How can we improve Proton Drive?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  1. Proton Drive API

    It would be amazing to have an API (like https://developers.google.com/drive/api/v3/about-sdk) to be able to make scripts that could automate uploading important files to ProtonDrive using a language like Python or similar.

  2. Shared Drive for the company/Family/Org

    These features of the drive are so important to have:

    *shared company Drive (at least for all user under the same account)
    *to have traceability of who has accessed the document or
    an option for it to be viewed only and not downloaded
    perhaps even only allowed to be edited live on the shared drive
    *Option for only print allowed.

  4. Failed Files when uploading. Feature to retry all failed files.

    I uploaded 1000+ files. 39 failed. It is difficult to scroll through and find the failed ones. I suggest being able to sort the upload list by failed files, or a button to retry all failed files

  5. KeePass automatic syncronization with Proton Drive

    For KeePass users, it would be very useful if there would be a plugin, which allows automatic syncronization with Proton Drive. Similar to the plugin of GoogleSync for Keepass

  6. Something like Google Keep

    Since most of us are trying to get away from Google and the likes, I think an app like Google Keep would be a good thing. It could be a stand alone app or a part of Proton Drive in it's own app.

  7. thumbnail photos

    If I save a photo it should appear as a photo not a folder or file icon.
    ie. Photo Previews
    instead of having blank icons it should be a photo or photos of what is in
    each folder like when using iCloud each file has a picture representation so you know what each file is instead of a blank generic file picture.

  8. sync proton drive with other cloud services

    Since more and more people appear to be suddenly locked out of their "regular" cloud storage because their providers are snooping around in their files and decide that they may contain "unlawful" information, it would be an asset to be able to (partly) synchronize such storage with proton. Because the above mentioned locking also seems to happen without warning and/or motivation and/or "appeal" this may cause even more problems than ransomware.....

  9. Import or sync from other online cloud storage services

    I would like to be able to link/hook/connect to services such as: mega.nz, OneDrive, GDrive, or S3 directly from Proton Drive. Giving the ability to import or schedule synchronizing my files from these other services.

  10. Edit and view .txt files in drive

    Would proton drive be better with a built in plain text editor? I think the answer is a resounding yes!

    Plain text documents are the backbone of modern computing. This feature would allow for the quick creation and storage of information like code snippets, sensitive information, journal writing, and much more.

    core features:

    • create new .txt

    • edit new .txt

    • preview/view .txt

    • rename .txt

    • password protect .txt

    eventually:

    • add in line numbers

    • attach file to email

    • group/shared edit .txt file

  11. Make documents and spreadsheets available in real time

    Collaborating in real-time and being able to share and access the most up to date version of the document regardless of who edited has become standard operating procedure for many. One of the many things we take for granted until we don't have it. Is this or something for team sharing and documenting editing in the works?

    I want to use the backup program from Ubuntu Mate but it asks for a server access to the external drive.

  15. ProtonDrive iOS Integration and Google Drive Transfer tool

    two things:
    i’d like to see protondrive be integrated into iOS so when saving files, one can upload through iOS to protondrive like we can with google drive, icloud etc.

    would also like to take everything off of google drive and would like a tool to import-export from google drive to protondrive.

    otherwise, so glad protonpeeps are adding products and functionality. love the tools especially now when privacy is increasingly scare.

  17. Save directly to Proton Drive through LibreOffice

    LibreOffice offers a way to save files remotely by creating a CMIS record which requires an endpoint and user credentials. It would be cool to be able to save directly to Proton Drive from within the application.

  19. Expand files types that can be previewed

    Specifically, I would like to preview Open Office files for text .odt and spreadsheets .ods. It is very helpful to view .pdf.
