Partner with OnlyOffice or LibreOffice to completely replace Google Ecosystem
Instead of making Proton Docs, Slides, etc. which take forever to make, just partner with a privacy based office suite like OnlyOffice to make everything easier.

Add an option to create a table of contents in Proton Docs
Please add an option to create a table of contents (a summary) in Proton Docs.
A table of contents is very useful for presenting a summary of the various elements, such as a report or specification.
Thank you Proton for your work.

Organize pictures with folders or tags
So I just don't understand how we ended up without any way to organize the photo section of proton drive? I mean it's only organized by date essentially as close as I can tell.
The problem comes when comparing this to Google photos which I currently pay for and have significant data there, is they allow me to take the files and put keywords in the files under the details area.
Google also allows me to make folders of specific photos, so they can be organized. I'm just wondering if we can't put some folders in proton drive / photos…

Add a Shared Spreadsheet (like MS Excel) to Proton Drive
It's great that you guys added a version of Word to Proton Drive, but we also really need a version of Excel. If you could make it a shared version (where more than one person can work in it/edit it at the same time) that would be even better! Please add this.

Android Proton Drive "Open With"
If I am navigating my documents on the Proton Drive Android app, I can open text and pdf documents, but word documents and spreadsheets just return an icon. I would like an "Open With" dialogue to select an application on my phone to open the document with (this is similar to Google Drive and Filen).

View and edit docs without an account
It would be cool if anyone with a shareable link could view and edit the document, similar to google docs for example.
This would greatly lower the barrier for me to use it regularly, as I could share it when planning events or doing a group project with people that don't have proton accounts.
I genuinely believe docs is a way better experience to use for most things I would usually use word/google/etc. for, and this would allow even more people to get familiar with it.

Sort Albums
Allow us to sort photo albums by the date of the photos or at least by the album title, or filter them. Being stuck with the oldest created album first is not a great user experience at all.

Proton Integrating existing FOSS Software (LibreOffice and others)
Proton has started making Proton Docs and that ecosystem which is great but the FOSS world already has the likes of LibreOffice and others. Integrating them into Proton would show Proton cares about FOSS but also gives Proton Users the option to use other open-source software right into Proton's Web UI.
Adding the option to open docs files in a web LibreOffice Editor would be amazing. I think Proton can and should build their own Docs and etc ecosystem but they should also integrate others that are FOSS, ethical and privacy minded.12 votes -
Citation Managers in Proton Docs
Along with improvements to things like line spacing and line numbering pointed out by other users, an essential feature for academic purposes is the ability to use reference managers like Zotero, Mendeley, etc.

Option to keep a local copy of synced Proton Drive files on computer ("file mirroring" rather than "file streaming")
On MacOS, Proton Drive 'streams' files: there is no local copy, but files can be searched and downloaded on request.
With 'mirroring', there is also a local copy on your hard drive. This is for instance useful for:
- Backing up Proton Drive files locally
- Accessing files if there's no internet connection
Google Drive offers you to choose between 'streaming' and 'mirroring' for every folder in your Drive. That would help getting the best of both worlds.

Move backed up photos to a folder
Right now, photos backed up from a phone can't be moved around like normal files and must remain in the Photos tab.
It would be great to treat photos like normal files and be able to sort them into different drive folders once they got backed up.
Right now the only way to do that is to upload your photos folder manually.

Proton Drive Docs: collapsible headings (like Google Docs)
Collapsible/expandable headings like Google Docs has: by clicking on a small "arrow down" icon next to a heading, all content under that heading collapses (disappears) and reappears by clicking again on the arrow (which now has become an "arrow right"). Of course, when the content disappears, the remaining (still visible) doc content below that heading section moves up (to occupy the space of the disappeared content).
This allows to hide sections (e.g. on top) that might not be relevant (to the user) but can still occupy a lot of space and force the user to scroll down (where he/she might…5 votes
