I get the concern but I guess the problem is that wechat is owned by Tencent that is one of this company that Proton is not working on becoming nor supporting. And by using wechat you finance such company and the chaos such are generating on this planète, Proton would too if they accepted this payment method. Bitcoin ? Still forbiden in China ? A Chinese friend has monero, and not ideal but still better then Tencent (wechat) would be TransferWise she mentioned it so I guess that works in China.
