Quirks in Proton Calendar Notification UX
Proton Calendar has some strange goings on
The "Notifications" dropdown menu in the Proton Calendar Web UI provides two choices:
- notification
I do not want email notifications of upcoming events on my Proton calendars. So I use the second option, the one with the generic name. But that same option also triggers email notifications for some reason.

Proton Calendar iOS/iPadOS ignores per calendar notification settings
I use individual calendars to organize events within Proton Calendar. But when I disable all notifications for certain calendars, then Proton Calendar disregards my settings and shows iOS notifications anyway.

Multiple platform integration gaps related to processing calendar event invitations
I had a devil of a time getting Proton integrations working today.
Proton Mail often neglects to present a Yes/No/Maybe event invitation for emails that contain ICS attachments. So it is difficult to reliably accept business meeting invitations with the Proton platform, compared to Google.
I tried opening the ICS attachment on my phone. But Proton Calendar fails to appear in the OS share menu for ICS attachments.
Then I tried downloading the ICS as a file. But neither Proton Calendar nor Proton Drive appear in the OS share menu for entries in iOS/iPadOS Files.
Then I tried using the…

Make it cheaper to buy it for longer. 2 years is more expensive than 1 year. That should not be.
I went to sign up for Proton Mail. But I get worried. Sure, its 1.99 per month for a year, but then it goes to $4.99. How much will it be in 2026, or 2030? $800 a month? Then, I would be in a pickle. I would rather pay for a lifetime and never worry about how much it costs ever again. Too many other companies, such as Satellite TV offerred cheap deals for a year, then jacked up the prices to higher than I can afford, and Im skeptical you wont do the same.

Filters MUST be searchable
Filters are hidden. They need to be searchable to find and edit filters that catch emails incorrectly. This allows for more nuanced filtering which is necessary.

Messaging & Voice-Video Calling app
An alternative to (and combining the best of) WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, and MySudo - done the Proton way, part of the Proton ecosystem, with the Proton interface.
• Likely based on the Signal platform
• Offered as a separate plan or as part of the other package offerings
• Does not require a phone number, but offers the option of Proton virtual numbers, and works with non-Proton virtual numbers
• End-to-end encryption in peer-to-peer communications
• Can call or message non-Proton numbers
• Offers multiple profiles, each with unique phone numbers
• Connects with others by Usernames or Handles or…3 votes -
Higher contrast font *color* choices
Higher contrast font colors are needed.
The use of a pale grey on off white is not very readable. Reading is particularly difficult in the Proton Mail "app."

slow iOS calendar app
The Proton Calendar app is a bit slow to load. Taps often appear to buffer for ten seconds or more, to create events or even just view events.
I know that the data has to be decrypted, but there are opportunities to cache (unencrypted) on the device, and/or chunk data, to improve performance.

Client support for exchange and GSuite
While integration of Proton Mail into Outlook is possible, it's clunky. Making the Proton apps (Mail, Calendar) capable of acting as clients for O365 or GSuite so I can consolidate to a single app for email or calendar (and see all my calendars in one place).
The thing stopping me moving more wholeheartedly to Proton is the lack of consolidate support for Exchange/MS365/O365

Option to filter calendar imports
When I import calendar events from Google to Proton, the process is slow, taking many minutes to complete.
I don't care to import every single event ever created in my Google account. I only care about events in the current year, recurring series with events in the future, and events in the past 1-3 years for bookkeeping purposes.
Please prototype an option to skip calendar sync data from 4+ years ago, in order to accelerate calendar syncing operations.
Also, where API's support it, automatically sort the incoming data feed by date descending. So that the most relevant events are synced…

Confusing UX when attempting to decline individual event in an invitation series
When I try to delete a specific event in a series, then Proton Calendar shows a prompt with warnings about declining the whole series. But that's not what I want!
I want to decline only that particular event, not the series.
Most Proton Calendar event deletions correctly show a prompt with the option to apply the action to just one event vs. all events in the series. But invitation events from emails seem to break UX there.

Proton Calendar: Core buttons disabled in search UI
The Attending? Yes/No/Maybe buttons, and the delete event button, are unavailable for event matches in the Proton Calendar search UI.
This makes the interface awkward to work with. I have a slew of events that I want to quickly reject and then delete based on search terms.

New Google Calendar synced events not displaying in Proton Calendar
Some important events for coordinating flights in Google Calendar are not displaying in Proton Calendar views.
The events show up when I use the Proton Calendar search box, but the day, week, and month views hide them.
This appears to be a glitch due to the fact that the suggested workflow to import Google data to Proton fails to keep calendar data continuously synced with Google. Would like to disable Google Calendar, Google Contacts, etc. default in those workflows. Present a warning banner that these are one-time syncs, not continuous syncs. Because an ICS subscription is more reliable than one-time…

Proton Mail: Misbehavior for autodetected calendar events
I am a member of some mailing lists, but I do not attend their ICS events. I have setup Proton Mail rules to automatically archive many of the emails. But the events included as ICS email attachments are forcibly appearing in Proton Calendar.
Proton Mail fails to show a prompt to accept vs. reject the events in the emails, like it does for other email events.
Proton Mail may be blindly auto accepting the events.
Proton Mail fails to infer based on configured archive/delete rules, that invitations mentioned in the matching emails should not be accepted.
Proton Mail filters should…

Automatic change and update of Proton Pass Passwords to sites and apps.
Develop a feature in Proton Pass that, once the user is logged in with the master password, allows the automatic change of all the passwords stored in Proton Pass (for this user) and update these passwords automatically to the corresponding sites and apps. This would require, of course, the development of a protocol or agreement to be used by proton pass and all the others sites to make the implementation of this feature possible. This feature would allow for greater security, since it would be easy for the user to change all the passwords once in a while to protect…
