Unlimited chat with the free version
It would be very nice if there’s not restrictions on how many messages you can send with the free version (like every other major chat bot app)

Improving response quality and reducing bias
As it is, Lumo doesn't work very well.
It hallucinates facts more often than other modern models that also don't access the web. When asked about privacy-related questions, it almost always promotes Proton's services (including ones that don't exist such as "Proton Chat"). I understand that there is an incentive to promote the company's own services, but most people interested in a privacy-respecting LLM, and especially those willing to pay, don't want it to act as a shill for Proton.

Accept all text files, independently of their extension name.
Lumo is able to read and understand many text-based files (LaTeX, json, python, etc...). However, only .txt files can be uploaded (files without .txt extension name are refused). It would be nice to accept a larger set of file, as Lumo is able to read them once renamed with a .txt. Lumo shall be able to recognize them correctly, without enforcing in the chat was format is intended to be the submitted file.

"Terse" mode or "conversational" mode
I often don't need 3-page instructions and checklists on the topic I've asked a question about. For example, it recently gave me instructions on how to set up an email. It can be a bit overwhelming and difficult to go back to important information in the conversation.

Allow pasting underscores
I want to paste a regex
.*_([^_]+_[^_]+)$into chat. As soon as I paste, the underscores are removed and my text is converted to italic. I am unable to create a fenced code block with triple backticks. If I create a code block with single backticks and then paste my regex inside, it breaks the code block in half and inserts non-code text.- If the chat box is going to magically remove characters, CTRL+Z should put them back
- I should be able to create a code block, and paste text inside that code block without any magic

Lumo - Lessed censored on the cybersecurity themes and subjects
I'm using Lumo while working in cybersecurity (blue/red team, sometimes in challenges and CTFs)
Right now, a lot of the time Lumo won’t answer questions that could be useful for us because the system assumes the info might be used maliciously. I get the intention behind that safeguard, but it ends up being a real pain when we’re trying to do legitimate security research, hardening, or authorized testing.
As the saying goes, “knowledge is power.” When that knowledge is unnecessarily censored, it slows down our ability to protect systems and to understand threats.

Lumo on Old Phone
I’m unable to activate dark mode on the Lumo Android app (running on Android 8/Nokia 8); the “Appearance” setting is missing. Even after enabling “Force dark mode” via Developer Options, the app stays bright and the input bar floats in the middle of the screen instead of anchoring to the bottom. It would be great if Lumo provided a functional dark‑mode toggle and proper UI layout for older Android versions, or at least offered a clear fallback/web‑app solution for those devices.

Integrate with Windsurf
Have Lumo be an available Model via Windsurf like Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.
I've found Lumo to be very good with coding example and questions. Having Lumo be able to directly see and edit the code files would be a huge win.6 votes -
allow copying history conversation into the projects that we create.
currently there isn't an option to copy old chats into new projects. why? this is quite disturbing and prevent us from organizing our old conversations.

"Voluntarily disclose" some chat with Lumo to help training
One of the disadvantages Lumo faces compared to its rivals is the shortage of training data. Why not offer Lumo users (both free and paid) the option to allow some of their chats to be used for training? For example, add a button at the beginning or end of each chat asking: "Do you want to donate this chat to help train Lumo?"
To encourage participation, Proton could offer a small reward for every chat donated—like a few minutes of premium usage or temporary access to advanced features.
Importantly, all donated chats would be stripped of any user-identifying information before…

Implement TEE-Based Confidential Computing for Lumo Inference
Feature Request: Implement TEE-Based Confidential Computing for Lumo Inference
SummaryLumo's current security model does not protect user prompts during inference — the window when plaintext is most exposed and most exploitable. This is not a theoretical concern; it is a documented architectural gap with a proven, production-ready solution that a direct competitor is already shipping.
The ProblemLumo's security model blog post dismisses inference-time privacy by framing the only alternative as homomorphic encryption (HE), correctly noting it is impractically slow. However, this framing is a false dichotomy.
As Proton's own documentation acknowledges:

Implement Bias Mitigation for Chinese Open-Weight Models (Qwen, Kimi K2)
As noted in Lumo's Privacy Documentation, the system currently routes queries to several open-weight models, including Qwen and Kimi K2. While utilizing these models supports cost-efficiency and open-source diversity, research (e.g., NDSS 2026, "S1761") indicates they contain significant internal censorship and narrative engineering aligned with authoritarian state interests.
Proton’s core mission is to champion digital rights, encryption, and freedom against state surveillance. However, deploying models with embedded propaganda or censorship mechanisms creates a contradiction:
- Cognitive Risk: Users may receive subtly altered information or suppressed viewpoints on sensitive geopolitical topics (e.g., HK, Taiwan, human rights).
- Value Misalignment: This conflicts with Proton's…

Calendar - Make today stand out a bit more
I use the calendar in month view and sometime find myself scanning for todays date. In this view with many events being displayed the simple ring round the date doesn't really jump out.
My old google calendar (which I'm trying to get away from) has today inverted which I find much more visible. Looking at it now, it is a solid blue circle with white text, I personally find it very easy to find.
I'd just like today highlighted a little more strongly than it is now please.5 votes -

Ease Navigation through a Chat: Chat Outline
At the moment, I am finding it difficult to navigate through the information in a chat when it has several questions.
The biggest problem I have is finding a specific question again in the chat, because my questions are much shorter than Lumos's answers. So, when I want to scroll back to a particular question, it takes me a long time to read through the chat.
The same thing happens when I'm looking for a specific part of an answer. First, I have to find the answer, and then the relevant section. This is time-consuming and mentally exhausting.

Add ability to think
It would be nice to have a "Think" feature like ChatGPT. Doesn't have to be as complete, just letting the model iterate on the solution it is going to give would be nice
