It would be extremely useful if Proton Pass supported variables for entry fields. Many users have multiple entries for the same website (for example, different accounts or roles). When a website changes its login URL or another important detail, we currently have to update every entry manually.
With variables, we could define a value (like a login URL) once and reference it in multiple entries. If the website changes its address, we would only need to update the variable, and all linked entries would update automatically. This should work not only for URLs but for any field (username, notes, etc.).
Example use case:
I have around a dozen different accounts for the same website, each stored as a separate entry in Proton Pass. If the website changes its login address, I have to manually update the URL in every single entry. With variables, I could set the login URL as a variable and use it in all relevant entries. When the URL changes, I would only need to update the variable, and all entries would be updated instantly. This would also be helpful for other fields that might change across multiple entries, such as usernames or notes.
Benefits:
- Saves time when updating shared information across entries
- Reduces risk of outdated or inconsistent data
- Makes managing multiple accounts for the same service much easier
