We have the ability to create a Blackberry app, but are focused instead on iOS and Android. We may build one later this year, or explore the idea of opening our API for the community to build one instead.

  2. make protonmail faster

    Search is slow
Deleting multiple (15+) emails is slow
    Emptying the trash is slow

This service is so slow that I'd rather just let the NSA read my email

  3. Send As (from external address - Add support for EXTERNAL SMTP servers in apps)

It would be nice to be able to send an email as a different address.
Google has a feature like this. So I can send from my schools .edu account from inside my personal gmail.

  4. SimpleLogin seamless integration for email alias reverse-alias usage

SimpleLogin works very well with Proton Mail, and it's great that this is now included in certain paid subscriptions, however there are some opportunities for a more seamless integration in the Proton Mail apps (Web and Mobile), in particular:

    1. Receiving emails:
Option to show actual email address as sender instead of reverse-alias under "From" (i.e. use "X-Simplelogin-Envelope-From" email header where enabled instead of "From").

    2. Sending emails:
Option to select email alias as sender under "From" (in the same way as "real" addresses/mailboxes) and then use actual email addresses (rather than the reverse-aliases) under "To", and have Proton Mail automatically use…

  5. Ability to remove/delete attachments

Attachments are not always worth keeping, so please add ability to delete selected attachments as an alternative to simply downloading them.

  6. Sorting by date, sender, subject, subject A to Z or Z to A

Every other email I've used allows sorting by date, sender, subject. A to Z or Z to A (not the same as filtering by key word)

  7. Support for Spark Email Client

It would be great to get support for Spark. If you're unfamiliar with Spark by Readdle, you can check it out here: https://sparkmailapp.com/

I have 10+ email accounts that I manage with Spark. It supports every single type of mail service there is, but because of ProtonMail's security and encryption, they are currently not compatible. Gmail, Exchange, iCloud, everything but ProtonMail. Would really like to get that working.

  8. Support JMAP

Supporting the JMAP protocol (https://jmap.io/) would be great. It aims at replacing IMAP and is much more efficient. FastMail is already using it.

  9. Android parity to iOS app

    Hello!
Please speed up the development of your android application. Your iOS app has features that are not in the Android app. It just seems like a shame. Could you please speed up adding anti-tracking features (tracker blocking and picture uploads with IP hiding) to the android app as well? It would also be desirable to add the toolbar customization feature as well.

Please note that all these features are already available in iOS application, while there are practically no innovations in Android application. This is just a shame and shame for such a huge company.

  10. "Reply-To" field for outgoing emails.

"Reply-To" feild is missing in ProtonMail, where we can set an reply-to email address while sending emails. This enables the recipient to reply to that "reply-to" address instead of the one from which the email was sent.

  14. Informing ProtonMail users about potentially unsafe messages

    Hi,

I would like to see this feature added to ProtonMail.

When a ProtonMail user sends email to other email service or receives email from other email service, then ProtonMail will indicate / highlight...
    a) When a received message was not encrypted (TLS)
    b) When composing a message to a recipient whose email service doesn't support TLS encryption, or when the sender’s domain couldn't be authenticated. An indicator before sending a message to a service that doesn't support TLS encryption

This will be useful, as the user can find out if email (sent / received) is encrypted in transit when…

Provide the ProtonMail Service in further major European languages such as German, French, Spanish, Italian. That could improve the acceptance and increase the number of users.

  17. Implement DANE for added security and privacy

DANE (DNSSEC) would be hugely beneficial to the security and privacy of ProtonMail. DANE makes Man-in-the-Middle attacks practically impossible.

This is a necessary addition and should certainly be prioritized over-all, as it is at the core of what ProtonMail represents: privacy and security.

It's currently a feature available over at Tutanota (https://tutanota.com) and definitely sets it apart as an arguably more secure option, here's a great read on the topic: https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/dane-everywhere

  18. Proton Mail MacOS app

For MacOS, for more protection, we should get a new MacOS app for ProtonMail. This is a more simple way of using ProtonMail instead of visiting the website or creating new encryption methods for existing mail apps (such as apple mail).

  19. Encrypted Contact Form for Websites

A contact form that we can embed on our websites so visitors can send encrypted emails to our ProtonMail addresses. The form could automatically encrypt messages before sending them, and have the usual fields like name, email, subject, and message body.

For example, the form could be inside an <iframe> that's served over HTTPS.

The embed code would need to use some kind of token instead of the actual email address, to protect the address from being disclosed to email harvester bots. Also, for greater security, the form could refuse to load if it detects it's embedded on an insecure…
