because we can create a alias and dont share the username with anyone.

  19. move the "All Mail" folder far away from the Trash folder

    Please (For God's sake) move the "ALL MAIL" folder far away from the TRASH folder! You have it directly underneath the Trash folder and I've accidentally emptied/deleted "all mail" twice now thinking I was emptying my Trash folder. So now I all my inbox mail is permanently gone.
