   Lumo 2.0 intermittently switches entire responses to Chinese during English-language conversations. This is not isolated — multiple users have reported the same behavior across Reddit (r/lumo, r/ProtonMail) with the issue persisting since at least Lumo 1.1 through the current 2.0 release.

   Reproduction Pattern:

   Conversation language: English (exclusively)
   Trigger: Appears to occur most frequently during responses containing dense structured data (comparison tables, pricing breakdowns, URLs, multi-section formatting)
   Context usage: Both occurrences happened at high context usage (~73%)
   Frequency: Twice within three consecutive prompts in a single session
   

   Observed Behavior:

   Response output switches entirely to Chinese — not individual characters, but full translated content
   In one instance, the model also hallucinated a capability reference (TTS/STT) that does not exist — suggesting the language switch coincided with a broader coherence failure
   The content itself appears accurate — just rendered in the wrong language
   Conversation topic headers have also been reported switching to Chinese characters, making threads unsearchable

When complex/structured responses are routed to a GLM-based model, it appears to default to Chinese token generation under certain conditions — particularly during high token-density outputs or elevated context usage.

   This is consistent with known language-mixing issues documented in other Chinese-developed models (e.g., DeepSeek R1, which addressed this in their own research paper).

   Impact:

   Breaks conversation flow entirely
   Makes affected responses unusable without translation
   Erodes trust in Lumo's reliability for professional/business use
   Has persisted across multiple versions (1.1 → 2.0) without acknowledged fix

   Would it be possible to have a Proton Album app. This would not leak data, and clean images of any data that could give details of user. It would be a secure album that would not allow access to any data user unless implicitly requested. This should then disallow current proposals to scan every single photo by EU/UK gvnmts

6. Restore Functional PDF Download via Print in Proton Drive

   Until recently, Proton Drive allowed users to download files as PDFs using the Print → Save as PDF feature, which worked flawlessly. However, a few days ago, this functionality broke: the page formatting is now incorrect, and the generated PDFs are unusable. This is clearly a regression caused by a recent change.

   I reported this issue to Proton support (request #4947856) as a paying user. The response was unsatisfactory:

   I received a generic "we’ll fix it eventually" reply, followed by an immediate request to rate the support.

   When I pointed out that the issue wasn’t even reviewed, the support representative suggested I download the file as a PDF - the exact action I reported as broken. This demonstrates a troubling lack of familiarity with the product they are supposed to support.

   This is not a feature request - it’s a request to fix a broken, previously working functionality. Please prioritize restoring the correct PDF download behavior, as it is essential for many users

   Some competitors help users to avoid being billed after they have become incapacitated or died - which can give relatives and executors huge problems - by allowing users to buy credits which they can then use to pay for services by buying a subscription or on other ways. User can top up credits whenever they like but when the credits run out the services are no longer provided and crucially BILLING AUTOMATICALLY STOPS. There is no risk of the user waking from a coma to face unexpected bills or executors not being aware of an ongoing subscription or being faced with mountains of paperwork to avoid the estate being held liable for unused services. 9. Make Proton a complete digital life assistant

   Hello Proton team,

   I am writing with a product suggestion prompted by a conversation I had with Lumo 2.0.

   Lumo told me that it can already work with Proton Calendar, discuss and prioritise tasks and habits, use Projects and persistent context, and read files supplied from Proton Drive. However, it cannot write changes back to a structured file or maintain a durable task database in Proton Drive.

   This means Proton appears to be extremely close to offering something that does not currently exist as a complete privacy-first product: a genuine personal digital assistant whose AI, calendar, tasks, files and long-term structured state all live within one trusted ecosystem.

   I have been building a local macOS version of this myself. It uses:

   • an AI conversation interface for natural-language intake and planning;
   • an MCP server that lets the AI read and write calendar events and reminders;
   • a structured SQLite database containing tasks, intentions, goals, habits, tags, priorities and relationships;
   • synchronisation between the database and the calendar/reminder applications;
   • stable identifiers so every item can be updated safely;
   • confirmation and readback checks for destructive or important actions.

   A user can say anything that occurs to them, and the assistant can decide with them whether it should become:

   • a specific calendar event;
   • a concrete task or reminder;
   • an intention that is not yet actionable;
   • a goal;
   • a habit to build, maintain or reduce;
   • a note or idea to preserve;
   • something requiring clarification.

   The assistant can then see the full operational picture, identify related items through tags and relationships, help prioritise them, suggest habit stacking, and avoid filling the calendar or reminders with vague aspirations.

