  1. VLAN/Lan access

It should be possible to define routes which are not routed over the VPN. So currently my wifi devices are in a dedicated vlan, if I try to connect to a different vlan then with VPN on, its not possible.

  2. Proton VPN for Arch Linux

It would be nice to be able to use Proton VPN on Arch Linux with an official application.

  3. Android TV Kill Switch

    Hi,
I am a paying user of the Proton Unlimited pachage and I am very happy with Protons VPN. However, I use an androidbox on my tv and I am missing a killswitch!
Please add this as soon as possible because this is a real deal braker for me and I will probably switch back to Nord VPN if this is not fixed in the near future. I dont get why such an importand setting is not implemented in the android version of your VPN! I read many complaints about this issue on Reddit and people are looking at other,…

  4. Offer split tunneling, even with the kill switch activated

Sometimes, we want all our traffic to go through the VPN (including things the system does in the background), except for one or two applications/hostnames/IPs. The current approach does not allow this to be done without completely disabling the kill switch.

It's technically possible to implement this, although I admit it may require some changes on the client-side of the VPN. But this is very important!

  5. Add a feature to the Android version of Proton VPN that allows you to choose which apps can access the internet.

Add a feature to the Android version of Proton VPN that allows you to choose which apps can access the internet. This is different from split tunneling; it would give you the ability to block full internet access for apps that don't need it.
There are already apps that do this, but they use a VPN themselves and therefore cannot be used with Proton VPN.

  6. Fix Custom DNS on Linux and Windows

Custom DNS on Linux and Windows Does not work. The custom DNS address is ignored, and DNS requests are still sent via Proton servers.

It works on Android (although after some time it seems to revert to Proton DNS servers until I disconnect and reconnect, when it starts working again).

    This needs resolving please.

  7. Script managing WireGuard ProtonVPN for Linux using CLI only

I've put together a POSIX shell script allowing you to use ProtonVPN in Linux using only the native wireguard and Linux core utils having the script managing all aspects of the network such as routing and which DNS server to use when the VPN is up or not.

It works very well for me so I brushed it up with more thorough error handling, documentation and examples in case more people have an interest in it.

Basically it allows you to generate any number of protonvpn-wg-configurations you like and put them in your /etc/wireguard folder, the script selects up one…

  8. Split tunneling, select which app connects through which country

It would be great if Proton VPN split tunneling worked so that I can select which app's traffic is routed through whic country. For example, I'd like to select that Youtube goes through Moldova, Firefox through Netherlands, banking app through Germany etc. This could maybe be built into profiles as well so I can quickly set up even different split tunneling scenarios.

  9. Proposal for Universal Linux App Distribution via Flatpak or Snap

Proton VPN is currently officially supported on a limited number of distributions (Debian, Ubuntu, and Fedora) through separate .deb and .rpm packages. This approach requires maintaining distinct packages, which can be an unnecessary burden on your development team, and it leaves out users on a large number of other popular distributions like Arch, OpenSUSE, Solus, and immutable distros like Fedora Silverblue.

To address this, we propose adopting a universal Linux application packaging format, specifically Flatpak or Snap, for the official Proton VPN client.

Key Benefits of Adopting Flatpak or Snap:

    1. Massive Distribution Coverage: A single Flatpak (via Flathub) or Snap…

  10. Show Hosting Provider Info in Server List

Please add hosting provider info directly in the ProtonVPN app, displayed alongside the server name (e.g. PL#81 – DataCamp).

Or even better, add categories for hosting providers, just like cities currently are, so users can quickly find all servers from a specific provider that work best with their ISP.

For example, my ISP performance varies by provider:

    - Excellent with Datacamp Limited (DataPacket)
    - Decent with PV-SL-HOSTED-Warsaw-Network
    - Terrible with M247

Currently, I have to connect to multiple servers and check my IP info to find a provider that works well, which wastes several minutes and is very annoying.

    Mullvad…

  12. Add 'include mode' to the browser extension's Split Tunneling feature

The desktop app has exclude and include modes for split tunneling, allowing you to use it as a blacklist or whitelist respectively.
The browser extension only has the exclude mode.

Given recent changes to the internet, selectively VPNing certain websites would be extremely helpful.

  13. "Pin / Unpin country" feature, will be so helpful!

    VPN UI suggestion:

    🍄

"Pin / Unpin country" feature, will be so helpful!

    I randomly choose 3~6 countries a day.
    All with randomly server.
(because search engine try to mess up my search results)

Country name is list view by name now,
some countries too far away from top. Scroll long.

if click countries ➡️ I can "Pin / Unpin country"
    \ or
if click profile ➡️ I can add "country (with randomly server)"

    😇Always, Love Proton.

  14. "Random" option when creating a profile

When creating or editing a Standard VPN Profile, you select the country and then are given the option of "Fastest" or a given city/server. ProtonVPN used to have the option of to select "Random" here as well, ie a random server from within a specific country, but that seems to have been removed. Please add that option back.

  15. Name IP addresses specified for split tunneling

It would be helpful to be able to name or tag IP addresses that are added to the split tunneling list. Names would help users avoid deleting an address by accident, and easily review the sites that have already been specified.

  16. IP & Domain Filter / Denylist

I would like to have the option to block some IPs or domains like X.com to prevent me from using them.
Simple feature to NetBlock or separate.
    Exactly like Denylist in NextDNS.
I can't set custom DNS when NetShield is enabled.

  17. Auto reconnect to the same server feature after device reboot

Actually using Proton VPN on an Android TV box where the Proton VPN features are very limited.

I usually turn off completely (not standby) my device when not using it and when I turn it back on I always find the VPN disconnected. A feature where the VPN would automatically reconnect to the last used server would be much appreciated and make the user experience smooth. Thanks in advance.

  18. Block App Snooping

Implement a feature that prevents an app from accessing other apps. For example, Google and Facebook apps both keep tabs on what is going on in other apps. Duckduckgo has a VPN that disallows any app from accessing any other app, blocking thousands of attempts per hour.

  20. Make Proton VPN with Google Play and F-Droid have different IDs

Currently, after installing the F-Droid version, Google Play tries to download and install an update for Proton VPN every time it searches for and installs updates for user applications, and it fails. It would be better if Google Play did not see the application installed via F-Droid and did not waste traffic, battery life, and did not annoy the user with notifications that the update installation was unsuccessful, but will be repeated later.
