  1. Show server’s/country’s flag on browser’s extension instead of locked icon

It would be a nice visualization and addition to
the browser extension if we could see the flag of the servers or countries we connect to instead of having a green lock. The new browser extension would allow us to see and remember what country we are connected to without having to click the extension every time to see if we are connected . However, when browser extension is not connected to a server I think it is convenient to display a red unlocked icon, since we aren’t connected to a server

  2. Ability to see current load of selected servers - web interface or API

I use the router config exclusively.

Need a quick way other than visiting the web dashboard and drilling down to find current load of any given server... it's cumbersome to visit the web page, click through the menu, scroll down to country, expand the list, then open browser search to find the server you're looking for.

An API would be awesome. With an API in place, clients could be built for various platforms (windows, mac, ios, browser extension, etc.)

Then when server loads goes nuts I can quickly switch (via my router app) to another server I have already configured.

  3. Proton VPN for Windows - reconnecting

When a Windows 11 PC sleeps/hibernates the VPN client does not reconnect and "spins". You have to fully close out of the VPN app, relaunch and then reconnect.

  4. Ugly Green. Offer additional VPN app theme color choices.

The new redesign is great, except for the ugly grandma kitchen green theme. Also, why is the best look you could come up with is some fading fog of war looking filter as if it's a video game from 1997?

If you're going to stick with the fog of war look, then at least allow us to choose the colors.

I'm cool with all of the other green, it's just that fog look you got. It's really the only theme color that dominates the entire space. I'd much rather that filter be disabled, but if you won't let us disable…

  5. Add netshield setting to profiles in Windows app

Allow netshield to be specified on/off in profiles as it is in the Android app. This allows ad-blocking to be turned off easily by connecting to a new profile if a web site is not being displayed properly

  6. Business - Organization-wide country whitelist

As an organization, I want to be able to restrict which countries my employees can connect to.

This would support geo-filter restricted sites, ensure traffic is not routed through certain countries, and simplify access from the client providing less countries to choose from.

Could you please add more servers in Melbourne, Australia? We are the second largest city in the country and have the fewest servers by far. Thank you!

  8. Make it possible to randomize for fastest connection within custom parameters

For instance, I want it to pick the fastest server anywhere in the eastern time zone using stealth with p2p optimization and onion routing. And maybe allow a corresponding custom server list at the top of the ‘countries’ list, or similar.

  9. Port C/C++ code to Rust

Mullvad VPN moved from Wireguard-go to GotaTun for improved Wireguard performance and security. Please consider doing the same for Proton. After all, Mullvad has already done most of the work.

In a rapidly-changing security landscape (e.g. Claude Mythos), memory-safe code is more crucial than ever – especially for something as important and system-wide as a VPN.

We got a great older MAC with OS 12 that can't upgrade anymore now has no more VPN even though we pay for it.

  12. Improve Discreet Calculator: Keep calculator mode as default after unlocking

As a ProtonVPN user in a region with strict censorship, I really appreciate the Discreet Icon feature, especially the calculator disguise option.
Currently, when I enter the secret formula (e.g. “12+21”) and press “=”, the app unlocks and shows the real ProtonVPN interface. However, the next time I open the app, it directly displays the VPN dashboard instead of the normal calculator.
My suggestion is to make the calculator mode persistent: after unlocking, the app should return to (and stay in) the ordinary calculator interface by default. Only when I deliberately enter the secret formula again and press “=” will…

  13. Update TV app interface & add more features

I've been using Proton for years and one of the things that still bugs me, although certain things have been added we're still lacking a kill switch and many more modern settings with a modern interface that alignes with the rest of the VPN apps. Will this be addressed at all? I know it's something myself and others have asked for a lot over the years and I know whilst TV apps may not be the top priority it's something many of us need nowadays, I've had it a few times where my IP has been exposed as the app…

  16. PC Performance

I would appreciate if the Windows VPN Client could get a "minimalist" or "performance" mode with reduced footprint on system resources. Even on a modern high end PC and especially when using other Proton apps at the same time, multitasking and working, it adds up.
Maybe we could get a setting for a minimal UI without all the fancy elements and animations? Even closed to the sys tray and being in the background, the VPN uses over 400MB RAM + dedicated GPU VRAM while constantly drawing GPU utilization causing unnecessary interrupts. It's undesireable when using the VPN while doing other…

  17. Cidr Notation for split tunneling

I currently have multiple subnets, and adding every single host I'd need a split tunnel is impractical. By allowing CIDR notation on the configs, we could allow 10.0.3.0/24 and have a whole slice of the network bypass the VPN.

As a plus, adding a per-network switch possibility would avoid my 10.0.1.1 (for instance) to be allowed without a VPN on public WiFi, for instance (which ties nicely to the "trusted networks" feature request)

  18. Launch Linux GUI app on boot

I saw a completed post asking the Linux app on boot, but I guess it is not the GUI version, or perhaps not the one for Fedora.

For me on Fedora with the GUI version I have to manually launch Proton VPN every time.

    By manually launching Proton VPN:
    1 - The system remains unprotected for a certain time;
    2 - Creates a needless ritual for every session;
3 - Nullifies the purpose of the kill switch.

~/.config/autostart/ , Startup applications or GNOME extensions does not work because the GUI fails to connect during login. Only the kill switch starts…

  19. Split tunneling - Exclude one specific URL only.

Split tunneling - Exclude one specific URL only.
On my local network, I have to use a browser to access the settings for my Ethernet box. I could exclude the browser. However, I would prefer to exclude only the Ethernet box URL and be protected for other URLs.
Note: I haven't found a solution to this problem. My “Allow LAN connections” setting is enabled. It doesn't allow access to the Ethernet box, probably because of the browser session, I guess.
    Thanks

  20. Split-Tunneling App List

The current implementation of Split-Tunneling is good but I ran into a problem adding XBOX GamePass Games to it because the folder permissions does not allow Proton to open the .exe Files. I tried it by adding access rights for my user and for administrators but it still does not work.

My feature suggestion: Add a list of installed or currently running apps that we can easily select for split tunneling.
Or maybe a seperate Feature to add all XBOX App/GamePass Games to the exclusion