   Proton already has most of the required components:

   • Lumo;
   • Proton Calendar;
   • Proton Drive;
   • Proton Docs and Sheets;
   • Projects and personalised Lumo configurations;
   • encrypted synchronisation and storage;
   • a privacy model suited to highly personal life-management information.

   The major additions I would suggest are:

   1. A Proton Tasks or Reminders product

   It should support lists, tags, priorities, due dates, recurring tasks, completion history, notes and notifications. Lumo should have permission-controlled read, create, edit, complete and delete access.

   1. Writable structured storage for Lumo

   Lumo should be able to read and write an encrypted structured store rather than merely analyse a temporarily attached file. This could initially be:

   • a Proton Sheet;
   • a structured Proton Drive file;
   • a dedicated encrypted personal-assistant database;
   • or a new Proton data object designed for tasks, goals, habits and notes.

   Users should be able to export the data in open formats such as CSV, JSON or SQLite.

   1. Bidirectional integration across the Proton suite

   Lumo should be able to read current and past Calendar events and Tasks, maintain a structured overview, and write confirmed changes back to the appropriate product.

   The system should preserve distinctions between:

   • operational calendar and task state;
   • broader goals and intentions;
   • habits;
   • internal tags and relationships that do not need to clutter visible calendar or task entries.

   1. A safe action model

   Before deletions, cancellations or large changes, Lumo should show the exact affected objects and request confirmation. After writing, it should read the result back and report whether the operation was actually successful.

   1. Either a dedicated “Lumo Assistant” or integrated assistant mode

   A dedicated Lumo Assistant could have a focused interface, clearly scoped permissions and predictable tools for Calendar, Tasks and structured storage.

   Alternatively, ordinary Lumo could expose these capabilities whenever the user enables an “Assistant” mode or grants the necessary product permissions. This would avoid fragmenting users between two AI products.

   My preference would be one Lumo product with an optional assistant mode, while keeping the action permissions explicit and reversible.

   1. Essential chat-interface features

   Lumo should also have the standard interaction controls expected from a modern AI assistant:

   • speech-to-text in the message box;
   • text-to-speech for Lumo’s answers;
   • copy buttons for both Lumo responses and the user’s own prompts;
   • reliable export of individual conversations and Projects.

   This would be particularly valuable for users with ADHD, executive-function difficulties, disabilities, complicated schedules, or simply many ideas and obligations. Privacy is especially important for such a system because it may contain health information, personal plans, finances, relationships and daily behavioural patterns.

   I would genuinely prefer to build my personal digital-assistant workflow entirely inside Proton rather than assembling it locally from an AI interface, an MCP server, Apple applications and a separate database. I would switch more of my digital life to Proton and pay for Proton Unlimited – and an appropriate Lumo tier if required – if Proton made this possible.

   Proton is unusually well positioned to create the first broadly accessible, privacy-first digital-assistant ecosystem. The individual products already exist. The missing step is to connect them through safe, writable, permission-controlled AI actions and add a proper task/reminder layer.

   Please pass this suggestion to the Lumo, Calendar, Drive and product-strategy teams.

    I want the option to permanently and cryptographically split my Proton Pass credentials and identity from the rest of the Proton ecosystem,

    So that even if my primary Proton account (Mail/Calendar) is fully compromised, or if its emergency recovery credentials and passphrases are abused, my Proton Pass vault remains entirely isolated, uncompromised, and inaccessible to the attacker.

    1. Background & Strategic Rationale

    Currently, the Proton ecosystem operates on a unified identity provider (Single Sign-On) and account recovery framework. While this provides convenience, it introduces a critical single point of failure (SPOF).

    Proton currently offers local locks or secondary password options for Proton Pass, but these are ultimately bound to the same root account identity. If an attacker gains full administrative control over the primary Proton account, they can abuse emergency user credentials, recovery keys, or primary passphrase reset flows. Because the underlying identity is shared, these recovery mechanisms can bypass or override the secondary safeguards, exposing the user’s entire Proton Pass vault.

    To achieve true zero-trust isolation, high-security users need the ability to execute a permanent credential split. This ensures that Proton Pass acts as a completely independent cryptographic entity with its own distinct identity, authentication database, and recovery lifecycle—while still preserving the commercial value of their unified subscription.

    1. Core Architectural Approach: Permanent Separation

    Rather than relying on a secondary application-level password that sits on top of a shared account, Proton should implement a backend-enforced, permanent decoupling of the identity database for Proton Pass.

This verifies that "Credentials B" is entitled to the premium Proton Pass features paid for by "Credentials A," without sharing any authentication or recovery pathways.

    No Recovery Overlap: The emergency recovery channels (recovery email, phone, recovery phrase, or PEM keys) for the primary Mail account have zero authority over the Proton Pass account.

