1. While in album: option to delete photo from album OR from drive.

   It's much more convenient to select a photo in an album instead of in your complete photo collection.
   So while selecting a photo in an album give te option to delete from album or delete completely.

2. [mobile] Easier selection of multiple images

   Current implementation: Currently, when dealing with albums in Proton Drive on mobile devices, users must manually tap each image to select them and add them to an album. Same applies also when selecting images in other views, regardless if intention is to add them to an album or not.

   Issue: This process can be cumbersome, especially when dealing with a large number of images spread across multiple rows. The lack of a streamlined selection method makes it time-consuming to organize photos efficiently.

   Proposal: It would be beneficial to introduce a more intuitive way to select multiple images. On mobile devices, a gesture-based selection feature such as long presses, sliding, or other, allowing quickly selecting multiples of adjacent images.

4. Photo albums needs love!

   Photo albums currently have exactly zero options for sort customization. Please help!
   The ability to sort by name or date ascending or descending would be greatly appreciated.
   And album groups would be next level awesomeness. For example you could make a group called "Cats", but in it have different albums for each of your cats.

   Sometimes instant backup is inconvenient because:
   I want to delete some photos and videos in a moment (deleting them on my phone and then on the cloud is imprecise and time-consuming)
   I want to save battery power when I don't have anywhere to charge my phone right away.

6. Speed Improvements For Photos

   The Photos Feature is pretty cool. I don't do much with my photos, and I'm so close to just switching to it as my primary photos app (Just use it as a backup right now). However, the very slow speed of the photos loading when scrolling through is just unusable. I don't know what exactly causes it to be slow, but my guess would be the encryption. Perhaps use a faster standard like Ente does. Thank you for your time!

   Für Alben einen Link zum Teilen generieren, der auch über Messanger verteilt werden kann. Die Einzeleinladung per Mail ist nicht zufriedenstellend. Zusätzlich sollten die Rollen (Betrachter und Bearbeiter) genauer definiert werden. Kann der Betrachter herunterladen?

9. Enable option to untar/decompress tar[.gz] archives

   Uploading a lot of files is not efficient. At least in my experience, it might take days to upload 10K+ small files distributed in multiple directories.

   Would it be possible to allow the user to decompress/untar uploaded single/multiple .tar archives ? This might help uploading data faster (multiple files in a tar archive). Implied is I guess an increased file size limit.

10. Proton Drive meets Git

    HiDrive allows turning folders into Git repositories, which is very helpful. It would be great to see a similar feature in Proton Drive — the ability to initialise Git repositories inside folders, with basic access via HTTPS/SSH. This would make Proton Drive even more useful for developers and advanced users.

    To keep it short, because my previous idea was just deleted:
    Please make "always available on this device" the default, or at least configurable, so that I don't have to select "always keep on this device" for every new file on my local system (to make the light green check mark a dark green one).

    (but why has my previous idea been deleted without any notion while it was a serious effort from my side???)

12. Would love a .gitignore-like feature for file sync

    I’d love to have a gitignore-style ignore file when syncing a folder from a computer. It would make it easy to exclude certain files or subfolders from being synced useful in cases like development folders where some content (temporary files) doesn’t need to be uploaded.

    I'm considering moving away from GitHub for my personal projects I’d prefer not to store them there anymore. But right now, I don’t have a better solution that keeps everything in sync while letting me exclude unnecessary files. That’s why a feature like this would really help.

    Apologies if this isn’t in line with the intended direction or if such a request already exists. I haven’t seen it, but thought I’d share the idea just in case.

13. Download progress and cancelation

    Hi.

    Can we have some notification for downloading files on mobile app (android)?
    Like in status bar to see how much is already done and also option to cancel download.

    Recently i try to get file from drive and it was over 500mb. I get note "download started" in app but i had no idea how fast or how it progress. After few minutes i still had no file in phone and every time i open app it say "download started". Cant even cancel it and had to force quit app.

15. Add a Cheaper/Smaller plan

    Add a cheaper and smaller plan for proton Drive for people that do not need as much space but want to pay for the service to help with the privacy mission. Maybe a dollar a month for 30GB or 50GB to compete with a similar option that iCloud offers.

16. Make Photos visible as a top-level folder in My files

    This might be a quick functionality win for a relatively small amount of coding...

    From an Android perspective...

    (a) Make the photos (files) created and managed by the "Photos" section of Drive visible as a special top level sub-folder of the "My Files" area.

    (b) In the "My Files" view enable copying/moving between "Photos" and "My Files".

    This keeps these actions in the cloud and allows photos uploaded to Drive "My Files" as files (ie, on android, "shared" with Drive from another app), to be later moved to "Photos". No time take downloading, uploading etc.

17. Render Photo Captions/Titles from the Photo's metatdata

    (a) When viewing the photo gallery, optionally, display the photo's caption/title.

    This would have to be done carefully as there are many candidate places in a photo that a "caption" of sorts is stored: jpeg caption, jpeg title, etc..

    (b) The ability to edit the "caption" metadata and then modify the source file.

    This means that all the effort that goes into captioning photos would not be lost as the edits would "stick" with the photo. If completed, this would make Proton Photos better than any other cloud Photo applications - as all the other store the caption away fro the photo and it gets lost when you want to later download the photo which locks you into that platform forever. So much so, that people often don't bother with captions.

    (Because of the encryption at rest, This may have to be done by the client app and the modified file then re-uploaded.)

18. Expand Proton Drive Search to Include Trash, PCs, and Mobile Devices

    As a Visionary Plan user, I use Proton Drive a lot for storing and managing my files. It would be really helpful if the search feature could be expanded to include:

    Trash Folder: Right now, finding deleted files in the Trash is hard because there's no search. Adding search here would make it much easier to recover lost files quickly.
    Files on My PCs and Mobile Devices: Currently, search only works for files inside Proton Drive. If it could also search files on my linked devices, it would save me a lot of time and make managing my files much smoother.
    This change would make Proton Drive even better and more convenient, especially for users who handle lots of files across different devices. Thanks for considering this idea!

19. Fix the Photos Sort Order Bug

    (NB Photos in browser: android app seems to sort properly.)

    I have many photos, mainly jpegs, that pre-date the digital revolution. I have scanned/re-photographed these old photos either from negative or print and have fixed up the "date taken" to correspond with when the original photo was taken. For people with full family collections this is probably not unusual.

    I am trying my best to migrate my photo library to Proton, but the its the little things that are annoying: the main photos sort by reverse date taken, UNTIL you get to about 1970 (I have tested this) - older photos then start appearing at the top - presumably by date created/modified?

    Can you please fix this bug?

    It must be a bug (or weird "expected" behavior) - a date is a date if you are using it for sort you should honor it no matter what.

    Please don't respond to this with some album functionality - it's not the same.

    PS: Annoyingly, Google Photos handles this properly - but then they can mine my data.
