Add split-tunneling to Profiles
Add split-tunneling as a customizable option for a Profile. This way if someone frequently uses split-tunneling for various applications, they do not have to go into the settings menu and make the app selections every time.

Real Quantum Encryption
For all Apps here are a few post-quantum cryptographic algorithms that are being considered as potential replacements for current cryptographic standards:
- Lattice-based cryptography: This includes algorithms like NTRUEncrypt, Kyber, and NewHope.

Allow Killswitch to be enabled with Split Tunnel
Currently, the app will not allow you to use the Split Tunnel feature if you have the Killswitch enabled. Having migrated from Private Internet Access, I was used to having this possibility with their client and would love to see this in Proton VPN as well.
Having some exceptions configured to bypass the VPN should not completely block the killswitch feature and open the risk of IP leaks.
I would be okay with the VPN app completely killing my bypassed connections as well, it wouldn't even have to be gracefully respecting those. That would just be a nice-to-have.

Tailscale exit nodes
I would love to be able to use Proton VPN as exit nodes on Tailscale.
They recently announced support for Mullvad exit nodes, and I'm sure they would be interested in adding more options:

Profiles: Allow selecting multiple servers
It would be nice to change profiles to add a checkbox beside the servers in the list so we can select multiple servers to put in the profile and leave out others.
Ex. I would like only Toronto Ontario servers nothing else in one profile.
Thanks

use DNS with DoT (dns over tls) or DoH (dns over https)
This is critical because the most people use a DNS with their own ISP.
The DNS can leak their true location.
Your vpn solution is not complete without DNS encryption. And please don't forget Linux not just Windows, Apple or Google.

Game Server Proximity Connection
This feature could enhance the gaming experience for VPN users. Upon initiating a gaming session, the VPN would identify the location of the game server to which the user is connected. The VPN would then select and connect to its own server that is geographically closest, or lowest ping to the game server. This process ensures optimal latency and performance by minimizing the distance data has to travel between the VPN server and the game server, potentially providing a better gaming experience.

Add DoH and DNS-over-QUIC Support for Custom DNS on iOS
I'm excited to see that ProtonVPN iOS now supports custom DNS functionality.
However, I noticed that it currently only supports plaintext UDP DNS queries.
As a privacy-conscious user who chose Proton specifically for its commitment to privacy, I would like to request support for encrypted DNS protocols, specifically DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) and DNS-over-QUIC.Privacy Concerns with Plaintext UDP DNS:
Even when using a VPN, plaintext UDP DNS poses several privacy risks:
1. DNS Query Visibility: While the VPN encrypts the connection between my device and the VPN server, DNS queries from the VPN server to the DNS resolver remain unencrypted and…81 votes -
Device status indicator (how many out of 10 are in use)
Its annoying that their is no overview of how many devices your using out of the 10 allowed.
Also, it would be nice to be able to name your devices if this feature is added.81 votes -
[MacOS] Change desktop app icon color to indicate connection status
The proton VPN app icon currently shows the connection status by showing a tiny cross sign or a tick, which is hardly noticeable when you have a high-resolution monitor. Changing the icon colour will make it much better. This can even be an option for the user to select the icon they would like to see when the connection is established or disconnected.

Re-enable access to API
Until recently, users could access the API (https://api.protonvpn.ch/vpn/logicals) to filter servers based on various criteria (e.g., country and server load) to ensure connection to a server that isn't overloaded. This ability was removed within the past few days. Support replied with the following:
…
Hello, Thank you for contacting us. Public access to the https://api.protonvpn.ch/vpn/logicals endpoint is no longer available due to internal changes. What you were using previously was not officially supported, and you can either use our native application to access the servers and their load, or manually download config files for a manual connection from https://account.protonvpn.com/downloads. Prevent On-Screen IP Leaks
A simple toggle to hide the IP address in the app UI is critical for users who share their screens.
As a streamer, opening the Proton VPN app on a live broadcast accidentally exposes my IP address, creating a security risk. The same risk applies to anyone giving a live presentation. The toggle in the settings could solve this by replacing the IP with asterisks.

Control the blocklists used by Netshield for ad blocking
Please add the ability for users to control the blocklists used by Netshield for ad blocking. Most other tools (such as PiHole, Next DNS etc) allow users to manually:
1. Specify which blocklists to activate
2. Add sites to a white list (this is often needed to get newsletter sign-up forms and login forms on subscription and e-commerce sites to work properly)
3. Add sites to a blacklist (custom blocklist).62 votes -
Linux client as a Flatpak
As Flathub is available in most distros it would make sense to publish the linux client as a Flatpak. And in addition with groving numbers in immutable distros, Flatpak is the prefferred method to install software.

Allow adding multiple users to an VPN account
Please make an option to add other users on the same network for the VPN service.
My family wants to use VPN at home but I don't want give each person my username and password to log into the ProtonVPN software. I'd rather have a simple family option where you can assign permission to an extra person or two to the same account, at least per network.
Hell, I'd even pay a teensy bit extra too for that feature as I think it's a perfectly reasonable request.

ProtonVPN, add VPN traffic obfuscation, like a ScrambleSuit
As internet censorship tightens across the world, governments are becoming more and more concerned about preventing the use of VPN to circumvent their restrictions.
A new internet traffic monitoring technology known as Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) has been proven to successfully block OpenVPN traffic regardless of the port used being 80, 443 or even 53. To sum up: everyone who uses the internet needs to be aware of Deep Packet Inspection. DPI is a next-generation technology capable of inspecting every byte of every traffic packet that passes through a DPI device, that means packet headers, types of applications and actual…

Add Support for Encrypted Custom DNS (DoH/DoQ) on macOS
Currently, Proton VPN on macOS only allows custom DNS configuration via plaintext IPv4. This exposes DNS queries to interception and does not align with Proton’s privacy-first principles.
Please add support for encrypted DNS protocols—DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH, RFC 8484) and DNS-over-QUIC (DoQ, RFC 9250)—within the macOS app’s DNS settings.
Many providers, such as NextDNS, do not accept unencrypted IPv4 queries unless pre-authorized. This limits usability and reduces privacy.
Optional IPv6 support should also be respected where resolvers prefer or require it.
Adding encrypted DNS support would ensure stronger protection of user traffic beyond the VPN tunnel and reinforce Proton’s commitment to privacy…
