    This is why I went back to Google Calendar. I do not expect to see a spinning 'loading' circle every time I open my calendar app on Android, I want to be able to check my calendar quickly.

    I agree 100% with Michael: "Local read-only device caching of calendar events (so it also works offline) with background syncs would be highly appreciated and necessary to make the app usable."

    Shocked (and disappointed) that this functionality does not exist in the Proton Drive Mac app. Looks like using Dropbox with Cryptomator is the way forward for now until Proton provide this much-needed feature. Being able to view shared Proton Drive folders in Mac OS Finder (with the option to make files/folders available offline while remaining synced) is really essential for easy collaboration.
