1. Improve Proton Meet for interactive language instruction

   To use Proton Meet for interactive language instruction, it would be very helpful to enable the teacher to load an image and share the screen. This image could be a template of language exercises. Both the teacher and the student should then be able to annotate the text in the image, either freehand or by typing into a text box. Saving the screen as an image for later reference by the teacher and student would also be very useful. These are features that are possible in Zoom; if Proton Meet provided them, you could publicize its use for this kind of interactive teaching.

2. Search Email with Filter Tags

   Kagi has a great feature where you can apply a tag to a search query (!year would limit results to the last year). While I don't think PM needs to have all of the customization, it would be nice to quickly and easily add filters while inputting the search text.

   Gmail has some of this with the colon directives but they're clunky.

   Examples:
   - time ranges (!month, !year, etc)
   - Search only in subject (!subject)
   - Search in all mail (including spam and deleted) (!all)
   - Search for attachments (!file)
   - Search for photos (!photo)
   etc etc

3. A Unified Proton Desktop App with Lumo at the Center

   A Unified Proton Desktop App with Lumo at the Center

   I would love to see Proton eventually move toward a single, unified Proton desktop application that brings the entire Proton ecosystem together in one interface, with Lumo as a persistent, context-aware AI assistant.

   Instead of having separate desktop apps or browser tabs for Mail, Drive, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Pass, VPN, etc., the user could have one central Proton application.

   Proposed interface

   The app could have a left sidebar containing all Proton services:

   • Lumo
   • Mail
   • Calendar
   • Drive
   • Docs
   • Sheets
   • Slides
   • Pass
   • VPN
   • Account / Settings
   • Other Proton services

   The currently selected service would open in the main area.

   On the right side, Lumo would remain available as a collapsible sidebar.

   For example:

   Drive → full Drive interface in the center + Lumo sidebar on the right.

   Sheets → full Sheets interface in the center + Lumo sidebar on the right.

   Mail → full Mail interface in the center + Lumo sidebar on the right.

   The user could expand or collapse Lumo whenever needed.

   Lumo should understand the current context

   This would become much more powerful if Lumo could, with explicit user permission, work with the service currently being used.

   For example:

   “Summarize this email and create a reply draft.”

   “Analyze this spreadsheet and show me the most important trends.”

   “Turn these notes into a structured document.”

   “Create a presentation from this document.”

   “Find the relevant files in my Drive and summarize them.”

   Eventually, Lumo should also be able to work across Proton services:

   “Take the information from this email, create a Calendar event, and save the relevant attachment to my Drive.”

   Every action should be permission-based and opt-in, with users being able to control what Lumo can read or modify in each Proton service. Sensitive actions such as sending emails, deleting files, or modifying important data should require explicit confirmation.

   Why I think this would be extremely valuable

   Lumo currently has a lot of potential, but simply having another AI chat interface is not enough to compete with the larger AI platforms.

   Proton has something much more interesting: an entire privacy-focused ecosystem.

   Instead of trying to compete only on model intelligence, Lumo could become the private AI layer connecting the entire Proton ecosystem.

   The goal would be something similar to the integrated AI experience in Google Workspace, but with Proton's privacy and security principles:

   One Proton app → all Proton services → one persistent Lumo assistant → user-controlled permissions.

   I believe this could make Lumo dramatically more useful for everyday productivity and would give Proton a very strong differentiator compared with standalone AI assistants.

   I would especially love to see this become the long-term direction of the Lumo desktop app.

4. Proton Docs: A Toggle Setting for How Comments and Suggestions are Displayed (or a Return to the Old System of Displaying Comments)

   Currently, comments and suggestions in a document are always displayed (with its full text content) to the right of the document. The only way to hide them is to permanently delete or resolve them. In scenarios where there are a few comments that are right next to each other (e.g. three phrases in one paragraph each with a separate comment) that all have long comments attached to it, the comments get visually stacked on top of each other, making it look like the third comment, to use the example, is no longer attached to the original paragraph it actually refers to.

   This problem is compounded when there are many other comments underneath that. Sometimes, those stacked comments also force other comments after that to be lower than where they should be at, making comments look messy without individually clicking each comment to see where in the document they are attached to.

   The previous version of the display system for comments and suggestions is my preferred solution to this issue where instead of comments/suggestions being fully displayed constantly in a separate section that takes up a whole column to the right of the document, each comment and suggestion is instead displayed as a single small button that takes up less visual space off in the margins of the document and clicking those buttons each individually display the comment/suggestion in its full text (and any replies attached to it) as a sort of floating window (like when using absolute positioning in CSS).

   Additionally, if anyone prefers the current way that comments and suggestions are visually set up, Proton can instead implement a setting in the document that toggles between different ways of displaying comments: the current way, the older previous way, and a total hide setting (to keep a document visually clean). This third setting that I am suggesting can help writers that are affected by visual clutter to maintain focus when writing. That's actually what I initially loved about Proton Docs is how clean everything looks and the lack of visual clutter compared to other similar web apps—it helps me write—but the way comments are displayed now really affects me when writing cause every little opinion and side note is just exploding in my face with how it's currently set up. It's a little too distracting when writing.

