  1. Proton Identity (SSO IdP)

We already log into Proton's own products (including Simplelogin) by authenticating via our Proton accounts. It would be slick if the API for this was exposed, so others could use Proton as an identity provider for their own purposes. This is especially relevant for business users who want their teams on proton, to enable SSO access to other internal or 3rd party tools and platforms without having to look outside Proton, or for consumer-facing platforms that want to allow their users to log in with Proton instead of e.g. Google (blech).

  2. Move item to another vault but don't change to the current vault view

When using the move to another vault feature, do not open the new vault to inspect the newly moved item, this is completely unnecessary and drastically slows down the process of reorganising the vaults and items within them.

Either this or an alternative way of managing the vault that is less clunky would be better.

  3. Session Management per device

On my iPhone and iPad, I have all 5 apps installed. Each app corresponds to one line in the session mgmt. (total 10 lines).

If I want to revoke one, I don't know which one is associated to.

It would be ideal to have a session per device, instead of per app.

  4. Improve UI when deleting messages

Currently, when you delete a message there's a popup near the bottom of the screen that offers an undo option. This is difficult to react to and use if you delete a message by mistake, especially if you're deleting several messages and there are several identical popups on the screen concurrently.

Suggestion: when you click the delete icon on a message, change it to an undo icon. Do not remove the message from the list for a few seconds.

  7. Apply geofencing to emails and opening Proton Drive shares

Use geofencing (lat/long) to ensure that Proton Mail and Proton Drive attachments can only be opened when the receiver can verify that are in a safe location.

  8. Hashing phone contacts

I've looked everywhere for a app that can hash who I'm calling and not display the number directly and not log it in my call register or at the least a option to choose as from time to time family may need to use my phone but I may not want them to visually be able to see whom has been called and for it to be hashed with no log history my hope was that there was some kind of hashing app or where I could just have the contacts picture without displaying the contact details directly

  9. Wiki with RBAC

I'd like to see an E2EE Wiki product with full role based access controls (RBAC), ie. owner, editor, viewer, etc. and integration with Proton Drive for files. This would be invaluable to me in both personal (family) and business use cases.

As far as I know, no one but Skiff has really tried this so it must be really really hard. But I also think it would be really really valuable.

  11. Consistent in-app feedback button across all apps

Way too many hoops to jump through to get to (external) feedback platform.

  16. Out of Band Verification of Websites and JavaScript Integrity

To reduce the risk of MITM attacks (e.g., eIDAS 2.0 proposal in the EU) and increase visibility of any code tampering for Proton resources, please consider a separate extension that works like the Code Verify extension produced by Meta: "We’ve given Cloudflare a cryptographic hash source of truth for WhatsApp Web’s JavaScript code. When someone uses Code Verify, the extension automatically compares the code that runs on WhatsApp Web against the version of the code verified by WhatsApp and published on Cloudflare. If there are any inconsistencies, Code Verify will notify the user." See:

  17. APK filenames should include version number

Viewing the version number of APK files on Proton's web site would be very helpful to ensure the downloaded file is a later version than the one already in use. I recently downloaded...

    ProtonMail-Android.apk

... but would have preferred to see the version number as part of the filename. For example...

    ProtonMail-3-0-17-Android.apk

  18. Allow family members to create new email addresses privately.

Currently the Family Plan provides a total of 90 email addresses for all family members, but the admin users must create the addresses for each member. From a privacy standpoint this is very wrong.

I recommend having an option for the admin users to allocate an amount of addresses from the total of 90 to each member. Each member should then create their own additional addresses, and the additional addresses should be only visible to each user. Family admins should not be able to see family member secondary addresses.

I purchased the Family Plan for my family because I value…

  19. Improve company overview on marketing website

I read through https://proton.me/support/who-owns-protonmail and https://proton.me/about/team while trying to understand what the deal was, and if you were going to last for a while.

Your presentation of the important things about the organization needs to improve.

Currently you just look like a for profit alternative to mail.com that offers less inbox limit. A for-profit company that's in the stage where they buy the market share before hugely monetising users, floating stock, getting taken over by different management and so on.This happens all the time with game companies.

Firstly the initial presentation needs to change. Take a cue from Wikipedia and…