12. Login from proton.me AND protonmail.com/ch

    After what happened to Telegram with the t.me domain, will Proton change any strategy? For instance, allowing logins from proton.me and protonmail.ch/com. A redirect can be cached by the browser. Maybe the other domains could have an autodetect system and not redirect to proton.me if it's censored or doesn't work. That could be easily achieved with some extra subdomains and could help fight some light forms of censorship.

13. available booking slots from Appointment Scheduling should be visible

    Currently, available booking slots from Appointment Scheduling don't appear
    as visible blocks in my calendar view. I can only see confirmed bookings.

    Feature request:
    Show available booking slots as light-colored blocks vs. darker colors for
    confirmed bookings. This provides instant visual clarity on my availability.

    Why this matters:
    - Quick overview of potential booking windows
    - Better calendar planning without manual workarounds
    
    - Prevents confusion between "open" and "booked" time

    Workaround exists (separate calendars) but all events show as "busy"
    since Proton Calendar lacks Free/Busy status per event.

15. Please make Proton Meet integrate with Cal.com as an option for hosting meetings

    I currently use Cal.com for scheduling multiple types of appointments that clients pre-pay for with Cal.com's integrated payment processing. There are multiple different meeting platforms that can be integrated to host the virtual meetings, including Zoom or Google Meet, but I would prefer to use something secure like Proton Meet.

    Proton Calendar’s scheduling and booking page cannot accommodate the robust multiple types of booking at multiple different prices and durations, and possibly cannot be changed to handle payment processing due to encryption/security standards…so in lieu of this, could Proton Meet simply be available to integrate with Cal.com? This would allow meetings to be confirmed by email with a link to the Proton Meet meeting instead of having to manually send separate and conflicting information and create confusion about which link/virtual meeting host is preferred.

18. Easy application update (in Linux)

    I use a script to update Proton Pass. I would like to do the same with other products. I need the equivalent of this file https://proton.me/download/PassDesktop/linux/x64/version.json for other products.

    Does it exist? Where are they for the other products? (don't you love bash scripts?) I just realized I retrieve the version file more than once. I will fix that if you answer my question.

19. Offer Onion Routing in the Apps

    Proton needs to add a feature to route its services directly to its onion service in the apps (mobile/desktop). This isn’t a new feature by any metric and it’s actually quite underrated among other privacy oriented apps.

    It shouldn’t have to be explained, but Tor itself is a superior circumvention tool to online censorship worldwide. Proton already offers its own onion services on web for people who NEED it. The only caveat is this purpose is strictly limited to the browser and not where it could be an option within the apps to route directly to an onion site for extra security (since privacy is guaranteed over the Tor network connected to an onion service).

    Many of the current circumvention tools and tactics from Proton are helpful but they aren’t foolproof. Alternative routing breaks apart if an admin on the network catches the proton domain calling to google/quad9/cloudflare/aws since it’s bundled there in the DNS queries. The next logical step is to go with Proton VPN. Duh, right? If Proton VPN can be blocked on a network, not even Stealth can help. Stealth is very hit or miss, and Proton is reluctant to try anything other VPNs successfully implemented to bypass VPN restrictions. Instead of really considering it, they wrote a blog post to talk down on it: https://protonvpn.com/support/socks5

    So if everything is blocked on an aggressive network, what can you really do? Connect to Tor. It’s one of the best tools widely available to everyone and often the one that people could count their lives on. You could go ahead and say you can connect to Proton now without onion routing and just have Tor enabled, and you’re right that you can. You just gotta consider that it doesn’t carry the same benefits you get from a proper onion service. The kind that seems minimal but really could save a life.     This is a long writeup because I believe this HAS to be implemented and can’t be overlooked. A lot of posts here are people misunderstanding Proton and just posting grievances about bugs they found. I wrote this in hopes to get more attention to the matter.

20. Add a Regional Digital Services & Resource Hub to Proton Docs

    Proton already offers excellent documentation, but it could be even more useful by providing a community-maintained section with links to trusted regional digital services and official resources.

    Many users rely on Proton Mail, Drive, or VPN while accessing government portals, education platforms, and public services in different countries. A curated resource hub (or community wiki) could help users discover reliable information without needing to search across multiple websites.

    For example, while helping users in Morocco, I found that guides such as https://massarservicema.net/ make it easier to understand the Massar Service portal and common account-related tasks. Similar community-recommended resources for other regions could improve the overall user experience while keeping the focus on privacy and accessibility.

    This could be an optional community feature where users suggest helpful, non-commercial resources that moderators review before they are listed. It would make Proton more useful for international users without affecting the core products.
