Disconnect VPN for timed period
My default is to leave ProtonVPN connected. If I disconnect it, its usually for a specific task, like trying to resolve zoom glitches, accessing a site that isn't available with the VPN on, or trying to speed up a large file download. 99% of the time I do not remember to turn ProtonVPN back on after the task is complete, and I discover its off 1/2 - 1 week later. I would love the ability to turn off ProtonVPN for a set time period: 1/6/12/24 hours etc and then have it resume the fastest connection possible.

Please add a pause option. I want to fully convert to the proton VPN. However, with Nord we have an option to pause for 5 minutes, 30 minutes, and 1 hour increments. That helps for us to be able to go to sites that don't operate with the VPN where it will automatically reconnect us. This would really aid in keeping us constantly protected.

NordVPN does this (sorry to name-drop, but I miss the feature a lot). It is unhelpful to have to remember to turn the Proton VPN back on after having had to disable it in order to make some site work. I often only realize it is off hours or days later, which rather defeats the point of having a VPN in the first place. I left Nord because they were getting too expensive, but maybe I need to go back to get full functionality. I hope Proton will implement this fundamental feature.

Switched from a different VPN provider a couple of months ago and this is the feature I miss most.

This is a feature that is important for security. It eliminates the need to remember to reconnect to Proton VPN once you are done doing whatever you were doing that required a brief disconnect from the VPN. It is critical. Surfshark VPN has this feature, and I am consider going back to them because of that. Thanks for listening.

That is a good idea and also maybe you could customize the VPN to change servers ever so often to predetermined servers or random servers for a particular group of countries.. Also please give up some free "proxy servers" too "Private Internet Access" VPN company has them for free why can't we..

This is important because some sites don't like VPN yet we don't want to forget to turn VPN back on afterward.

Agreed. I had NordVPN and used it a lot on iOS and macOS but I'm switching to ProtonVPN (paid). Nord had an option to quickly pause for 5 minutes, 30 minutes, or an hour, which was great for a quick option to stop it. I did build out shortcuts as a work around for now, but it didn't always work or caused issues because it forced the screen to pop up on one option. A quick pause option would be great in addition with the split tunneling option announced for iOS coming soon.

This was one of my most used features when I was a PIA customer. Occasionally, I need to disconnect to test out a broken site, but then I'll forget that I turned it off. A snooze button would help a lot with those situations.

Pause for # duration - for iOS app, preferably integrated with Shortcuts app, just like 1Blocker does. There are other feature requests for various platforms, so you might consider rolling it out together, if that makes sense for your development workflow.

For Proton VPN Android app, currently you are only able to "disconnect" from the VPN connection. Please provide a function to "pause for x mins" from both within the app but more conveniently from the drag down menu from the top of Android screen, where the running instance of the VPN is. NordVPN has this feature, and it is constantly useful for those moments where something you're doing isn't compatible with the VPN, but you want thw safety and convenience of it it turning back on automatically.

There are times when I need to disconnect from the VPN for a short time. Unfortunately, I frequently forget to reconnect and realize I had been operating without a VPN for quite a time.
Other VPNs have a timed pause or disconnect of VPN services feature. That is, you can disconnect for a specified period (e.g. 5 minutes, half hour, etc.) and then the VPN will automatically reconnect without you having to remember to do so. I found this feature quite useful and is one of the main functional features I find missing in Proton VPN.

very critical, it's easy to forget the VPN off after disabling it to solve a specific task.

In addition, please consider an option for snoozing the VPN exclusion of an individual app in Android.

Sometimes on specific sites such as Enterprise Rent-A-Car I need to shut off ProtonVPN so I can log into the site. When I shutoff ProtonVPN sometimes I forget to reconnect it and I'm then not protected. An auto ReConnect would be nice so my VPN doesn't go inadvertently go unconnected for long periods of time!!!!

Why not just use split tunneling feature in a different browser?

I would expand this to also work from the notification on mobile devices, e.g. on Android the notification has a "disconnect" button, and it would be nice with a "snooze for X minutes" option there as well.