   [ALSO, ON A MORE AESTHETIC, LESS IMPORTANT NOTE]: When using an internet browser whose window size is not fully maximized, this feature of comments being permanently displayed in a separate section to the right of the document makes the whole document not centered along the horizontal axis. Not really super important as this part of the issue is a purely aesthetic and not functional one.

5. Update Mac OS Proton Mail app Please

   Please allow paid users to have up to 2 free email accounts added to proton mail app on Mac.

   It's allowed on ios app, but the macos app is useless to me without the other 2 free accounts. So I won't be using it.

   Totally happy with Proton in every way except this issue. Please consider revising!!!

7. photos stay on same page after moving photos to album

   A more efficient way to label photos.

   Current state: Select photos from All album --> Add to Album --> Redirect to label album --> Click Back to All album --> Scroll down to label remaining photos

   These systems can now ' suggest ' a previous folder to move messages and files into from our history and the contents of the subject lines and / or the previous file names used.

   This would save a lot of very precious time and allow the users to get more use of the systems resources.

9. Mail Plus (Plus)

   I think something is needed between Mail Plus and Unlimited. Proton offers to many features that I don't use for example while I still love the core concept.

   I would love Mail Plus but need 3 custom domains. But nothing else that Unlimited offers. The constant upselling and adds brought me to Unlimited 2 years ago but i cannot excuse the price for me. I simply don't use anything else then Mail. I also think that the constant upselling really overshadows the core idea of privacy as I feel more and more pushed towards buying stuff I didn't create an account for in the first place.

   TLDR:

   Adjust Mail plus or make optional addons for small fee i.e. extra domain 50cents extra or so.

10. One Main App Called 'Proton' in Which You Can Manage All Products Just Like The Webpage.

    It would likely be technically and security-wise cumbersome to implement on mobile devices; however, the applications can still be installed as standalone apps (via this "hub") just don't create shortcuts for the individual applications by default; instead, create one called "Proton."

    Apps are sandboxed individually at the OS level, but the hub manages discovery, download, and updates.

    *One "Proton" icon opens the hub, which routes to active services

    *Users can opt to create shortcuts for installed apps after download

    *Show each app's permission requests before installation

    *Keep per app login optional/open to separate authentication sessions per service

11. Proton Health / Proton Diet

    Just an idea, but it would be amazing to see some sort of 'Proton Health' or a 'Proton Diet' app/feature.

    Recently I've been looking for a half decent calorie tracker app that isn't an absurd monthly subscription as well as one that is also privacy oriented - or at least doesn't sell my data to 3rd parties to better advertise to me.
    I'm sure the infrastructure for this kind of stuff would require a ton of work, but there's always room for possibilities in the future :)

    I would love to see a Proton messaging app that supports SMS, MMS, and RCS so I can get rid of Google Messages. Especially now that Samsung Messages is gone (I didn't really trust it either).

    I already use signal, but TOO many people, companies, etc. do not.

    when selected several cells autosum the numbers on it, this feature is present on Google Sheets and extremely effective for mental calculations, currently you need to select and put the formula in place even if you just need for references

15. warning on document size before lock

    Current behavior:
    -A Proton Doc file that is >25Mb automatically put it self in Read only mode

    Issues:
    -There is no warning or public information about this limitation
    -Copy document, clone it, download in any type file available is not a solution since the comments and other special format is lost.
    -A lot of time is wasted because no warning is made

    Expected behavior:
    -Remove that limitation
    -at least make a warning in the document before it happend, so the users can take actions.

16. Subject prefix/suffix when forwarding Mails

    When forwarding mails with Proton Mail, I'd like to prefix the "subject" field. I'd be using this to give the mails a label/tag. Optionally also a suffix, but i wouldnt really need that.

17. Custom bookmarks in sheets, jumping to a certain line.

    A way to bookmark a line in sheets so i jump to the correct line immediately.

    Google docs has a function to add a text to the link, like: docs.proton.me/sheet?=Line200 To jump to line 200 when i click the link.

    This makes it easier when using sheets daily, right now i have to scroll 200 lines in several docs.

    a user that creates or changes a document in a shared-by-another-user folder should be able to create a link to that document for the purpose of pointing other users of the shared folder to that document

19. Grouping by subject doesn't group well for purchase notifications

    Currently, the email client either groups by subjects (and maybe the headers), or no grouping at all. I need my messages threaded (grouped), but it's problematic for purchase notifications. Although they're different conversations as each purchase is independent, they get grouped together because they share the same subject in ProtonMail.

    We should have a third option to thread (or group) by the email message headers: in-reply-to and references.

    A physical cell phone made ethically with ProtonOS- NOT a version of Android with the Proton name slapped onto it. Lead the way with the duopoly alternative!

    tldr has everything we want out of a cell phone but made by Proton cuz you’re privacy based and we love yall.

    But also because Google and Apple have very shady business practices and their software is not privacy focused, not the way Proton is. But aside from the very few Linux phones, there’s no other options.

    It’s gotta be likeGrapheneOS where everything can be deleted with a code.

    Saying this as an American (you know how wild it is with surveillance here and the rise of fascism rn).
